I'm going to be 'that guy for a moment' Yes, Grim's robot mode was in the movie. When Prime game the Dinos the order to 'Destroy Devastator' he was in robot mode in the shuttle. Then flew down (glided?) in bot mode and transformed. That was the only time he was in bot mode the whole movie.

Then there's the time when the Dinobots were flying around Unicron to kick his butt in robot mode. They transform back to dino mode once they got there.

You know it's funny, i actually watched the movie about 2 months ago to refresh my memory, but even then any memory of dino robot modes is completely blank save for one time i distinctly remember swoops robot while meeting wheelie

BTW if the forearm gaps bothers anyone Just take a lego 2x2 brick put a 2x2 plate on the bottom then put a gray 2x2 tile on the top. Slide it into his forearm then unclick his wrist to keep it from falling out. Of course you have to remove the lego for transformation so if parts-forming bothers you that much you can get an upgrade kit Your Welcome,

I don't know if you're interested in a sword for him (and you'll probably just 3D print your own) but Shockwave's Lab SL-101 is a great sword (and semi-transparent!), alternatively DNA Designs has their own Upgrade Kit for SS86 Grimlock that includes a sword and basically a whole new, better, articulated, transformable Wheelie

It’s kind of a janky connection but I like to display Grimlock with Nemesis Prime’s dark Star Saber. It has the right size and color but he has to hold it at the very end of the handle because it interferes with his dino toes. Credit to PrimevsPrime for this idea.

I’m fine with the wheelie because he isn’t meant to be a transformer, he’s an accessory for Dino mode and I’m ok with that. He doesn’t upset me. Also wheelie has 3mm ports in his feet which are what are supposed to be used to plug him in grimlocks Dino mode. That way both legs end up on each side of the neck.
