Ben Gold unfortunately so, but not for those exact reasons. Greed And Power Of The politicians fed by those corporations ave the extreme dumbing down of our population. @@Kolchak_Enjoyer To be honest the U.S. mostly lied about the Spanish regime in the 19th Century. The Spanish were reforming, granted too late, but the Americans tried to justify their regime by blaming everything on the backwards Spanish. If you want a paper on this by a Filipino then here:( core.ac.uk/download/pdf/48645937.pdf ). However yes Spain was rather nice in converting the natives, they did not as is commonly thought force conversions. Also @Alexis Marcos is just wrong. The Philippines as much as it pains me to write was a Colony. There were ideas of incorporating it into the mainlands, making it either another Kingdom or just more Spain proper as well as representation in the Spanish Cortes but the Spanish were too thickheaded to try that. I should note that King Alfonso XII's economic policies meant that the Colonies were much richer than even the U.S., in a sense, One Puerto-Rican Peso was worth 10 U.S. dollars which is a ridiculously good exchange rate. In fact he was a Good and Able King and most people accepted his rule, he created Railroads and telegraph stations in Cuba and Puerto Rico.

Look up Yellow Journalism. This was initiated by the US to misinform people from the spanish colonies through propaganda. They demonize spain even after they took over their colonies to make them look like the hero :D
@Boredman567
@Boredman567 3 жыл бұрын
I'm from the US, and I remember briefly covering the US seizure of the Philippines in history class. The gist of what I learned was that after Spain lost the Spanish-American War, the US took their colonial claim to the Philippines, thereby making it a US colony. Many in the US were eager to get in on the imperialism business that Europe was "succeeding" so well in. We took a look at some of the propaganda of the time, and it was striking how they depicted the Filipino people. In order to make them seem "lesser", the Philippines were always portrayed using caricatures of the Negrito peoples. This was during one of the most racist and hateful periods in US history, and a large portion of white Americans had little regard for the rights of non-white people, especially black people. I don't think we covered things that happened during the occupation, but I figured that the US was doing what the other colonial powers were doing: exploiting a foreign people for their own gain. It's interesting to learn that Spain had actually been pushed out by the Philippine revolutionaries by the time they "sold" the country to the US.
@kb-ww1uw
@kb-ww1uw 3 жыл бұрын
It was interesting looking at American propaganda about the Philippines in the early 1900s. Filipino depictions always looked like tribal men (or rather a tiny minority in the Philippines known as the Aetas) in depictions when most of the Philippines and Luzon, Filipinos were more akin to Brown-skinned spaniards like Mexico and South America and arguably even more rooted in spanish influence since the country was been in colonial rule for over 300 years.

Hometown boy in Cavite, and being from a military family I see some history here and there all true, but not in the story. America valued life, and war wasn't worth the colonial claim. The whole time, America was guiding the Philippines to govern themselves. But with Arthur MacArthur and later Field Marshal Douglas MacArthur, it's hard to make that clear, but that is another story.

Should a white 5-year-old American boy, apologize for what he did or feel guilty for slavery in the United States? No, of course not, he wasn't born in that era; he didn't exist. However, most definitely, he, as well as all people, should know and understand the history, ethics, such as respectfulness towards all beings, and most importantly, liberty.

"when I grow up, I'll will work abroad and earn dollars" this is one of the goals of a Filipino student. Filipino educational system is actually western indoctrination. It's a series of manipulation of Filipino culture during industrial era.. but it wasn't enough making money from the land and seas of Philippines due to the inferior technology of transporting goods during that time by comparing to the present technological advancement. with the saying of AMERICA land of great freedom,democracy,hope,riches,etc. Filipino parents and later their kids were dreaming of working abroad(u.s) after graduating from American based educational system.. and its too late for them to realize that pineapples,banana,mangoes, etc werent the Americans were after, it was them (Filipino) were the Goods/products of the foreigner to be exported,and monetize. Filipino laborers are all over the world because they are efficient, doesn't complain and above all cheap labor, minimum wage doesn't matter to them cause their dollar currency is way to superior than Philippine currency.

The US didn‘t bought the Philippines. The US didn’t paid the Spaniards these $200M, the history is again mislead, US at that time was been invaded & colonize by Great Britain, so at that time they don’t have these amount of money. The person who paid our independence from Spain was a Filipino rich man, Mr. Tallado, so we didn’t owe anything fr. US, it was only the US was interested to invade & colonize the Philippines. They also used our country fr. Trading to China, Mexico etc..., what was written in History was many of it was manipulated bec. that’s what they want to spread to generations to generations. Our ancestors fight back w/ Spaniards & they lose, they don’t want to surrender w/ the Filipinos, they surrender w/ the US bec, they don’t want to accept that they lost the fight, the US helps our ancestors to fight against Spaniards but it’s already too late when they came , many were already been death & after the fight, the US don’t want too to give us independence, they’re the same w/ the Spaniards, greedy & wants to occupied the Philippines too. Since the country of Mexico is filled with thousands of US factories through NAFTA as well as millions of dollars sent each month to Mexico from US immigrants, legal and undocumented. Well, one wonders why their response is not similar to the Philippines or Vietnam. This is a real problem to explain and I do not even have a theory at this time. I appreciate your view, and being enlightened to greater depth on Philippine history, especially the distortions and motives of great powers in their agenda to acquire wealth and territory. To this we must learn to look deeper into more interpretations of history, and not trust easily what we are fed as true. This is especially true in our present times, when in spite of the information exchange opportunities of the internet, the truth is even harder now to distinguish! One fact that is difficult to avoid however, is the gratitude the Philippino people must have, as well as the Europeans, for the mammoth effort the US made in military commitments to liberate the world from Japanese, and German tyranny. 175,000 allied troops landed in Subic Bay, and routed the cruel Japanese from their occupation, at great cost and sacrifice, and we will never forget that. I wish America could find it's feet as a moral influence in world affairs in modern times, but I admit that is still the stuff of dreams.

Everything sound so simple but its not, the Pilipino revolutionariors lack of super power support mainly either from England, France, Germany or Japan was one of the many causes of the failure of the First Philippine Independence plus lack of a fully develop government, the division and infighting within the revolutionariors play a large part too. Colonialism was at its height at that time the British have control over India, Malaysia and substantial influence over China, France in Indo-China and Japan control over Korea and is focus in conquering China. In the end after WWII the USA decided to give up the Philippines and concentrate their resources in Japan, South Korea and Taiwan because the Philippines was view as unsustainable in a small token of appreciation and recognition the USA allowed immigration priority to Filipinos to the USA.

Thailand were able to avoid western colonization due to them being a buffer country between French in Indochina and British on Malay Peninsula, also they have a strong political institution and the king by that time further centralized the authority, define a definite border and make a good diplomacy being a buffer country between two power as their leverage. BTW Bonifacio didn't recognized the election held which saw him badly losing in power, burned down a village in Indand and tried to create another group... a very clear act of treason

The key is Thailand had a strong political institution compare to the Philippines. Bonifacio loosing power having him assassinated is not the right way his assassination further split the revolution and this is how the Spaniards and later the USA able to control the Philippines....divide and conquer in fact the Philippines has been dividing themselves.

He was executed not assassinated, first Bonifacio lost power thru the Tejeros convention which he organize himself. He place in abysmal 5th place which show how we was unpopular within the group. He then draft a document rejecting the election made like a modern day loser politicians, Aguinaldo talk to him to cooperate with the government but he refused, went away burned the village and churh on Indang due to people refusing to give him provisions before proceeding to steal carabao and other animal by force. He became a liability, if you want to unify nation there should only one leader.

4:38 You are wrong. Here in the US in history we learned about the Philippine American war and also Imperialism. We learned that the Philippines got their independence from Spain but then the US comes in and takes it as a colony(of course this was a bad decision for the US) which led to the Philippine-American War(trust me it’s in US history books) The Filipinos wanted independence but the US wanted to colonize it and for 3 years they fought which killed so many Filipinos. In the US, history is uncensored and it always doesn’t glorify the US. For example the controversial decision to use atomic bomb in Japan.

It does make sense. I also learned the C.I.A. helped Cory Aquino in 1986. Marcos Sr. was desperate to return back & ready to face all allegations against him in the Philippines Court, but the U.S. forbade him because of 4-year investigation on his corruption. In 1990, the U.S. Court at NYC concluded that Marcos Sr. was found not guilty in all accounts. In 1991, Cory Aquino ended the relationship between the U.S. & the Philippines by not renewing the Agreement as her retaliation.

Gad Guillen, please talk about facts based on truth. No one can sue a dead person as Ferdinand Marcos Sr. was already dead in 1989, except people can make legal claims against his estate. @francesoutlaw7021

Kirby, as much as I appreciate your video presentation that you've got most of the facts right, for me I need more substantial truths backed by facts to believe. For everyone's information, the United States did not "buy the Philippines." Contrary to what you've said and some Filipinos believe, the Philippines was not up for sale, hence, for the United States to buy! There is a big difference between "selling and buying" versus "cession." But first, let me give you some facts. August 23, 1896 - Philippine revolution started. August 13, 1898 - Philippine revolution ended. April 21, 1898 - Spanish American War started. August 13, 1898 - Spanish American War ended. February 4, 1899 - Philippine American War started July 2, 1902 - Philippine American War ended. (If you can argue against this dates, you are very welcome.) For the mere reason that Spain lost the war with the United States, it only meant Spain must SECEDE it's colony or territory to the victor of the war, the United States, whichever it prefers (i.e., the Philippines, Puerto Rico, Guam, etc.): to take over the Philippines or leave her as an independent state in spite of the fact Filipinos had no experience in running a government or a democratic form of government that the United States wanted. During the time Filipinos were revolting against their colonial master, the Spanish American War broke out and ended at the same date, as illustrated above. No one can say that Spain was too embarrassed to accept defeat by the "brown counterpart," as they already lost to the Americans meaning the United States can take any territory she wishes. (What is there to be embarrassed when Spain was already defeated by the United States?) In 1902, President McKinley decided to take over the Philippines due to reasons, in his own words, that "Filipinos were inexperienced and uneducated," contradicting the fact that Filipinos already established their own First Government, with Biak-na-Bato Constitution, and Emilio Aguinaldo as the country's first president.) Nevertheless, in order for Spain to secede the Philippines, whoever was taking over must pay for the properties Spain could not bring back home (i.e., churches, colonial houses, universities, artworks, and all other forms of properties); therefore, the Treaty of Paris in 1898 concluded with the United States must pay Spain for $20 million dollars called CESSION OF A COUNTRY (THE PHILIPPINES) THAT CONTAINED PROPERTIES OF SPAIN. In other words, if the United States must take over the Philippines and claim it as territory or commonwealth, Spanish properties must be compensated. By saying the United States BOUGHT or purchased the Philippines from Spain is by far utterly RIDICULOUS that only immature and innocent children would say! The Philippines was not like "a piece of candy you buy from neighborhood store." The world knew through France that Spain was defeated by the United States at the time Filipinos were revolting against their colonial masters; thereby, when the Americans arrived in the Philippines, Filipinos wanted to drive them away by another war called Philippine American War from 1899 to 1902, as illustrated above. In 1898, the Americans knew they had acquired the Philippines through the Treaty of Paris in spite of the fact Philippines had already established its own government. In 1899, Filipinos waged war against the Americans because the latter said "we own this country through the Treaty of Paris in 1898). So, with the dates illustrated above regarding the Philippine Revolution against Spain and the Spanish American War, how is it that the Americans were waiting for the result of the revolution? By AUGUST 13, 1898, BOTH THE AMERICANS AND FILIPINOS ALREADY KNEW WHO WON THE PHILIPPINE REVOLUTION AGAINST SPAIN AND THE SPANISH AMERICAN WAR. The Americans were not sitting around waiting if Filipinos would win over Spain - they were at war with Spain in Cuba. Thereafter, the Americans arrived in the Philippines although there were non-military Americans already in the country conducting trade and commerce, as well as missionary work. It is valiant for anyone to take on history, but it is unacceptable to paint a different picture with what is clearly written in records of our great past.

BACON ADDRESSED TO THE CHAIRMAN OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE OF THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF ANTI-IMPERIALIST CLUBS I am quite willing to be numbered with those citizens who reprobate some acts in the administration of President McKinley, and some traits of his character as a public officer. The needless and murderous war in the Philippines, in which the islanders are slaughtered and their land ravaged, for the sole crime of defending their native country against foreign invasion, is one of the most shameful crimes of recent history. At the same time, it is most characteristic of Mr. McKinley that this great wrong is perpetrated by him in face of his own distinct enunciation of the right. " Forcible annexation," he says, " is criminal aggres sion;" and then proceeds to the crime which he has stigmatized.” -- The Anti-imperialist by Atkinson, Edward Published 1900 www.pbs.org/frontlineworld/stories/philippines/tl01.html 1898-1933: America's Colony The Philippines become a reluctant part of a new empire. Back in the United States, a newly formed anti-imperialist movement protested the war as an act of criminal aggression against the Filipino people. But self-described imperialists insisted that America had a duty to bring order and civilization to what Indiana senator Alfred Beveridge called a "barbarous race." As the senator insisted, "The Philippines are ours forever. We will not repudiate our duty in the archipelago. We will not abandon our duty in the Orient. We will not renounce our part in the mission of our race, trustee under God, of the civilization of the world.”

"The United States was funded freedom, justice, and democracy" Many folk think that the founders of the United States came up with the concepts of freedom, justice, and democracy, and revolted in opposition to the intrusive imperialism of the United Kingdom. However, this isn't exactly correct. The concepts of "freedom, democracy, and justice" that's associated with the U.S. and its founders actually predate the United States. We inherited those concepts from England, from Englishmen. The English brought these concepts to the Americas. We were always free and independent under the English/British monarchy. In fact, King George III didn't grant our forefathers their freedom and independence, he acknowledge the independence of 13 states... you acknowledge something that has always been the case. The King couldn't grant the 13 states something they always had under him and his predecessors... Their independence. As citizens, we always had freedom, justice, and democracy under the British Monarchs. We didn't fight to gain something that we "didn't have" before. We fought to keep something we always had. The British Parliament, by a series of acts that it passed, put the United Kingdom in breach of contract that the King had with the colonies. The colonies were corporate ventures, that the English monarchy supported, in attempts to not only gain riches from the land (Gold and other minerals), but to also build a territorial and economic empire. Part of that arrangement was for us to govern ourselves here through our own representatives in the colonial legislatures. The English colonies were founded with imperialism in mind. The idea that we'd stretch from "sea to sea" began during the colonial period, and continued on as our "manifest destiny" after the American Revolution. The events leading to our part of the 7 years war (French and Indian war) wasn't just about ongoing conflicts between the British and the French. It was also about both wanting to expand their empires. The French and English colonists both were expanding their reach, and both reached out to their mother countries. After the American Revolution, the new American Nation set its sights on the rest of the continent as a long term goal. We purchased a part of our country from the French, and conquered the other part from the Mexicans, and later the Indians. Our expansion beyond the continent was just a continuation of that... we expanded our reach to support our interests. In return, we re-enforced the concepts of freedom and democracy to the areas that we expanded into. Those concepts of freedom, democracy, and justice, were needed for economic prosperity. Onto Spanish American War in the Philippines. We defeated the Spanish in a naval battle in the vicinity of Manila. Unfortunately, we didn't bring a ground invasion force. There were talks between the Rebels and the Americans in the lead up to the battle. A ground battle was reportedly staged to give the Spaniards justification to surrender to the Americans. The video pointed out that there was humiliation involved with surrendering to the Rebels. That's part of the equation, they saw themselves as superior to the Rebels. There's another reason as well. The Spaniards knew that if they surrendered to the Rebels, they faced torture and other brutal forms of treatment. If you look at some of the photos from that period, you'd notice that the Spanish "prisoners" for the Americans looked happy and relieved. The U.S. side lead the Philippine side to believe that they were going to work toward the later's independence. One reason to why they didn't rush towards this was the feeling that the Filipinos weren't ready for self governance, to include effectively defending from foreign invasions. The Filipinos needed to be prepared for this eventuality. Other European powers had their eyes on the Philippines. In fact, other navies observed the battle between the U.S. and Spanish naval squadrons. Shortly afterward, the German Navy tried to provoke the U.S. Navy into a fight with them. The Germans wanted the Philippines. When Dewey asked them if they wanted a fight, and if so when, the Germans ran to the British... Who promptly told them that if they got into a fight against the Americans, they'd find themselves also fighting the British Navy. The Germans backed down. The U.S. needed to have a hold on the Philippines for economic and strategic reasons. Not long after their battle with the Spaniards in the Philippines, the U.S. called for volunteers for an Army to occupy the Philippines. The original intent was to get the Filipinos to go along with being prepared, and worked with, towards an independence date set by the Americans when the later felt that the former was ready. However, a series of miscommunications and miscalculations lead to the Philippine insurrection... A war that provided a series of "lessons learned" that we should've taken with us into the rest of the 20th Century, and into the Middle East during the early part of this century.

@thebesig
@thebesig 3 жыл бұрын
@@TheAaronChand No, the United States was not founded on imperialism and colonialism, although both played a role with regards to setting the chain reaction that was going to be needed that would lead to the United States coming into being. I mentioned some of that above. Other outcomes could've also happened that could have resulted in the United States not coming into being. We continued the trend once we gained our independence. However, we were founded not on imperialism but on a concept that our founders held with regards to governance. Our founders believed that we have a God given right to life and liberty and, with what we do with both, property (happiness). The British Parliament eroded on those rights, and on the rights that derived on those three. From April 1775 to July 1776, our forefathers were fighting for their rights as Englishmen. From 1776 until the conclusion of the war, they were fighting for their independence as 13 different nation states united under the banner of the United States. The Constitutional Convention was held specifically to form a single nation, and the foundations respected the right to life, liberty, and property (pursuit of happiness). This philosophy is based on Judeo Christian philosophy (life, liberty, property/happiness are traceable to the Old Testament). Meaning, we were founded on a belief based on Judaeo Christian philosophy... One that made us sovereign over ourselves, and where we governed ourselves through elected representatives. Our government governs over us with our consent... Our Constitution preserves the concept of right to life, liberty, and property (happiness) and, by extension, placed us on track to run as God intended for a society to run. On your statement regarding the Native Americans. First, they were not the first inhabitants. They've found evidence of earlier cultures there that predate the Native American Indians. Even some of the Native Americans have legends where their ancestors defeated a prior tribe. The reality is that had the United States not conquered the territory from the Native Americans, another would have. Prior to the Spanish arrival, we had three major Native American civilizations that had conquered other Native American tribes. The fact of the matter is that the Native Americans were fighting each other long before the Europeans came onto the scene. Someone would've conquered those Native American tribes, whether that would've been a European power prior the United States, a descendant Native American civilization (Based on Inca, Aztec, Maya civilizations) prior to the Europeans, or simply another Native American tribe. Second, on your question about "wanting to conquer" the Indian tribes. The reality is that we based our territorial possession of these Native American territories on international law/treaty. We didn't need to conquer them to gain more territory because as far as we were concerned, that territory was ours. We ultimately had to go to war with them partly due to conflicts between the Native Americans and our expanding civilization.

Bullshit. First of all, the USA was NOT interested in having a long term colony anywhere and certainly not for the long term. Almost immediately after taking control, the US people and government were considering how to make the country independent which simply was not possible in 1898; left alone to their own devices, another stronger country in the area would have simply subsumed the Philippines. Yes, it is true. The USA only kept the Philippines in its commonwealth form for less than 50 years! That is an extremely short period of time and indicates an obvious lack of intent to make the country a conquered part of the US long term. When they Philippines did achieve independence after a draconian occupation by Japanese invaders (the cruelty of which today's Filipinos forget), the USA left the Philippines as the richest and most advanced country in Asia. "The pearl of the orient". No favors? The development of roads, the most advanced education system in Southeast Asia, hospitals and repurchasing the people's land from the Vatican from the Spanish occupations and giving it back to the Philippines, favorable trade terms, US citizenship, western civilization denied them by the Spanish...No, No favors at all, Fred. And in thanks for all of that, they kicked out our American bases and no complain that we are not being good allies in the South China sea as they cozy up to China, actually announcing to China, in China, that they are shifting their alliance from the the USA to China and Russia. Good luck with that. It doesn't matter now of course, except that I cannot let stupid comments like yours' that attempt to rewrite history go unchallenged.

@@fazbell Well, first of all it was not US imperialism as the US is not an imperialistic country. We always had a representative government with no "emperor" (or king or queen). We did and still do have a commonwealth whose members get much more from US taxpayers than they give back to us. But call us "imperialist" if you wish. And let's get rid of it by forcing upon Puerto Rico their independence, even if their population consistently votes to reject independence but hates our president. Personally, I wouldn't care if those commonwealth territories all drifted off into their own independent lands of paradise but I guess if I were the average puerto rican, I might consider US imperialism to be a great deal, in conjunction with their free social programs and favored tax treatment AND automatic US citizenship which guarantees those benefits for life. Go ahead, become independent. Break a leg. I think that was the attitude of the US voters when the Philippines made their demands to become independent. I don't like US "imperialism" either because it costs me as a taxpayer too much money so in a way, I agree with you.

Excellent point. I read somewhere there there were German ships at Manila Bay when the US launched the attack against the Spanish Armada. The Germans indeed also had intentions of taking over the Philippines. So it was really a matter of who would colonize the country. I think one of the reasons the Philippines became what it is now is that the Americans allowed the aristocratic members of the Philippines to thrive during the former's administration of the country. While, many american businessmen got rich by setting up shop in the Philippines (Coconuts, tobacco, bananas, lumber, etc) , the rich Filipinos at the time amassed many industries.

Zander Hicks: Wow. Your mother's lack of iodized salt is showing .... or is that another part of Philippine History... you are unaware of? Japan fought desperately to take the Philippines during WW2. Why? Not only because of its strategic location, but Philippines was the most prosperous country in Asia at the time, having earned that post during the USA's brief acquisition and tutelage. Negotiations were already underway at that time for USA to give Philippines its independence..... Of course, as usual... when times got tough and war broke out... and the doody hit the fan... the Filipino cry for independence was put on hold, since the Philippines were more than happy to welcome "Joe," to liberate them once again. Since its Independence and self rule, the only top ten list that Philippines has consistently shown up on, has been "Most Corrupt" country in Asia. Curious... a nation of people that blame all their woes and misfortunes on "Foreigner Rule" has been under self rule since 1946..... more than 70 years.... and has become world famous for a continuous level of unsurpassed corruption. As long as you point fingers at others, instead of your selves, nothing will change. By the way.... I am Filipino.

Gogo Gomez, stop history revisionism. At that time, there is no Philippine government yet. The country is still tribal by nature. Even the spanish weren't able to fully unite Mindanao under the Spanish government. It is only after the US granted us freedom that we finally have a self-governing Philippines. There is no Philippines before the Spanish. We weren't prosperous back then but we do have rich deposits of natural resources and a great location. This same location is precisely why China likes to build its missiles on our islands these days. They can launch attacks on Japane, Vietnam, Malaysia and all the neighboring countries. Whoever controls the Philippines has a great position in Asia.

I think your answer is too simple...it has to do rather with imposing views, values, moral...that come along with people. The Philippines is part of the Christian, Spanish speaking (erased now there) Empire, which was fought against for centuries by the Lutheran Anglo-Saxon culture. Remember that since 1492 Spain started to have other European countries against as it was very powerful. USA is the inheritor of the British way of dealing with reality. They are very good at thinking ignoring feelings whereas Christian people don't...Read about Luther. Almost every defeat Anglo-Saxon people had in History is been minimised or erased from text books, our defeats have been magnified arriving to the point of making Spaniards fools of themselves. Read about Blas de Lezo in Cartagena de Indias. Read about the Spanish inquisition compared with Luther protestant revolution in Europe...compare the number of deaths. Wherever British or USA people colonized, destroyed local production to impose their trading. Read about India and the textile production. Caring about locals is been inexistent. Almost no native Americans in USA left...compare it with those in Latin America...Spain sold land in the USA to them...as the country was smaller back then. It was NOT paid. They had the power and Spain was standing at the other extreme. Their strategy is been dividing geographically the Spanish world. Latin America should be one country but they are always intervening to create frictions in the region. But what they don't previewed is that Christian people we keep emotional ties, something they did not work on or if they did too fakely.

The Philippines is located smack dab in the middle of important international trade routes. Then, as now, the Philippines has no real navy or military capable of defending itself and asserting it's sovereignty over a group of 7000+ loosely allied islands (with significant portions of Mindanao always wanting autonomy/independence). If it was not America asserting it's power and influence over the Philippines, it would have been Japan, Russia, or China. True, America is hypocritical and operates in it's own interest. But Filipinos are dreaming if they think that Japan, Russia, or China, would have left them alone to run their own country. And now that Filipinos do enjoy full sovereignty, is it a wonderful place to live? I wish the Philippines well, but... without U.S. help and intervention, it will likely be swallowed up by China. NOT GOOD!

The reason that this is fake history is Spain had a modern navy that no amount of Philippine Independence tribal Army could ever defeat. USA came and smashed the Spanish navy (1898) and sped up Philippine independence by oh, say 70 years. Without Philippines having a big brother (USA) step in and take out Spain's navy and fortresses, Spain could have held Philippines until the Japanese invaded cir. 1942, and USA would have again had to rescue the Philippines from Japan. In those days, both a modern navy and a modern army was needed to secure a country; today, a modern air force is also needed. And USA has been providing Philippine's protection since 1898, with much cost to American tax payers. Praise God for Jesus teaching us what we call modern society, an end to tribalism, slavery, and teaching to love our neighbors as ourselves. History is always more complicated than it can ever be taught.

In the Philippine Insurgencies for Independence against Spain, America and her superior forces in the in the Philippines had no intention of conquering the semi-despotic aristocratic government of Spain to replace it with a more despotic aristocratic insurgent Aguinaldo government. It is normal that insurrections against partial-despotism empower new completely despotic governments: eg. Russian Communism, Chinese Communism, French Rule of Terror, Japan during WWII, German Nazism, Cuban Communism, Cambodia’s Pol Pot, South Africa’s Apartide Replacement. Exception is USA whose revolution was first founded on national Biblical Christian Revival. America’s goal for Philippines was Democracy, but Aguinaldo’s goal for Philippines was understood as Aristocratic Totalitarianism. Aguinaldo’s self-exile based on his acceptance of Spain’s Monetary Bribe shows that Aguinaldo’s motivation was self-seeking aggrandizement and not sacrificial service toward Filipinos. America’s rejection of the insurrectionist leaders’ intentions of worse autocratic despotism was wise, as America prepared the Philippines for Democratic self-rule, by filling all Philippine offices with Filipinos. Yet, in 1965, Filipinos still elected Dictator Ferdinand Marcos as the 10th President. This is not a criticism of Filipinos over other people, but rather evidence of the requirement of deep, shallow and wide ubiquitous Biblical (not Catholic hierarchical) values needed to make democracies work. Although it is true that there were Filipino insurrectionists in 1892, there have always been Filipino insurrectionists, and still today there are Filipino insurrectionists. The accusation that in 1898, “America swooped in and stole the revolution” is a typical silliness, like the mosquito claiming to be killing the elephant when the hunter shot it, every superseded insurgent has claimed this since the first. Funnier still is that the children of the unsuccessful insurgents always believe the silliness that their father tells them, that “if it hadn’t been for (blank) stealing it from me, I would have been (King of the Universe)”. Read this for a fuller understanding: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philippine%E2%80%93American_War If you believe Islam’s Mohammad when he said “The Earth is flat, and Zul-Qarnain (Alexander the Great) reached where the Sun sets (in a spring of murky water)” [Quran 18:86] and that Mohammad was the ideal man, then you might believe this typical dishonest Muslim: E. Ahmed’s wrote “The Theory and Fallacies of Counter-Insurgency,” The Nation, August 2, 1971.“the bloodiest colonial war (in proportion to population) ever fought by a white power in Asia; it cost the lives of 3,000,000 Filipinos.” My experience with “Muslim honesty” causes me to expect them to exaggerate ten-fold. People will often ask why do Census figures not show a drop in population for that period? Answer: the genocide is an old wive’s tale, and Muslim tale. “The war and colonization by the U.S. changed the cultural landscape of the islands, as people dealt with an estimated 200,000 to 1,500,000 total Filipino civilians dead due to the rebels seizing their food supplies” ~Wikipedia So we learn that the civilian deaths were caused by the insurgent rebels roaming, stealing and destroying, as should be expected, just as happens everywhere else that insurgent rebels roam. It is hard to rewrite history in the first few years after an event, so, like this, the lie is slowly spread over generations, and the lie replaces the truth for people of low character. And we hear, as Muslims like to say, “It is known”, as they present their rewritten “facts”. Everyone should read George Orwell’s classic book titled “1984” written in 1948 … it’s a sci-fi romance dealing with propaganda. Additionally, everyone should study the history of people rewriting history. The problem with rewriting history is that the “new” history doesn’t add up, just as the Philippine population data doesn’t add up to genocide. Fools, mockers and conspiracy theorists will always be among us; don’t be gullible.

This isn't a conspiracy theory. This is proven historical fact. Like I said, you simply can't go around and call shit "fake history" because you don't like it. Literally no American soldier died by Spanish hands. It was a farce. This is common knowledge are you kidding me? A big part of your argument is basically "I don't believe it because I don't like Muslims" which is just 👌. 10/10. Seriously this is a whole new level of ignorance. You do realize the bible contains just as crazy stuff right? Might as well denounce all of Christianity and yet here you are claiming that somehow in order to have a proper, functioning democracy, which you imply as the only proper type of government, we should all follow that crazy-ass book. Despite the fact that democracy was used by the ancient greeks hundreds of years before the bible to great effect. And about that census thing, many people (and not just that filthy filthy muslim oh no) including U.S. sources disprove that only 200,000-ish people died. Basically there's a lot of evidence pointing towards the census being highly inaccurate. Also P.S.: That wikipedia article you linked me has the native rebels being called "pro-spanish insurgents"... Yeah I'm done with you.

Since the population then was 9 Mil, and by your history rewrite, it dropped by 3 Mil, then there were then only 6 Mil. That is 33% drop within a few months (far worse than the European Black Death of the middle ages). Many cities and towns would have been completely wiped out. Bodies in the street, everywhere. It would have been universal knowledge and unable to hide it from the locals and the rest of the world, but yet it was "hidden" and not found out until 70 years later. Clearly, little space men with incinerator guns came down from Mars and did it while none were looking. But, No, not the harshest emotion laden critics from that time claim anything of the sort that you are propagandizing in the historical rewrite committee. // You don't have common sense. In all insurgencies, there is always division, and always support for the previous "masters". Those elitists who benefited from hundreds of years of Spanish rule (often inter-bred) always want to keep their elitist position and want to take things back. If there weren't pro-spanish insurgents here, it would mark an incredible break from history (and common sense). // And unlike other religious books, the Bible has never had anything in it proved to be unhistorical, although there is a large history of fools attacking it, with only themselves proved fools in the end. And Jesus was clearly the greatest teacher in history, with all the civilized, technological world first adopting his teachings and then all the other peoples wanting governments based on his teachings for themselves (except for those who want to dominate and subjugate others). Only those who don't internally burn for their own righteousness reject Jesus and his teachings. Self-arrogant men will always do self-arrogant behavior; just as Dictatorial President Emilio Aguinaldo, who preferred treasure from Spain over equality of Filipinos and giving the best lives possible to Filipinos, and he twice publicly denounced his and the other's insurgencies for selfish benefit. Not a good back-bone to build a democracy. And if half his troops were better men them him, and half the troops were worse men than him (fair proposition), then there would be plenty of scum-of-the-earth men for a few of them to propagate crazy, unsubstantiated claims of Filipino genocide. // And what kind of silly name is "Le Mustachio Republic", as if the mustache gave any moral nobility to anything. And, by the way, a "Republic" is just an immoral oligarchy of elitists set on enslaving and subjugating others who have the god infused right of equality.
