Thanks for showing the community my Dad's Zippos he was immensely proud of them and was proud to have served his country. He served in the Navy and navy reserves from 1966-1986 or so. then worked at a federal facility in northeast Alabama for another 20 plus years. He loved his country to say the least. He is probably smiling knowing that other people appreciates his relics and understands the meaning of them.

I think it’s amazing that you honored Mr. Elmer and the fact that a subscriber was able to find that information.
@WoodsmanHobo77715 сағат бұрын
I tried doing the same in the original video with that service man's Zippo and looked up the name Barnett instead of Burnett and posted a comment with the wrong veteran and his details. I tried doing a good deed and ended up doing a disservice. My apologies.

Those were my dad's zippos featured today. Every lighter was somewhere he had been or a ship he went to while in the navy. He was a crew man on a grumman C1- trader. He was drafted in 1966

Amazing Awesome Museum is coming together . So much great gifts and contributions from people. It would be cool to make tiny small wood or ? Plaques with the people’s names that contributed- so as they would be remembered! If I recall sometimes back you were gifted a box full of Knife springs & blades,pins etc. larger springs or spring steel material can be carefully modified/ground shaped to make a replacement spring for that 100 year old knife ! Would been cool to keep both Blades. Great video. Thanks for sharing

Hey doc. Speaking of broken knife springs, a replacement spring can be made from an old skilsaw blade. No tempering necessary. I hope this helps on future repairs. Keep up the good work doc.❤

Awesome video, I've also got a Zippo that's dated 1951-1952 and has the name W.J.Laub on it. The ship on the Zippo is the U.S.S. Pittburgh CA 72. And on the back it has mediterranean cruise 1953, with all the places they went to. Would be awesome to find some information about the person that served on that ship, but haven't had much luck myself yet. If someone could help me out that would be awesome, also to restore the history of this person and lighter.

Yo, Doc... Awesome work on that old Boker. I love them old long pull, swedged blades. Truely saved a gem there. I seen a knife repairer use a $5 windshield repair kit from Amazon to hide & stabilize bone, acrylic, MOP & all kind of handle cracks disappear, it worked on a vintage 9333 Case xx pearl handle for me, ☠Rogue...out

Your reply made me cry. My dad cherished those old zippos. I've known of them my whole life but wouldn't let me touch them they meant so much to him. He passed in August 2024. He went to every ship or country on those zippos. I have no one to leave anything like that to. Glad the world could see his prized possessions.
