Here are the results in order of highest score to lowest score: (reminder, if you have feedback on any of these hose reels, let people know in the comments because it is legitimately helpful).
1. Hoselink (also the MOST expensive) : amzn.to/3PxUlRr
2. Glahoden (best bang for your buck) : amzn.to/3IO9mKW
3. Gardena : amzn.to/3IMfCDc
4/5 tie. Flexzilla : amzn.to/3TsFnxf
5/5 tie. Vevor (This was obviously NOT a long term test but if I had to guess which of these would wear out the fastest, it would be this one which makes sense because it is the cheapest option. Just had to throw this out there) : amzn.to/497s6jA
6. Giraffe (*NEW DEVELOPMENT* - Giraffe now has an option for a METAL BRACKET and since that was our biggest gripe for this reel, that alone would move this one up the list!) : amzn.to/3TLVPtQ
7. Blubery : amzn.to/4a0QMLI
8. Retracta: amzn.to/3vf5NdX
Side Note: If you are looking for garden hose quick connects, I did a video on the best of those also but spoiler alert, eley was the best: www.eleyhosereels.com/?rfsn=6...

I want to point out that the metal bracket for Giraffe wasn’t an option when I ordered 🤷🏼‍♂️. BUT it is an option now and that one thing would have given the giraffe tools reels 2 extra points and would have put them at number 4 assuming all of us still didn’t pick it as one of our top 3.

We bought a Hoselink two years ago and absolutely love it. We plan on adding more for each of our gardening zones across our 7-acre property over time. My ex-Navy husband is particularly fond of not having to manually coil hoses lol. I like that they're easy to store, it's just a matter of moving the case off of the bracket in the fall and popping it back on in the spring. By the same token, for now we have several posts with brackets installed and because we only have the one reel, we just put it in the back of the garden cart and move it as we need. Never have to worry about running it over with the mower or anything else. Hard recommend.

Is use Gardena now for more than 40 years and with the exception of a few adapters and a shower head, I have never had any problems. And the faulty parts were replaced without any problems. Plastic suffers over time and sun and becomes porous. You then have to replace it. But that's not a problem given the prices.

Great review. 1 suggestion. When retracting, you should release the pressure from the hose until it is fully retracted. This allows the water to escape while it winds up and prevents excessive weight from slowing it down. Also, excessive weight being placed on the bracket, which is why many of the reels have plastic brackets. They were not intended to be reeled up full of water.

Imo that would reduce the effectiveness of the hose reel by a lot. Our Hoselink is hooked up and turned on all spring summer and fall, zero issues. Grab the hose and go and reel up when done. We dont walk to the spigot at all

Great job with the review guys. It was straight forward and very informable! I have a Hoselink since July 2019 and it's been working great. I love my Hoselink. I do have 2 Giraffes also, simply for the fact that they offered a longer hose length (155 ft), which I needed. This may also be a reason to go with the 1/2. They don’t lock as easily as the Hoselink, and the charcoal grey has faded terribly. Still, serve their purpose well and in general both have been GAME CHANGERS in my garden. ❤
@Pro1er

The charcoal gray Hoselink will turn to ash gray in one or two years if it is exposed to a lot of Sun. They sell a cover for it but then you no longer have a charcoal gray Hoselink. If they can't use UV resistant plastic then the cover really should be included with the reel.

Purchased 6 hoselinks for our large property this year. One of them had an especially hard time reeling back in the last five feet and was constantly left out because it was so difficult. It was then damaged by a mower after being left out. Emailed hoselink and they are out of stock of the repair kit. Not having the option to get parts when accidental damage renders the entire unit useless is a huge downside for us and I feel is something a lot of people don’t consider. We now have a $249 hoselink that no one can use and cannot reel back in. Just something to keep in mind when investing in these. Check to make sure they are good about stocking parts or consider going with the more affordable options that are cheaper to replace.

You can do an emergency repair with a suitable hose connector 3:02 and some hose clamps from the hardware store. It won’t retract completely but you can use it until the Hoselink repair kit is available. Or you could get the low profile hose spring clamps and some shrink tubing backed up by some waterproof adhesive. This is essentially the Hoselink kit.

I converted my home front and back hoses to Hoselink, even have the Hoselink 18mm commercial hoses for work (better water pressure and higher flow). Mainly did it because where I live in Australia fittings get too hot in summer (37-45°C most days) and blow apart or fall off. Hoselink has not failed me in the last 10 years. Only downside is the prices.

@@Ang.0910 I love it! It’s a smaller diameter than my Hoselink and easier to maneuver.

Gardena all day every day! I have a pretty extensive setup of Gardena at home, robot mower, fully automated sprinkler system with 5 moisture sensors for each section of the yard. My raised beds uses Gardena automated watering system and in a few weeks when my garage is done, I have a 35m hose reel as an all round setup. Everything works like a charm!

As usual, I bought the most expensive one this March 😆 BUT I did get it on a 10% off sale so that’s a bonus - Hoselink - AND it’s already been worth every penny not to have to struggle winding a long hose around my house. I watch the Garden Answer YT channel & that’s all they have used for years so I felt the product had been thoroughly tested by them on their multi-acre gardens. You get what you pay for! Kudos to Hoselink! Thanks for your review of all of the different hoses - it validated my purchase.

I have the 80 foot hoselink. I love it. It’s very easy to move to the front of our home to wash cars or water. It weighs about 35lbs. ❤

I bought the Glahoden early this year form Amazon 100ft x 5/8 inch for $100 (they had some discount) the price has gone up since. Its good and solid unit and I am happy with it, definitely go for the 5/8". I don't know why you give an extra point for metal, the metal could rust also the metal bracket does not appear solid, keep in mind these units are heavy 30-40 lbs. The plastic bracket in the Glahoden is solid and will not rust. I am impressed with the Glahoden so far. The only problem is that they did not have any contact information. So if I have any issues I will have to call Amazon to get their contact information.

Regarding hose size - remember that as volume increases, pressure decreases. So yes, while you get a higher flow rate, the sprinkler you hook it up to may not perform very well

One thing I didn’t see in your review. I just got my first Hoselink. Absolutely LOVE it! One thing I didn’t expect and LOVE is the included spray nozzle. It’s the nicest I’ve ever used. I would like to know how it compared with the rest. Thanks!

Got a 5/8” hose GLAHODEN retractable hose reel a few weeks ago after watching your video, thanks. So far am very happy with it. I keep a small towel over the handle to wipe the hose as it returns. Have the 100 foot model, have extended it out 2 times, just need to remember to shut the water off when I retract the hose. Like the nozzle, can switch to different patterns. Thanks

I’ve had the Gardena for 4 years and have been very happy. Second year, I spaced out and forgot to drain it for the winter and was sure I ruined it but 2 years later it’s still going strong with no leaks. I did have the sprayer break early on but they replaced it and it’s been fine since.
