What an awesome compilation! Some really cool vehicles, lots sirens and air horn! What make / model of vehicle does A205 use today and does NZ still use American (Mack...etc.) or British (Dennis...etc.) appliances? 7:12 - Oh no! When the old aerial breaks and the recovery truck blocks the response! That's quite the recovery operation for such a beast.

Thank you for your comment, I've been subscribed to you for years! Auckland 205 is now an unusual custom Scania Bronto setup with the Finnish siren. What is the Salvage unit used for?

Mainly for mopping up after sprinkler activations, to minimise the water damage. It carried heavy duty wet/dry vacuums and big squeegees - I'm not sure what else, that's all I can recall...

They switched to MAN several years ago, but there still many P94s in the fleet.

Yes, 1981 Mack and 1986 Ford, respectively! The Spartan ladder is a 1997 model.

@@SonofthePhantom It used to be that every alarm activation in the CBD got 4 pumps and 2 aerials, which happened several times a day. Add in the steep and narrow streets and these trucks get absolutely hammered! Some, like the Mack, stood the test of time, while others, like the Spartan, were relegated to the relief fleet after barely a decade. The police usually kept patrol cars for about seven years, far more than Aussie.

SonofthePhantom My dad recently brought a old 80s nz firetruck, it has full regular services with records, only 40,000 kms and had upgraded Battery system. They take really good care of those trucks, they only really get rid of them as there is a change in technology.
