I like your videos - good info , no talking showing the whole ‘airline’ experience with the seats/meals/airports /airplane, the landings the taxi the take off it’s all there , good music -this is a proper airline review - no belittling countries and security checks and or the food the constant rant about ‘Delhi belly/food poisoning/ the roads etc in India it’s so overdone (I know India has its problems but there are so many good things as well ) would love to mention names of some German and English airline reporters who do that all the time talk negative about India and other countries, like the sound of their voice so they go on and on but I won’t (don’t want to even give them even that much publicity) they just lucked out starting earlier and so have a subscriber base ( not me) . Anyway keep these reviews coming and I really wish you go right to number one in this genre of KZbinrs. All the best .

Thanks Ajay for the very kind words! I know exactly who you mean.. I’m specially annoyed by one that is always complaining and getting people in trouble. Sad. I’m from Europe myself an I much rather go to India sometimes than Europe or the States. The other day I was in Long Beach, California, stunning.. But I couldn’t exercise early morning as the streets were plagued with zombie addicts. I was shocked. Same in New York. In Barcelona, my home town, I’ll get robbed as soon as I flash a phone or watch. So we all have our problems, but fail to mention them! Have a nice one 😉

7:00 That was unfortunate. Glad NH is finally featured in your channel and to be fair, I think I agree with your criticisms which I find refreshing and objective especially when most reviewers on YT just heap praises on JL and NH. I agree with your take on their business class. It looks pretty generic considering their premium branding but if I'm not mistaken, they just added a new business class design lately and I hope you could give it a try one day. Cheers!

I believe the flight control check and selecting flaps after commencing taxi is standard ANA procedure. There are several very old ANA cockpit videos (just search ANA Blue on Blue on youtube), and they actually do that in those videos. I believe it's to shorten their ground time just a little bit.

Window seats get to onboard first mainly because if we go by the normal order, there will be congestion at the walkway. Personally I find it a better system. Forgot to add, hence an edit. I believe the act of gifting in Japan when they are the host (as in providing service with the touch of omotenashi) is the same as the act of tipping in Japan. Not only it is rude, but outright insulting. Back when I work in a Japanese company, the host rejected our gifts (sambal paste from Malaysia). Kind of spoilt a bit of mood in an otherwise good working trip in Japan.
@TheLayoverAviation2 ай бұрын
Thanks for your story! Loved comparing to it. I really don’t mind taking a gift back, it’s just how it’s done. If they had just said “no thanks a lot, but we simply cannot” would have done enough. But it wasn’t said that way. Anyway, I would have loved your sambal!

Not that long ago airlines would offer more spacious seats to us tall folk - now I have to pay (extra) for the privilege of not having my legs crushed 😞. One of the reasons I've started using the Chinese airlines to Asia is that their legroom is much better than most European and Middle Eastern carriers

Fantastic video! I find ANA's cabin quite disappointing compared to JAL. Their seats are less wide and the screens look very small and old for a plane built in 2016. Calling that food item 'naan' is insulting to Indian culture. 24:10, thank you for showing the city close to my home, Lucknow. I wish you come here some day. As a foodie you will really like the Awadhi cuisine there (you can get way better naan there). The lack of vegetarian food options for a flight to India is intolerable. I did NOT expect to see Japanese toilets on an aircraft! Although thinking about it, it makes sense haha. I was in japan about a month ago, one of my favourite countries ever! amazing video once again!! Also regarding the cabin crew returning your gift, i'd assume its because of the culture of the Japanese people, for example, tips aren't welcome in restuarants as everything is added on already which I assume applies here as well that giving the crew extra just isn't something thats culturally traditional for them!

Depends on your POV. Maybe Indians want to open up to other culture and watch/eat non-Indian stuff on planes. The beef based menu though is problematic. Japanese airlines are flying more and more to India now due to the much increased trade and tourism between the two countries. It is going to take some time for the two cultures to understand and adapt. I prefer Japanese carriers to American carriers to fly over to Tokyo or Osaka. Marita is a bit far from the city, so Haneda is my first preference airport. Osaka-Kypto is my favorite area to visit and stroll through mountain villages.
@TheLayoverAviation2 ай бұрын

I think you’re right re how ANA should reposition the experience to be more Indian. And lower the cost. Indians don’t necessarily fly the best, they choose economy and convenience over comfort if the option is available. Even LH have turned their Indian offerings around in the last few years and you’re seeing the ME carriers now fly to tier 2 and 3 cities in India, which theoretically are better served by LCC’s. But the fact the ME carriers are flying there is testament to the revenues the routes offer for migrant, business and leisure. ANA must be one of the few airlines without some customization for the Indian market (toilet signs notwithstanding 😊).

You should also try the Room business class product on the 777s to North America. I hated the review by Noel Philips as I felt that he was being overly harsh and was criticising every little detail of the product despite being in a cabin that is already extremely world-class and impressive, something that is almost aspirational to the majority of flyers. @TheLayoverAviation2 ай бұрын
JAL is much better, I agree. Regarding the boarding process, everything works much better in Japan regardless due to the strict order of doing stuff. The same is with north-Europeans, such as Dutch and Germans. Very organized and planes board in minutes. Do u think they have bad service on this route because of destination or ana is bad everywhere ? I realised the bathroom sign and why it was mentioned but was going to avoid saying cause it will make feel bad to some people. I believe both are correct in their own position. And it is very true u hardly complain in the video. So it must be really bad food.
@TheLayoverAviation2 ай бұрын
Thanks for being understanding. I hate complaining. But when you charge 4x the price of any other connecting flight, when you’re in the top 5 airlines; I do come with very high expectations. And I don’t want to be told how to leave the toilet. I can guarantee you that in a luxury hotel you won’t find notes how to do your business in the toilet. They’re good. The legroom is great, service is generous.. Crew were nice to some of the passengers, but blunt to others. The food wasn’t bad, but wasn’t good either. Serving beef though was a nasty thing to do to Indians though.

@@TheLayoverAviation I believe the only reason the bathroom sign because of the destination. Because I seen in lot of flights. There was an airline in top position and big airline only because it never flew to the destination of the country until recently. It used to get top 5*for cleanliness. Not sure anymore if they have tie up or they started flying. Not arguing what you said just adding 1 more perspective.

I know, but the issue is having time off 😂 I love Lisbon, haven’t been in over 10 years. But hey, never say never. I’ll try to fly on TAP’s A321neo or A330neo, looking forward to that!

Are they mad serving beef on a route to Northern India? Make sense if the destination is Kerala, India but certainly a big no to Delhi bound flight. Imagine ANA flies to saudi Arabia serving ‘that’ non halal meat. It’s a serious oversight. Question to you, do you know why there is a small horizontal door on the cabin divider walls, the crew opens and closes it the same time they open/close the cabin curtains. Not specific just to ANA, noticed it many times on many airlines but couldn’t figure why is it for? see 21:37
@TheLayoverAviation2 ай бұрын
That is exactly what I mean. Nobody serves pork to Dubai, and I don’t remotely mind even if I love the meat. Big oversight on a top carrier. Yes, I know what that divider is. It’s only opened for taxi, take off and landing. While it gives privacy to Business Class customers, it allows the crew in the front to have a view of Economy Class during critical flight phases. They wouldn’t be able to see the cabin if it was closed!

As an Indian myself, I don't mind that ANA didn't serve Indian food. It's a Japanese airline. My issue is the fact that they didn't serve any vegan or vegetarian options and that they served beef.
@TheLayoverAviation2 ай бұрын
I don’t want them to serve Indian food. Japanese is perfect for me on a Japanese carrier. But like you mentioned; swap the beef for fish or veg out of respect. It’s just the correct thing to do..

If beef and such signs were put up by a South East Asian, Middle Eastern or a European Airline, there would have been calls for boycott all over the country. Even government would have created an amazing fuss over it, DGCA should come up with strict regulations and treat every airline equally. Now I got to know why ANA is still avoiding GCC countries. Highly disappointed😞😞 I wanted to fly one day with them on the BOM - NRT route but now I've changed my mind. It's better to fly through SIN, BKK, KUL or HKG. Totally unprofessional!
@TheLayoverAviation2 ай бұрын
JAL is also a nice direct option. I had a super great time with them! I’m 100% sure that from BOM it’s beef free, as it’s catered in India. Yes, a big shortfall but I trust that if they were aware, or had thought about it, they would change it. But yes, SQ, TG, CX and MH are much better options, in my opinion 😉
@SFAvgeek24 күн бұрын
The sign was not targeted because so,e Indians need time to Kearny English, and are more comfortable with local languages. Beef is understandable, but a veg option would make it fine.
