Rub in boiled linseed oil into the wood three days in a row. Then soda blast the crud off the metal. Screws can be really tough. Steam cleaning can sometimes help remove crud and free up screws too.

I know right this one was by far the worst I have done out of the four total now that I have done I could not get that stuff off and I could not get a screw loose because the eroded down so far there was no depth to them so I could not get any torque I tried so many different solutions and I did not want to ruin the gun in the end so I decided not to take it apart I have watched your restoration of your revolver and you also found it magnet fishing which is cool so me and you are very similar and you said you got another one coming out so I’ll be looking for that one in the futureThank you for watching

I bet a high pressure washer would have taken all of that clay off. Also soaking the whole gun I some 0w20 motor oil for a week or two would probably have loosened up the action and screws. I have done that with some old guns before and it works really well, I heated the oil up to 100 degrees Fahrenheit and let the gun soak for about an hour and I was amazed at how well it lubed it up.

For that tang screw, try and deepen the groove a bit with a file or Dremel and take the end of your screw driver once it is in the groove and give it a tap with the hammer, it might give you enough torque to get that thing off.

So I just watched a different video on KZbin that showed a guy sanding a piece of hardwood and he takes the sawdust and gathers it on a piece of paper and pours it in a crack in the wood. He then uses a glue ( not sure what glue yet )!but puts the glue in the sawdust and then covers it with more sawdust. He then takes a sander and sands the wood and the cracks are gone. Filled with the same color sawdust. This would be great for old stocks.

Nicely done, what sad fate for a piece of Remington history. But it lives on as a wall hanger. BTW that butt plate might be a great find to a collector of Remington memorabilia😊Hope you guys are having a great 4th of July!🇺🇸 🇺🇸

A simple drill bit and 5 minutes or less and I could've gotten those screws out that they were trying for a month to remove. Restoring this beauty would've been more important to me than saving a couple of screws. And I won't even start with the stone grinding.... smh
