Ioniq 5 was '80s ideals meeting 2020's design, this takes its ideals from the '90s and I love it. It reminds me of my parents' Carina II and a slew of '90s family saloons, but melded with Porsche speed and that hint of '40s class. It's a nostalgia smoothie and I love it.

i don't want one of them because it's a Electric car for Childreens to recharge in my country on 51 Nuclear power plant . So the Electric cars in my country are good to make radioactive waste shiii . So it's very stupid at all , not ecological at all , not a good idea at all ... i prefer to keep my HDI DIESEL Double Chevron , that pollute black like a streamer when i incrase the speed pedal but she pollute less than a Electric car for sure ; well in my country at least. ........ But if one day I am forced for X or Y reason to own an electric car, I would make it autonomous and I'm counterbalance my noodle, if it's not allowed or better prohibited, I'm not a cash cow.. . In my region of France there are at least 340 days of sunshine per year, so I will either stick a whole bunch of solar panels on it of the same type , which are glued to the hulls of racing sailboats, they are Multicristalain and have the particularity of recharging even in rainy weather, all coupled to a charge regulator and a charge dispatcher to the different batteries... Otherwise there is even simpler and less expensive to set up, the principle is simple, to manufacture Electricity like that of the lighting of a bicycle, the DYNAMO, improved of course on ball bearings for example with a small generator 12volts output and the same charge regulators and dispatchers. P.S : Dodge design streering wheel , Mercedes benz like dashbord & front seats ...Hyundai are Patchwork designed cars .

I am on my third EV, all Kia, a family of Hyundai. My sister is currently driving Hyundai Kona with almost 300 mile range even after 3 years. Ioniq is definitely a better designed car, but Hyundai still needs to do better on head room. Beautiful car. And most people are too scared of the range. I suppose they wanted to cater to ghe demand for the over 300 mile range cars but all that's happening is that the cars are bigger. Kia ev6 /ioniq 5 and now the 6 , all far bigger than the original ioniq EV 😞
@peterhenson7201
@peterhenson7201 2 жыл бұрын
Well huge is a relative thing. We originally intended to replace my wife's SQ5 with the Ioniq 5. The Audi is about an inch longer and taller, but the same width, so the the Hyundai's footprint is that of medium-sized SUV. I can 'do a Jonny' and sit behind myself (one of the things I've tested in all the cars I've considered buying over the last few years) and there's so much legroom in the back that I can slide the rear seat forward and still have space to spare. And with that rear seat a few inches forward the boot is bigger than my now-departed Audi A6 - that's using a tape measure not the official figures! The 'frunk', although small on my AWD version, is still big enough for the charging cables, tyre inflation kit, and a few other bits and bobs.
@Antiguan_Dart
@Antiguan_Dart 2 жыл бұрын
Over-all vehicle length is one of the factors in me deciding on the Genesis GV60 at 4.515m it is 165mm (6.5inches) shorter than the EV6 (4.680m). But still longer than the Evoque (4.371m) Nissan Qashqai (4.425m) and Kia Ceed (4.320m). A lot of new EVs are very long for UK roads/parking spaces. I recently measured an EV charging space bay length as 4.81m. I look forward to some more diminutive EV offerings.

The story of Hyundai is even more remarkable than I ever imagined. I live in Canada where the Pony was introduced in 1983. It was marketed as an alternative to eastern bloc cars such as Lada and Skoda, low hanging fruit. I honestly believed to this day that it was licensed copy of one of those cars, it was so forgettable. The initial sales predictions for 1984 was 5,000 units, it surpassed 25,000 that year making it one of the best selling cars in the country mainly due to its ultra low cost... It was terrible and terrifying in equal messure. We had one as a yard car that literally had it's door come unhinged while rounding a bend sending the unbelted passenger rolling out on to the pavement in the yard. Fast forward to about a decade ago and I start to make reference to this early memory when I'm talking about the Genesis cars and just how far they have come. In the last five years that brand has consistently met or exceeded the expectations of many so called luxury marques... At half the price, sometimes even less. With models knocking hard on the doors of even the venerable S class or 5 series. All the reviews seem to tell the same story, if you had money would you opt for one of these instead? Or would you spend a fortune to "buy the real thing"? That speaks volumes. And now we find ourselves at this junction. This company including Kia are poised to become the dominating force in automotive manufacturing. 40 years might seem like a long time to some folks but when you consider the established luxury brands (you know who you are) have had an almost 80 year head start... The story is incredible. As a sixteen year old car geek, if you told me the Koreans were going to build world class, stylish cars and do it cheaper. I would have told you, never going to happen. But here we are. PS I too love that the models are entirely different, cause everything looks the same these days. How refreshing!
@XenonJohnD
@XenonJohnD 2 жыл бұрын
Here is how it all started. Sir George Turnbull left the ailing British Leyland and went to work for the Koreans where he might as well have arrived from another planet. This may be why the first Hyundai Pony looked like an updated Morris Marina if you squint slightly. Not such a joke now though as the British car industry of that era has long gone and the Koreans are making some very good cars: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mauWq32Fh9uhqqc

Production values on the LBS climb with every release, just brilliant. As for the car, totally agree Hyundai are bossing it. Tesla once looked futuristic, now they look bland compared to this. A CLS Taycan but pure Hyundai. Once I’ve scratched the itch with my current P450 F Type, this is on a very short list of My first EV.

I really like this, and I've been waiting for carmakers to actually focus on making aerodynamic, efficient cars. I'm a bit over SUVs and aggressive, wedge shapes cars so this design is really refreshing. Interesting use of materials as well - I feel that manufacturers aren't brave enough with interiors these days, especially with colours and textures. I feel that Citroen are really missing a trick by by not doing an electric DS or CX homage, given the way people in this comments section are responding to this design. I'd love to see how this thing would look with some rear wheel spats.

The designers seemed to have started with a strong and purposeful front, then gave it some extra schwung along the sides but finally lost track when they arrived at the back. It's too much a mishmash for me to really appreciate it. The Ionic 5 is on style far more cohesive in comparison and wins by a country mile.

That means that I'm going to have to settle for something that doesn't appeal to me nearly as much as these beauties.

Hyundai/Kia are actually making me do double takes on the road and walk up to them in carparks. No modern car has peaked my interest like these South Korean EVs have, just from an aesthetical perspective. There was a British Racing Green Sportage in my local Morrisons the other day and I couldn't keep my eyes off it. The Niro MK1 looks great and the upcoming MK2 looks even better. I feel like a car-obsessed kid when I see these things and dare I say it - I rather want one.

I saw my first Ionic 5 the other day, most EVs round here are Stallantis or Renault products with the odd Tesla. None stand out at all. I don't do car spotting, hate the oversized blob shaped crossover shape of most cars, but the Ionic 5 just stood out and made me want one. Still above my budget, my first EV will probably be the new Renault 5 in 2024, I have my name down at the local Renault dealer for one when the order books open up.

Having been the owner of a Hyundai Matrix for almost 20 years, I'm probably biased, but this car is brilliant. Definitely elements of the 911 in the rear view so much so that a non car aficionado would mistake it for one. That side view (especially at the rear quarter) has, as said, a striking resemblance to the first CLS. The front some Citroën DS, perhaps? The overall droopy tail, no grill, bulbous flanks shape harks back to the 2nd gen Elantra of the mid 90s that to me was a rip off of the EG Civic. Love this thing. But then I'm biased.

Hyundai is been a sleeper carmaker for years. My 1st one was a Elantra SE. There was something different about the car’s suspension felt different than a FWD platform. It didn’t lean much nor did it dive under heavy braking. Turns out that Hyundai poached some suspension experts from BMW to help with the cars set up. There were other things that I loved about it too. The car’s interior wear resistance was impressive. And, the car really could take a beating. It outlasted other things I drove. The VW Jetta, the Chevy Malibu, the Ford Fusion, all took second seat to this car. Now, about the Ioniq 6. It is a car not only a car with a sophisticated design and smartly executed interior interface, but also an industry game changer. This status is akin to the Apple iPhone. Notwithstanding its deserved praise, the Ioniq 6’s looks don’t seem to be all that. Certainly, it could not have been like the concept car in which it is based, but it could have retained more. The front lights design, for example, leaves a lot to be desired. Ditto panel gaps. But the interior is butter, but seem a bit restrained as well. Likely, this was to preserve sales of Genesis sedans. When the dust clears, one has a winner of a car.
