Nirbhay Singh Gurjar, born in Panchdeori, Uttar Pradesh in 1957, was a notorious dacoit known as the "Last Lion of Chambal." Terrorising the Chambal ravines for 31 years, he met his end in a police encounter in Etawah on 7 November 2005. Despite his criminal activities, Gurjar wielded influence in the region, reportedly aiding in political elections. Surprisingly, he and his gang assisted the Archaeological Survey of India in restoring Bateshwar Hindu temples in Madhya Pradesh, showcasing an unexpected facet of his life. This complex figure's story was portrayed in the Bollywood film "Beehad - The Ravine." In a twist of fate, Gurjar expressed a desire to surrender and enter politics in August 2005, hinting at a potential transition from a life of crime to mainstream political involvement.
