I wish you had gone into the actual content more vs the aesthetics, looking for cook books that the "every man" can conquer.

I actually love that she talked a lot about the aesthetics. The look of a cookbook draws me in and makes me want to purchase it.

I love Plenty, A Platter of Figs, the Sedarises and Nigella too! Other favorites- Barefoot Contessa anything, The Art of Simple Food, The New Moosewood Cookbook, and Field of Greens was the most random find from a Goodwill years and years ago but it has my favorite banana bread recipe.

The dark chocolate/caramel/sea salt cookie recipe from The Year of Cozy is one of my favorites!! I also really love Gwyneth Paltrow's It's All Easy, and your cookbook!

Thank you for sharing! I love cookbooks as well. Nothing is more calming for me to flip through, digest, and create with during the weekend. I have been loving Daphne Oz's new cookbook, The Happy Book. The photos are truly beautiful and the recipes are real hits: a combination of classics and new twists. I also love the Jerusalem cookbook by Ottolenghi and Tamimi. Again, the recipes are gorgeous in addition to the photography. And as mentioned below, anything Ina Garten. She is my comfort. :)

I’m so fussy when it comes to cookbooks. Just because it looks pretty doesn’t mean I’m going to buy it. The recipes need to be doable for me. Not too many ingredients, doesn’t take too long to do and something that I will actually like.

With you on the nigella cookbooks. All of her books are amazing, I can read them cover to cover easily.

Hi Claire! I really love your cookbook collection, I want all of them! Especially Love & Lemons, so beautiful 😍!! I have a cookbook collection of six currently and I love it. I really like baking and one of my favorite books in my collection is on called Better Homes and Gardens Baking because it has every baking recipe I can think of!! It's really versatile for me and I love it. I hope to get more and more over the years, because I am a major 12 yr. old cookbook collector!! These books are so inspiring 😊😊.

Loved all the books and enjoyed that you showed a couple of pages of each since that's what I miss most when buying books online. I'd have been cool if you commented more on content. Also links to the books on the description below the video would be awesome. Can't wait to see more of your modern cook books!

Not even lying, I think yours is my favorite cookbook! Everything I have made from it has been fabulous - most recently the tortilla soup! Love that you included all the tips for hosting and stocking your pantry, too. I have made recipes from the party section when I host book club (like the proscuitto-wrapped peaches) as well as the drinks (blackberry fizz and bloody mary bar) and my friends have really enjoyed it, too. :) I will definitely be checking out these book recommendations. I have gifted the Love & Lemons cookbook to a friend, but don't own it myself yet. Also interested in that "Domestic Goddess" one!

My favourite cookbook of late is "Molly on the Range" by Molly Yeh. The essays are delightful and so genuine, the photography is gorgeous, and every recipe I've tried has been a winner. Reading it gives me the same vibe as reading old church cookbooks; it feels like you're being welcomed into a tight knit community. It's so, so wonderful!

I'll definitely have to check out Plenty -- that looks awesome! A Year of Cozy is adorable and fun! And I love anything by Nigella. ☺ I have both of Joy the Baker's cook books and use them a lot.

My favorites are How to Cook Everything by Mark Bittman, The New Vegetarian Cooking for Everyone by Deborah Madison, Super Natural Everyday by Heidi Swanson. It's so hard to find an ideal cookbook though because I feel like a lot of them are either gorgeously styled but not practical for everyday cooking, or they are full of great recipes but no pretty pictures. Your book is an exception, Claire!

Thanks for sharing! I think I need to add Love & Lemons and Domestic Goddess cookbooks to my collection! My favorite cookbook would probably have to be Barefoot Contessa "Foolproof". She's got a lot of good recipes in there!

Hey Claire, I love Jeanine's blog and cookbook. However, I actually cook the most from another blogger/author and her blog/cookbook is called Oh She Glows. Her stuff is not as design heavy like Jeanine's beautiful work, but every recipe tastes amazing and is oh so non-intimidating that I just always fall back to. Angela Liddon is her name and she has two cookbooks out and I own both of them!

Lynne Z. I have all three cookbooks that you mentioned and have found Angela’s recipes to be much tastier. Although, I’m definitely attracted to the design of Love and Lemons

Omg Claire!! I forgot to write this on an earlier video, but my boyfriend just gave me YOUR cookbook as a Christmas present! He knows I love your KZbin channel and have cooked from it a bunch of times 😊 (He also gave me running shoes, gummy vitamins, and a s'well water bottle- soooo kinda sending me mixed messages? lol) Anyway, just wanted to say that your book is ALSO beautifully designed. I love the bright photography! I also really love your writing style. Like you're clearly super knowledgeable and skilled in the kitchen, but you write about each chapter and recipe in a low key and familiar way. I feel like you're writing to the 20 something who wants to be ambitious with food but also doesn't know what "folding egg whites" means. ❤️ ❤️

I'm late to the game but I wanted to pitch in to the conversation. I recently was gifted Love & Lemons and I adore it for exactly the reasons you expressed. I like her section on kitchen essentials. I think it's practical and well-considered. I've been addicted to her Delicata Squash and Wheat Berry Salad. Gjelina by Travis Lett. Gjelina and GTA are phenominal food establishments. I don't like in Venice anymore sooo this book kind of allows me access to foods I crave but don't have nearby :C I do find some recipes unwieldy BUT I love the beginning of the book which has lots of crafty recipes for little things you can add to other recipes. It's like he expanded my spice cabinet with nuanced and exciting flavors. He has a section on soup and his explanations and descriptions for bone broths and such is actually helpful and spot on. One recipe recommends cinnamon sticks and by golly if it wasn't a game changer. It's not the most practical but certainly collectible. I've been jonesing for Victuals: An Appalachian Journey since I just moved to Appalachia myself. Finally, The Cook and the Gardner by Amanda Hesser. It's as much a memoir as it is a book with recipes. Like Love & Lemons, this book is anchored on seasons and what's available at the time. She's living in the remote country side of France for a year with an older French couple. It's a good cozy read and it's very human and down to earth. You can learn from her mistakes and if you are patient then as you go through the year with her you have special things that you start in one season and finish in another (like cordial!). Amanda is obviously a goddess and her horn needs no tooting but....this was a random find in a used book store and worth every cent I paid (500 cents). Check. It. Out! I love these odes to cookbooks past and present. Keep it coming, sister!
