I was 15 years old and paid $5 to watch U2 play at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe on that drizzly and cold night and my life was never the same! I typed in this song this morning and I can not believe Im seeing this, always wondered if they filmed this song that night. Seriously THANK YOU, you made my Christmas morning :-)

It's true. Tix to the show were indeed $5. You actually had to pay $10, but what you got was the same seat to 2 shows (12/19 & 12/20/1987). Each of the tix did say $5 though. U2 added these last 2 shows to the tour a couple weeks earlier for the express purpose of filming (for what became part of Rattle & Hum) as the culmination of a transforming year for the band. The other somewhat unique aspect of these shows was that tix actually went on sale across the country (mind you this was pre-internet) so it drew fans from all over who road tripped it like myself from Los Angeles.

@@torreypine1 I recall paying only $5 for tix for 12/20 show only. Had to stand in line outside Dillards department store at Paradise Valley Mall in Phoenix for several hours. They handed out raffle tickets to get in to buy your tickets. I picked up 5 tix for myself and family members. I still have the ticket stub - it has "Tkt Implies Film Waiver" printed on front. I recall they sold tix for just $5 to ensure the stadium was filled completely for the film.

This concert was my very first date with the man I married, father of my children, Blake. It was an amazing, enchanting evening... Bb KIng opened the show and for a few moments it snowed ! Ever so lightly, still you could see the snowflakes coming down over the crowd and the stage, a memorable evening...

I felt the magic in my youth watching this kinda revived old U2 memories dormant cell in my brain. There was nothing like seeing U2 in concert and sharing with friends I'd introduced to u2s live powerful performances playing hit songs even better than they were on the album with the best clear stage sound! I lived and breathed this band and everyone I knew were into the typical sheeple stuff. U2 were great but in my world you were outside the box to be into them and pretty much had to attend their concert to see the masses of U2 fans packed around the stadium. Ive lost my excitement as theyve gotten soft because of Bono I believe. My hero just lost so much coolness and its affected the music and lousy album songs since ATYCLB, imo. Thers no song today in past 4 or 5 albums that just excites me to listen to over and over like I've never herd it before like I did almost 20yrs ago and farther. Thanks for making me relive a younger magical time!

Sorry, but I feel like Weird Al should make a parody of this. I don't know if it would have anything to do with Christmas, but it would mainly be about the end of the world. (similar to his song "Christmas At Ground Zero) Possible title: "Apocalypse (Baby Please Come Home)" About the song itself, their version's much better than the original. The only thing is it kind of depresses me. (The chord progression, (anything with the first two chords always depresses me.) but especially Bono's long "Oooh" at 2:18, 2:31 and 2:44)

Why did he repeat some of the verses, unlike the studio version? (The intro in that version is better imo. "This Christmas, baby please come home...YEAH!") But the way he changes it from "Baby, please come home" to "Babe, I'm comin' home" at the end makes me think someone should make a version where the singer's the person who left his/her lover. (Ah) They're singing "Deck The Halls" (Ah) But it's not like Christmas at all (Ah) 'Cause I remember when you were here (Ah) And all the fun we had last year That would be replaced with something like this.
