Secret Wisconsin Lake - Hidden Northwoods Gem

We had the incredible opportunity to stay at a private lake Airbnb, and it turned into an ice fishing trip we won’t forget! We had heard rumors about giant crappies lurking in the lake, so we were excited to see if we could get on a solid bite. While we did catch a few crappies, they were pretty average in size-but what really shocked us were the massive bluegills we pulled through the ice! Some of these fish were absolute tanks, making for an unforgettable day on the ice.

Awesome day on the ice you guys had, jigging up giant Panfish is what ice fishing is all about! Lakes with big panfish are getting more and more slim, and far between sadly. Some guys don’t always understand why some fisherman are so tight lipped, but in the information and technology age we live in info spreads like wildfire. A lot of people fish, and everyone wants to tell someone else, bring friends and family, it’s all understandable and respectable that some guys keep things on the downlow! I fish all over WI myself and run a fishing page here as well, and it’s always in the back of my mind that even when we don’t mention spots or name drop locations, someone always recognizes the spots we fish it seems no matter how secret or remote they are. But great video, I subscribed as well! Good luck fishing 🎣!

FWIW, There are no "private lakes" in the State of Wisconsin. All waters, even if it's a pond on your land is considered public water. Now... access is a different issue. If a public body of water is surrounded by private property there is no legal ACCESS to said water unless you have permission (implied via AirBNB) or granted by a property owner. Little, nit-picky thing I like to have fun with. One other access might be via an inlet or outlet that you can legally access at some point. By law you are permitted to use that waterway, whether you paddle, walk, ski or, depending upon, sled or ATV "in the bed of the waterway up to the highwater mark. Neat vid. I love prospecting out of the way locations 👋😄

Not a lot of lakes around anymore like that.Everybody throws everything in their bucket and wipes out the species and the DNR doesn't stock the lakes for panfish

Do you fish a slow transcending slope or a drastic drop off, and if you’re fishing it do you fish the shallower side or right above the drop? Lets say there’s a drastic drop off, the ledge is 15ft and it’s drastic drop to 20+ feet deep, are you fishing the 15ft part or are you fishing right at the 20+ feet part or are you fishing right in between?

But the reason I’m asking is cause people be posting map of contour on fb and asking where to fish and a lot of time people will circle where they would fish and always seem like their a 13-14ft of water next to a steep sudden drop off.

I thought maybe it was caught on the ice and lost some slime to freezing to the ice before it was released. Once the slime is gone, it succumbed to bacterial or fungal infection.

Dude, my family has lived on that lake for years. Not a fan of that airbnb on it at all, but whatever. I just hope people respect the resource because if it was public it'd turn into a mediocre lake really quick. Used to catch largemouth 20-23 inches all the time in the 2010s there.

I’m sure someone disliked when your family moved on the lake too. My Dad owned a cabin on a private lake and 20 acres of hunting land. We fished and hunted. There was no public access, so no one asked to fish, but people would ask to hunt. I asked him why and he said remember when we had to ask people to hunt their land and they would let us. I said yes and he replied never forget that. Moments like that taught me not to be self centered. Technically this is Gods world and we all are using everything. He can change things real fast

@bobbybrooks5846 Yeah people have moved in over the years but we've been on since the 60s. No one else around. Used to have walleye in it too. No one else aerated the lake but us either. Winter killed 2 times, would have been a few more if we didn't aerate. Lake used to be all stunted panfish and big bass n northern. Scared of people throwing trash and destroying years of work to get it to where it is.
