The Knife

Күн бұрын

Official video for 'Silent Shout' by The Knife, taken from their album of the same name.
Directed by Andreas Nilsson.
"We told Andreas we wanted something very dark and surrealist. When he came up with this idea it was perfect. [...] it has all the elements that we like -- it's very sad, but hard and beautiful at the same time. And it's cold, but it's warm." Karin

One of the greatest Albums ever made! Top to Bottom perfection! You can literally just start from this first song & let it play to the end without ever hearing a bad song! (I don't really think The Knife knew how to make a bad song honestly!) I wish for new Knife album! Please!! 🙏 🙏 🙏

I always listen to th8s when I'm wide awake and decorating or doing something artistic, especially when it's cold outside gray &winter. Over around 10 yrs ago, I was going to perform at an exotic dance club to this with a green light show. I ended up leaving, though, to come back to Birmingham and leaving that club on the coast behind.

Some songs are like alligators. Their bodies lie still in the water, there is almost a tranquil feel to it watching them. But their eyes are above water. Fully awake and experiencing. There is a build up. A warning sign, an inner turmoil not visible above. There is more happening under that surface. There is something brooding. This is one of those songs!

I discovered The Knife at 17, through this song, 12 years ago. Still my favorite music project (maybe sharing the top spot with Portishead). In my opinion, some of the most original lyrics out there, one of the smartest uses of an eclectic repertoire of styles, always looking not only for new ways of making music, but also for new ways of understanding how music can participate on the path to a more plural and united society. Your songs have accompanied me in some of the most important stages and events of my life. Thank you.

Speaking of Portishead. I can remember exactly where I was and what I was doing the first time I heard them. I was 11 years old, in 6th grade, and it was fall of 1990. I was in my bedroom getting my school clothes ready for the morning. I had my little Sony boombox tuned to 102.1, and this...this SONG came on that was unlike anything I had ever heard before...I knew immediately that this was a band I'd have a long-term love affair with. I grabbed a blank cassette and threw it in the tape deck and hit record. This was pre-internet (at least pre-before-everyone-had-internet-access), so I could only hope the DJ said the name of the artist or song after the song ended--and he did! I asked for 'Dummy' for Christmas that year and, bless my parents, I got it on CD. I'll be 44 tomorrow and I'm lucky to have so many poignant memories which include Portishead on the figurative soundtrack.

Throbbing Gristle’s “Hot on the Heels of Love” is 43 years old, which is the musical and conceptual center of this song. And HHHL was a minimalist/industrial response to the disco maximalism of Giorgio Moroder’s 1977 “I Feel Love”.

@@magnushhogberg I guess it’s a matter of taste and occasion. It still sounds very nice to me in a dark warehouse early or late at night.
