I’m in South Jersey and we normally go to Pennsylvania for gun shows. We will be going to the Oaks in Phoenix, PA the weekend before Christmas. It’s a huge show that we usually attend every year. Smaller shows have been better on prices for milsurp rifles and ammo which have come down slightly since Trump was elected. I’m hoping it’s much cheaper at the Oaks.

The Salisbury show this year didn't have as much selection as the one from the same time last year. I was kind of disappointed there were still a couple of decent deals there, but it's really disappointing to see all the cheap chinesium knife vendors moving in. I really miss the big gun show they used to have at the Greensboro coliseum that was a great one!

We have a couple of big shows that come several times a year in Hoover Al., but I stopped going, 12 dollars to get in then be insulted with stupid high prices, then a lot of nongun vendors, meat cures, windows, jewelry garbage. It's been probably I years since I bothered going

@@independentthinker8930 gun shows were a thing me and my dad use to do, it use to be the spot for deals back 20+ years ago. Now it's just a congregation of scalpers. I remember vividly, seeing the Same guy trying to sell a couple 30 carbines, for over 2000,..for atleast 5 years. I haven't been to one in a long time now, but I'd bet that guy is still showing up trying too sell that stuff.

You can still find a Garand for around 8 to 12, but you're getting a Korean war rework Springfield. A really clean H&R might hit the top end of that figure. The 2k+ rifles are ones with correct parts, correct barrel, correct stock with cartouche, etc. Springfields from WWII. Add at least 30% for a winchester.

Yea, in the good ole days, I bought an M44 Nagant from Abe Lincoln, at least he was dressed like Abe. And he sure looked like Abe. He was just walking around the show trying to sell it. I used to buy various guns from people walking around the show. I guess those days are gone.

Salisbury show is usually hit or miss. Ive got some killer deals on pre ban goodies. The shotgun guy is at EVERY show along with the older gentleman with surplus/bolt actions usually near the door. The one large mil surp is a good friend. Gotten tons of GREAT deals from him over the years.

Well, things are different here in Tampa. You said it’s 50 bucks to add shipping tax and transfer it seems all the FFL here are $50 each and they want to charge you at least 25 for shipping and then who knows whatever the sales taxes comes out to be on top of that and on top of that at the gun shows nobody’s getting a deal. It’s all full retail price, but at least it’s giving me the opportunity to put your hands on some things that otherwise you would only get to see online, for example the Turkish shotguns

Many years ago I passed up an opportunity to buy a Turkish Mauser from a guy walking around at a gun show.. 70 bucks he was asking. Like a complete idiot I didn't get it. Kick myself every time I've been to a show ever since. I do see people still walking around with guns to sell here in the Phoenix shows but there doesn't seem to be much dealing taking place. Seems for the most part the prices are as nuts as the vendors and most people just don't have that kind of cash. I agree with your assessment that gunshows could be on the way out.

Sir, gun shows back in the day we used to call them fun shows. We have a local gun show at an armory that I'm kind of eager to go to just to see what's going on in there. I'm not expecting any deals I'm just going to go see what the atmosphere is. There are no deals at the gun shows anymore and haven't been for many years. Also there are too many non firearm-related vendors that should not be allowed, I don't want to buy your macrame or your windows, if it's not gun related it shouldn't be allowed. That's not what we're going there for if I want Windows I'll go to home Depot. As far as the mill surplus they can keep it it's way out of reach now the prices are completely pornographic people are out of their minds. To touch on Black Friday. I didn't see any Black Friday deals that were worthy of anything. The only thing they put on sale at are little doodads that people don't really care about or want. They didn't put any big ticket items on sale for the most part. What really shocks me is that these people at these shows or the brick-and-mortar people either want to deny it or they don't realize that we all have computers, we know what things cost and we can shop the deal instantly. That means right down to the shipping costs, and in some cases there are still places that won't charge you sales tax. If you're into this hobby all of those charges add up and they add up fast especially if you have a collection. I just had a transfer done at a local Ace hardware store the end it cost me $30 by the time it was all said and done. $5.00 of it they called it a background check fee. What a sham. I have a local guy that I've been dealing with for years now does the transfer for $18.00. if he was available I would have gone through him. I won't be going back to Ace again.

Yeah gun shows are just about dead for hardly nobody buys very much at the shows anymore unless it's newbies just getting into guns !!! When I used to go years ago I would buy some ammo and get some good deals on select calibers from an ammo dealer out of Georgia named Georgia Arms but that was about 10 + years ago and now the gun shows aren't even at this particular coliseum anymore so I hardly go to them for ordering guns online has become the more convenient norm and I've pretty much collected all I want to except my cowboy gun collection could be more complete but again the prices have gone up out of the working class man's wallet !!!

I was there both days. Winston is coming 21st and 22nd. then Hickory at end of year. I agree with you its hard to find a good deal anymore at shows I blame gunbroker. folks bid up stuff and now the dealers think thats what its worth. I used to get M-1s at Woolworths for 250 tops in the 1980s. pin hookers is what we call the cats outside around the door

I go to most all the shows within a 100 mile radius of my home. (Actually, the 100 miles is sort of loose guide.) However, I am a collector of older arms from 1900 to the start of the Second World War. I have all the 'shooting' arms I need or want. Oh. I'm rather a sucker for S&W revolvers prior to about 1980 - especially prior to 1957. I have found looking for those arms are much like prospecting for gold. They are located where one finds them. So, gun shows are subject to search and not guarantees. I do find things (like the M1903 - type 1 - Colt pocket pistol) but not all the time. Also, for the last 40 years or so I have found going to a gun show to buy the latest release "Hyper-Bluwy Elite" version of whatever is NOT a winning strategy. Anything already expensive is not going to be cheaper at a gun show. No dealer or private owner wants (sometimes cannot) to sell at a loss. Military surplus and 'collectable' items are becoming more scarce. I collect old .32 ACP pistols. When I first began doing so, they were cheap. They were really marginal arms for self defense and the woods were full. Ahem - they've been 'discovered'. Much more expensive (considering inflation) than long ago. Under the present - last on how one sees it - administration, the ATF were actively working to prevent normal citizens from selling firearms. The Supreme Court seems to disagree and the incoming administration appears to be amenable to viewing the sale firearms in the same way as the sale of automobiles, old dishes and houses. On a different tack. I live in the central plateau of the United States. Gun shows are similar to the one you described and a bit different. I expect this to be true around the country. But nowhere should one go to a gun show and find his or her dream gun at a fire sale price.
