The swinging is terrible in amazing spider-man 2. They don't stick to buildings. Doesn't matter how off the camera is you'll know they don't stick and it's the same web swing animation over and over again. The combat is where it comes close. ASM2 had a slower paced combat. Each hit or kick is almost a 2 second window for another hit to follow up then you have to keep doing it til he's dizzy then web him down. What I DID like about ASM2 are the stealth encounters. You can take a thug down silently anywhere you're positioned. web rush is pretty cool but seems a bit exaggerated. Insomniacs spider-man fixes everything wrong about TASM games. They should take a bow for their love and hard work on spider-man

I was hoping I'd see this comment.. I was amazed when I saw that long street next to the Sanctum from Infinity War.. What I also noticed is that Washington Square Park is nearby too. This is accurate as its the same park where Tony gets thrown into and where Spiderman arrives in the film.. Those little details just shows how much care was put into this game. Amazing

As a born and raised New Yorker I was really impressed with how accurate the map is. While there are changes, it still feels very much like the city. I found myself not using the map often bc I could make my way around and know where I was off landmarks alone. My parents moved to Florida a few years ago and I actually recommended my mom play it on my sister's PS4 whenever she misses home bc it genuinely feels like Manhattan.

Yup, it definitely is. Though the other games won't be made by Insomniac but other companies. There is an Avengers project in the works over at Square Enix / Eidos and more are coming our way. That's probably (partly) why no other Marvel hero has made it into the game.

@Bobby Papoutsis Well, according to some article I read, it is. Marvel has gone on record to say that Spider-Man is the gaming universe's Iron Man, as he kicks off a bigger franchise. In fact, Insomniac games got to pick the Marvel property they wanted to make a game about and they chose Spider-Man. The rights to other franchises are going to other companies and yes, it's all connected. If it wasn't, we'd probably have seen some other characters in Spider-Man.

Peter has a note from "R.R." about a ballistic suit in his apartment at the beginning (likely referring to Reed Richards and his unstable molecules suits) and there's another note about coming up with a new catchphrase, which I think was something along the lines of, "It's webbin' time," referencing the Thing's, "It's clobberin' time." It's too bad the Baxter Building couldn't be in it, though. My biggest hope for the next game is to be able to explore at least one other borough of New York beyond Manhattan. I understand that most games put Spidey exclusively on Manhattan as it has the tallest and largest amount of buildings to swing from, but it would be interesting to roam around more of the city than just the jungle of skyscrapers that is Manhattan.

I live in Brooklyn btw, so I know how nyc looks like. Unfortunately, New York City is just popular for Manhattan only. Tourists only think of Manhattan when they come to our city.Other boroughs like brooklyn, queens, Bronx, and Staten Island are pretty much ignored by the tourists. None of the boroughs have any tall buildings, skyscrapers or remarkable attractions compared to Manhattan. Without tall buildings, web slinging is impossible for Spider-Man. So an extension to Manhattan with another borough is unlikely.

What would have made it better is the inclusion of street ally cats, washing lines with clothes on them, rubbish and newspapers flying about, dynamic day/night weather system, helicopters that can be be interacted with, access to Statue of Liberty. I just went to NYC for vacation after playing Spiderman and I got to see all the little landmarks that they included in the game like Bethesda Fountain, the castle in Central Park, etc. Insomniac did a good job. I also got so excited when I saw water towers ontop of roofs bc I never see that in Cali and they’re just like they are in the game

For a game map that you can traverse relatively fast by webswing, it puzzles me that they shrunk the island. It most definately wasn't done to make the player get faster from a to b.

There were some missing streets and avenue There was one where its 35 st going to 36 st but it jumps to 42 st

Great video. I love that they did such a great job on the landmarks. Did they miss the sculpture on grand central. The creative liberties they took seemed to be done very tastefully. Now the bar has been raised and wonder how long until we see a full 1:1 manhattan reproduction with every street and avenue.

Nope, they can still add it in video games. That deal only extends to the movies. They just didn't include it because they were going more for an MCU "feel", even if it's not bound to the same things it's bound to.

Marvel has almost completely erased the FF from active status in comics and the movie rights are still questionable so even if they wanted to add them the people in charge would veto it, so its sad but makes sense that there is to any reference to their building.

This is an awesome thing that they did include that you left out of your video. If you stand near the train you'll hear the pre-recorded voice say "stand clear of the closing doors please" in that out of place southern accent. That's some really good attention to detail.

Mathedis Atcha basically what I said. He tries to be Spider-man when we all know that Spider-Man is Peter. It's better when he goes by kid arachnid. It's like if Robin started calling himself batman. I try to avoid everything Miles is in but I knew this game would be good so I just powered through. He's the reason I will never watch Spider-Verse

It's not all accurate. I'm playing for the first time and I'm like 58% and I have not seen the Baxter Building nor the Xavier Institute for Gifted Youngsters. I have taken pictures of every building and they're not there.

My biggest beef is no actual subway system, no liberty island, 911 area completely removed, no other boroughs, not enough noise it's too quiet not enough sirens or car horns its nyc not your local small city, I dont like what they did to the freedom tower either and central park is still too small not to mention that strawberry fields is not there

Motor78 a lot of theae places are privately owned and their iconic structures sometimes require licensing. It's like trying to get car companies to let you use their cars. Sometimes the ask for too much money and sometimes they object to the context of their use.

Insomniac needs permission to use buildings in their game. If they don’t have the rights, they can’t put it in. I remember seeing something that they couldn’t use the freedom towers design, so they used an early concept design.

Yeah I saw, they originally did the actual design in the trailers and you're absolutely right, I recall seeing that a long time ago in a picture somewhere in the city where they showed what it was going to originally look like in real life, that was the actual design, at first I didn't like it in the game but it definitely has grown on me specially with the neon colors at night and it adds a unique flavor to the game as its also the first version of NYC where the freedom tower is ever featured in a game as the building is merely a few years old, shoot I still remember when it was being built saw it go up almost every day going to school.

They always leave out the Hood. There is nothing of the Baruch house's on the Lower East side, which are like an entire village unto itself. they also left some of the tallest buildings north of 70th street, Taino Towers.
