14:53 I'm Japanese. Thank you for reviewing a Japanese snack again! And thank you for the generous rating! “一本満足バー シリアル”="Ippon Manzoku Bar Cereal" is health bar, it's a product for dieters. The same series “一本満足バー ギガプロテイン”="Ippon Manzoku Bar Giga Protein" contains 27g of protein ….and over 300 kcal. Giga Protein is a late-comer product, and it's not very popular, so there are very few stores that sell it.

I had a friend who was a Japanese pro figure skater. She hated the protein powder in the states, and would always bring back a Japanese banana-flavored powder. She also introduced me to the chocolate Calorie Mate, which tastes like a regular chocolate cookie, but without as strong of a flavor. They cross-promoted with the TV show 24, featuring print ads with Kiefer Sutherland eating them.

yeah, it is a cereal "healthy" bar. They package it to look like a protein bar just for marketing - I got fooled by it once but I realized it is too sweet for a protein bar. Many consumers do not pay attention to details.

Never seen that particular product, but Japanese labels do usually have fat listed (脂肪). The name of the one with only 1 gram of protein basically translates to "satisfied with just one bar." It's supposed to be a satisfying snack that keeps you between meals I think. The クリーム玄米ブラン cookie type ones are supposed to be an easy, healthy breakfast, essentially like a substitute for a bowl of cereal.

As someone living in Japan I really enjoyed this video. Just a couple things 1. If I'm going to eat a protein bar I usually go for the chocolate version of the caramel protein bar she tried at 3:41. It has the most protein of all the bars you can get in Japan. 2. I have tried a cheese flavored protein bar in Japan from the company Asahi. I wouldn't recommend it though, it tasted like stale cheese. Might be why I haven't seen it in a while 3. What she called a cheese sandwich at 19:19 I also eat quite a bit. Not a ton of protein I just really like the taste, especially the maple flavor.

Omg the review I've been waiting for!!! I will say, as time wore on the crispy bars really grew on me, my favourite is the black chocolate protein bar because the macros are 187kcal and 20g of protein. It is the Sahara desert texture wise but it makes it super filling lol. The jelly ones are kind of a ride or die for me, fun fact people use them when they're sick to get nutrients in on a delicate stomach because they're super easy to digest. I also HATE the inprotein bars, they taste awful! The good thing is that you can get all of these products in pretty much any convenience store so you can always get your protein in a pinch! The pink one is actually not a protein bar, it's advertised as like a vitamin bar basically, it's meant to be a health bar or sorts

I’m currently living in Okinawa, Japan and I’ve tried most of the ones you’re reviewing, I’m not impressed with any of them. It’s like no matter where you go in the world, you are guaranteed to find some ass flavored protein bars. They either compromise in flavor or in texture. If you’re looking for a high protein shake with good flavor and easily dissolvable, try a brand called Zavas 10/10

Strawberry yogurt bar is like a bar made up of multiple grains, including cereals, so it's more of a snack that's an easy way to get vitamins and fibre than protein. People who train (including myself) in Japan would rather eat steam chicken breast from conbini store than a protein bar:) It's simply high in protein, low in fat and tastes better than a protein bar in Japan

Happy Sunday Patty ❤️👍 Awesome you can tell which supplements are legit and which have fillers. That’s next level. I did the flatulence test myself. If I’m not breaking wind 💨 then it’s just a glorified expensive candy bar. Japanese versions probably contain more fillers and sugar maybe because the fitness market is not as big there and so the product can sell.

Choclate Calorie Mate is really good. I picked some up the last two times I was in Japan. I didn't get them for the protein but I can "forget to eat" and nose dive my energy to the point of nearly passing out. When I would do the "I'm sitting and I can't get up" a bar of Calorie Mate sorted me out. It was great of maintaining weight too during times of illness. It's a very bland chocolate but it's sort of comforting in a white bread sort of way.

日本からこんにちは。外からの視点で日本のプロテイン製品のレビューをしていただける動画は貴重なのでとても嬉しいです。 日本はソイプロテインが安いのでメーカー品には多用され、どうしても独特の匂いや食感がありますね。 The fitness situation and protein products in Japan still have room for growth and development. In particular, I feel that protein products are more oriented toward runners and other aerobic exercise enthusiasts and diet-conscious people. And snacks at convenience stores are often bought by women as a substitute for lunch to lose weight. In Japan, many people still go to the gym for the purpose of losing weight rather than working out. Local gyms also have more treadmills than all machines,More and more gyms do not. People like me, who prefer squats to running, buy protein snacks online. Delicious protein chips are also available. Expensive, though.(^ω^)
