Your observation of the state of what etosha offer in their camps is spot on. Sad. But true.

It’s a shame.. we’re seeing it more and more through Africa though. “World heritage sites” that look like dumping grounds 😂

I have been following you guys since you picked up your Landy in Durban. I am also into Overlanding and have enjoyed the positive spirit in which you present the videos of your adventures. Don’t let the lure of the “freebies” influence this spirit to much. Many of the other guys I have followed, their channels seem to become more about promoting their equipment partners than the adventure. I look forward to following your fantastic travels!

Have to second many of the comments about Etosha. Went to Etosha for first time July this year. Wouldn’t bother to return. Okaukeujo camp is one of the worst I have stayed at. No shade or privacy and the ablutions are inadequate and overwhelmed. The saving grace is the waterhole. But in all the wildlife was underwhelming and I have seen better wildlife in a morning driving the Kruger than we had in 4 days in Etosha. The highlight was supposed to be Olifantsrus, however we arrived there and it had a mad max end-of-the-world vibe with shredded awnings flapping in the wind and filthy toilets. We were assigned a bad site (despite it being empty). Fly blown and bad vibes all round. We didn’t even unpack and drove to Galton Gate and left the park and went to Hobatare Lodge which is a could of kms up the road. It’s owned by the local community and very welcoming and the countryside is riverine and the difference between this place and Etosha was stark. I hope NWR start addressing some the issues regarding staff, facilities and the state of the roads…Etosha is a bloody long drive and people might just start voting with their feet.

Thanks for this. Yeah that sounds like a similar experience to ours to be honest. There are some much nicer parks in Namibia than etosha. If we aren’t being honest about our experiences then I feel we’re letting people down who may visit with higher expectations. Cheers H

Just in case it's interesting to you. When you say "as you were fellas" that is a black wildebeest on the left. Looks similar to the blue one, but its horns are different. Great video as always. Was cool to see you utilizing your vehicle as my wife and I are figuring out how to build out our car. Thanks as always!

We went in Galton Gate- the roads started out ok but soon were horrendous.. Took hours to find a ‘picnic site/toilet’- horrific is an understatement 🤢 .. and we’re salt of the earth, easy going folks Still love Africa- still love your vlogs ❤ stay safe

30 years ago we were booked on at Namutoni for a week , when we arrived the staff were shocking and the accommodation was disgusting, we left immediately and made our way back to South Africa. Such a pity that one of Africa's best game reserves is so mismanaged . Your filming and content is great enjoy your trip.

Good morning! Maybe this is something we can share in the next video! The route is not so impressive yet 😂 but sure we can try share this! And the bag on the bonnet is fine. It more to keep weight off the roof rack. And actually is pretty useful to store firewood things like that 😀 Harry

Your observations about Erohsa are spot on. I got a lot of hate for calling it out but I think these places will hopefully improve if people don't just accept the current state. Enjoying traveling with you guys virtually, can't wait for you to experience Botswana!

Thank you both for sharing your incredible journey. We look forward to your videos coming out. They are very inspiring for those of us that cant follow a path like yours quite yet, but makes me want to keep saving and keep planning. Could you maybe do a future video how too, about getting your truck to Africa and the paperwork, visas, carnets, phone connectivity issues etc from the uk. All seems overwhelming to me, but would love to know about your planning process. Take care and keep exploring and dreaming. One life. Cherio🖐️

I agree with your observations about the facilities and staff. I also agree it is very pricey, but i am still surprised that you only stayed on night. The floodlit water hole at Okaukuejo is absolutely awesome with tons of game coming to you. We spent two long evenings at that water hole. The recommended period to stay in Etosha is 3-4 days. I understand the expense may have cut your stay short but feel you really missed out there. Thank you for another great video.

I agree with you I think we should have stuck it out. That campsite we got to. The lady on reception didn’t tell us there was a water hole when we asked if there was one. She was so incredibly rude and would barely look up at me when I was talking to her. To be honest it put me in a bad mood and I decided not to spend my money there. It was only later on looking at iOverlander that we saw people had said the watering hole in that camp was the best part of the park. 😂 Cheers H

Nice video once again! Despite some of the negative experiences, it makes us feel like we're right there with you. 👌Pity about the staff and ablutions but hey! Making the most of the situation is important else it'll dampen your entire trip experience. Parts of Botswana is the same in terms of poor facilities. Not that you shouldn't complain! Honest reviews helps the park hopefully listen and do something! As well as helps us as viewers.
