exactly! all of these people in the comments acts like they believe magic tricks are real magic or something. all of magic tricks are just trickery, illusion, lies, scam and most importantly, sleight of hand. for me, a good magician isn't someone with just fancy tricks, a good magician is someone who can deliver it well and in an entertaining way. I would take a simple card trick with an amazing build up any day over a magician who acts like he's flying 60 cm off the ground with no delivery at all.

Joshua needed to include one more unknown number to the calculation in order to hide the method. In its current form, this trick is begging to be reverse engineered in order to find out the calculator guy's passcode, and the strange number this produces immediate flags the calculation as a sham.

Not sure if the guy with the phone is in on the act, the phone itself (or both), or some other stooge was used. I don't really like tricks like this as its just forced from the very beginning and could not have been any other number.

Okay this is so easy to figure out. All those numbers people gave him don’t add up to the number the guy read off his phone. The phone reader is a planted assistant. So he read off a pre arranged number. A number that they figured out ahead of time, which when viewed upside down looks like letters. The dollar bill is also forced, so they can imprint the T shirt ahead of time with the correct missing piece. A small black square covering is removed, revealing the imprint. Clever idea, fun delivery.... but not the most impressive slight of hand

stupid trick and here is why: this trick has been done millions of times before: the dollar bill that she gave him didn't get torn, he had another one that was already torn and palmed in his right hand. He gave james the torn piece from that bill. Since the bill that was used is the palmed bill, then the SN is known. The calculator that the guy had, already had the the SN entered followed by 0x all the numbers they entered later on. and finally, the grand finally when the number and dollar sign are embedded into the shirt, he made shirt switch effect while putting away the other shirts under the table.

For everyone commenting saying the guy with the calculator and the dollar are plants...while I can't guarantee this to be false for this performance...this is NOT the case in his NYC show. I took a group of students to a closed door performance in NYC. Nobody in the audience was planted. He had one of our teachers use her cel...and took a dollar from me. So in our case..the trick was done in some other fashion.

The trick is quite simple once you understand it's all setup in advance. The calculator being used has the number the magician wants programmed into it beforehand. It's then set so it looks like it's zero out. Any numbers then input will end up with the original number the magician wanted Once you know that the rest is very easy to follow
