As a European I always get amazed watching US grocery shopping. We have (usually) the same store layout however there are so many differences in packaging, product sizes and other details. Liquid white eggs on a supermarket shelf, whaaat? Also, every product fits its place like a puzzle piece, an aesthetic marvel. In Europe it's more pragmatic: put on the shelves as many products as the cabinet fits even if it looks like dogwater.
@jzmina7 ай бұрын
I work in the food and beverage industry. The shelves are customizable so they can move the positions to better fit the products. Also major wholesalers have a rep for each major store in their area that regularly come in at weird hours and rearrange/organize the shelves when they restock (in addition to the store workers). The company I work for has an entire department that designs shelf space and creates models to optimize sales. It’s industry standard.

I have a weird thing with food and it makes eating really hard. I was always told I was just a picky eater growing up but as I age I understand better it’s more a mental block for textures and tastes rather than just a kid not wanting to eat their veggies. I have found it really beneficial to look at food as fuel rather than yummy fun time. I’ve been hard locked on throwing rice in a rice cooker. Ground beef and turkey in an air fryer then adding frozen mix of corn, green beans, carrots, peas, and bell pep when the meat is almost done. After everything is cooked I just mix it in a bucket and portion it into meal prep containers. Add some cheese and ketchup before I eat and it being a homogenous mix makes it more consistent for my brain and easy for me to get everything I need for fuel at once.
@Pyrrhonian7 ай бұрын
I'm the opposite and always ate everything but I still ended up at the same conclusion. Food is mostly fuel now and I think of macros more than anything. I do add cheese and hot sauce to add flavor but I can eat the same thing everyday for weeks on end.

I just started tracking my macros, myself. As a skinny guy, I'm obviously trying to bulk. When I'm paying attention, getting in enough protein is no problem (I love meat), but getting in enough carbs is horrid. I am literally constantly full all day, every day, and I'm still not seeing my weight go up. Hasn't been that long yet, my body will adapt and stuff, but it sure ain't easy to eat so many carbs. I like rice, but there's only so much I can eat. Potatoes and bread are decent alternatives. Vegetables are honestly hard to get down simply because they're not carb-dense. They take up volume in my tummy and have barely any carbs. Fruit is easy because they're basically nature's candy, but veggies have also been hard. Cooking can be hard some days. Been thinking of having a meal prep day where I cook a bunch and just put it into containers in the fridge. It seems like a lot of work all at once, but it might be the best way to keep me consistent. Anyway, love the content Patty! Wish you nothing, but the best!

I think if you’re not used to eating a lot, it will definitely be hard up until you adjust… that’s cool you have no problem with protein! I feel like we have the opposite problem (I love snacks and carb foods but won’t get in protein unless I track)

Great video! For my protein intake I rely a lot upon burger patties (no buns) and chicken quesadillas. As a woman I’m too nervous to put myself in that starvation mode bc I think it would mess with my hormones, so I’m perpetually in bulking season. I do also prioritize raw veggies and fruits for vitamin intake purposes. I would love to see how you incorporate cardio into your routine! I absolutely hate treadmills so sometimes it’s a little difficult to meet my cardio goals when running outside isn’t an option. Keep up the great work, you’re an inspiration! :)

Decent Haul but your grab order is kinda out of whack. You can get packaged things like Carbs, sweet treats first, things that don't spoil at room temperature. Grabbing your Proteins first then walking around the store with them in your cart at 70F for 30min to an hour is not good, same for the yogurt. Folks, Grab your meats, cheeses, frozen things last, So there is less time at or above room temperature spoiling/thawing them.

you could replace bread/rice/potatoes with black beans/carrots - beans (canned beans also OK and easier to cook) are much higher in protein, carrots also have more nutrients and fiber than potatoes. Also, you could add onion and green bell peppers to your vegies list for increased flavor - easy to cook: you just need to chop and mix them with the meat and the carrots (or potatoes) and slow cook on a lidded pot (no oil needed). At the end add the canned beans and some tomato sauce (e.g. Bolognese) and boil a few more minutes.

My approach to grocery shopping is exactly the same. I plan ahead, I sometimes even make the list of what I'll buy on the grocery store's app (and I have an estimate to what I'll spend). I look at what's on sale for that week. I start with protein for the week as a base, and then plan out the rest of the ingredients based around a few different meals (including the ingredients I do already have on my shelf or in the freezer). I also like to take advantage of freezable food when it's on sale and store it in the freezer for the next week/s.

I spend $150 on groceries per month. My French door fridge is always full. I buy bulk vegetables that are so much cheaper than buying individual. They don't go bad because soups are a thing. I buy $1.99 lbs whole chickens that I cut up and cook. I buy a giant bag of shanghai bok chow for a dollar. Same price for pork chops. Oranges/apples $1.49 to $1.99 lbs. I get texas toast for $2.74 (it used to be $2.50). I just bought a pack of 40 beef patties today for $33.99. That's $0.85 per patty. I buy giant 18.1 Kg bags of rice that lasts me half a year for $25 to $30. Dairy, I'm doing cheese ad 2% milk. I go grocery shopping maybe 2 times a week. If I ever want to eat out I go to Costco. It's the cheapest and biggest bang for the buck food in my city. I miss the fast food dollar menus lol. I also splurge of eggs, a deathly $19 for 60 eggs. I never got the egg whites in a carton. Seems gross and expensive for only getting half the product. Big scam. My next step is to buy a kitchen aide so I can make my own noodles for soup. Right now I buy a pack 6 of rice noodles for $1.25. Good luck on your groceries all

This is pretty much my cart. Except I’ve started this cancerous delicious treat addiction with apple slices and sugar free chocolate jello pudding. If you make it with skim milk and add in some protein powder it’s amazing but also fake sugar is killing me brah. Thanks for taking us shopping. Meal prep starts there, and if people don’t enjoy grocery shopping they haven’t figured out the secret. You have to enjoy all of this tomfoolery or it won’t be a life style change. Thanks Patty!!

Been focusing on tracking my macros properly for the first time. I've learned a lot about my eating habits and my personal nutrition already in just a few weeks. Would love to see what your meals for this grocery week look like :)

After dealing with orthorexia, anorexia and other ed problems now in a healing phase I have to deal with digestion issues and those are no fun! "Gut health is butt wealth" is the realest quote. Your tummy needs to be okay first so you can digest all those needed macros.

I freeze egg whites in ice trays and add them to the egg white cube bag… when I need egg whites they thaw fast if needed but may drop them into a hot pan and let them melt in the pan.

Causal follower here of your videos. I do find them useful, real, and entertaining. I turn 40 this year (yikes - that snuck up!!) so made a shift in my eating habits. Note, I say eating habits vs diet bc its an everyday lifestyle compared to a fad fast diet. The last six months I aim to eat between 100-120 grams of protein. Some of my go to foods in no order (I like high protein low fat items): Trade Joe's protein bars (20 grams of protein), Frozen shrimps (7 shrimps is 19 grams of protein), Flavacity protein powder (25 grams of protein... I added greek yogurt for more protein), Aldi Beef Jerky (32g protein). For fun tasty treats, I make two ingredient bagels (self rising flour and Greek yogurt) and Reese's cup (protein comes from protein powder, greek yogurt, and peanut butter powder -- I roughly get 12-13grams of protein in each Reese's cup that I make).

8:10 Patty, If you make your own Kombucha it is extremely cheap. I think it costs like $10 for a starter kit on amazon and after than it's like $1/gallon or something stupidly cheap. I love it because it fixes my appetite issues when I drink it.

Love how she comes out of random places in the beginning of the video that fail to hide her and yet it somehow works? I think its funny and cute!

Great stuff as always.... Try bison meat, tastes as good or better than beef but with less fat.... It's a staple in my fridge.... I make an awesome meatloaf with it using oatmeal instead of bread crumbs, 2 red peppers and garlic ground in a food processor, and secret ingredient, good seasons Italian dressing mix in the little packet.... I'm telling you it's the best meatloaf ever.... Need to grind up the peppers because you need the moisture, bison can be dry. Have a great week
