Thank you so much for these videos!! Math is not my strong suit and was the section I was most worried about! I watched all of the videos for the GK math exam and loved the tips and tricks for the "low hanging fruit." I passed my GK on the first attempt!! Well worth the time spent watching these videos!! Thank you

I humbly recommend that we use 'Context' rather than 'Destination' in the problem solving formula. 'Destination' gives the notion that it's the final place to which we need to reach, that is the 'answer/solution' to the problem. Thanks for your consideration.

Just looked at Mrs. Taylor's Math Class videos where she does the FTCE practice questions off the website. Not once, when she is solving algebraic equations, does she combine numbers. She is cancelling them out each and every time. Why did you combine and add 3T and T? How is it not subtracted?
@TheLearningLiaisons2 жыл бұрын
Greetings, Love and Rage, thank you for watching. Most equations have multiple ways to get to the solution, it comes down to preference and what works best for you. This process works best for Andersen and the students he instructs.
@loveandrage39082 жыл бұрын
@@TheLearningLiaisons "Multiple ways" doesn't do anything for me if there's no explanation for why "the way" occurred. So why combine 3T with T instead of subtract? My instinct, from what I've been taught about algebra, is to cancel these things out, but this doesn't do that. Why am I wrong? I'm not paying any extra fees to private tutors for a scam math test. I've already spent close to $300 on the GK Math. I'm sorry, but when a little private tutoring industry pops up around a test, that's a red flag. This test isn't about teacher qualifications, it's about profit. There are articles about this. This was on FL news years ago, too. Pearson is raking in tons of money and helping destroy public education in the process. So why can't you just help us out and throw just one free bone?
@loveandrage39082 жыл бұрын
@@TheLearningLiaisons It's also extremely hard to find free Competency 3 examples, so when you give them, flesh it out. It's the hardest of the four and probably the one we experience least in our daily lives. So why not help us out?

Still lost here. How does 3T equal 4T and not 2T? You combine 3T and T, my instinct is to cancel T out which would lead to subtracting T from both sides. How do you know when to do one or the other? This little aspect is crucial. I should be passing these tests and yet I am completely bombing Competency 3 each time. My last Competency 3 score was like 33 percent. I've never had higher than 50 percent. The average for all test-takers is usually around 60-65 and is the lowest average for all four competencies.

Why isn't the answer 84? We have what was sold this week. So, wouldn't 84 be for last week?
@hannahrossin83403 жыл бұрын
84 is the sales for last week but the question asked how many MORE were sold last week than this week, not how many were sold last week.

Yikes, this is too confusing. On example 2, which is Competency 3, which I have been bombing since 2016 (I score well above average on Competencies 2 and 4, a little under average on competency 3, and never more than 50 percent on Competency 4) there's no clarification on how you go from 3T+6+T=110 to 4T+6=110. I would cancel T out and subtract T from 3T for 2T. Just like how you later get rid of 6 through subtraction. Why with 6 and not with 3T? This is my algebra kryptonite. How do you know when to subtract and when not to? This threw me for such a loop, I've literally had the video paused for a half hour stressing over this tiny thing because at this point, failing these tests is probably causing some sort of trauma. Every time I try to re-learn algebra, doe not matter the source, I feel like I am learning it differently each time. I have put hundreds of dollars into the GK Math test over the past six years. This is the last year I can commit to this test and retain my job.
