Nah, it's called "scapegoating" - not taking responsibility for one's own actions. Yes, Adam, Eve gave you the fruit, but she didn't make you bite. Yes, Eve, the serpent "tricked" you, but you're still responsible. And yet, the temptation remains - man's greatest temptation is to be like God. It continues today. And yet, it is made perfectly clear in the story of the fall that any attempt to fully be like God will ultimately fail. Obviously, part of the story is to teach about where death, labor pains, and farming came from, and why snakes have no legs. But it also is important to note that the main point of the story is to explain why evil exists in the world, especially when it comes to evil committed by men. We humans are capable of the most horrible atrocities against each other. Yet, honestly, God knew that Adam and Eve would fall. Pretty much was inevitable, honestly. But God had already planned on it in His redemption plan. The fall of Adam is spoken of in the Exultet hymn (chanted in the Catholic Church during the Easter Vigil) as "O happy fault, O necessary fall of Adam, which gained for us so wonderful a redeemer". In other words, it was Adam's fall from grace that allowed the Father to send His Son to not only bring us back into grace, but to allow us to enter Heaven.

Total self-contradiction from the narrator, stating that Adam and Eve probably didn't see anything wrong with disobeying God and risking DEATH. Did he not understand the part where Eve, at first exposure lets lucifer, the serpent, know that eating from the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil was PROHIBITED! - An act punishable by DEATH! But, only after lucifer kept pushing, selling Eve on the temptation of greed and self-exaltation - "you will be like gods" - she couldn't RESIST! The LOVE for SELF won her over the LOVE and respect for GOD. The narrator, like the serpent, is making the act of disobedience against God, God's fault. We all know whose side the narrator is really on!

10:40. God did not lie to them when he said they would surely die...they did surely die just not immediately. When he created them...he created them with Eternal Life. But when they are of the tree of knowledge they hindered their own bodies. They deliberately disobeyed God, when they ate of that tree ensuring that eventually their bodies would perish. Also killing their relationship with God, the way he intended for it to be. That is why all of us Humans will eventually die from this Earth. But God is So good to us that he sent us a savior. HIS OWN BEGOTTEN SON. Showing us if we turn to him...we can eventually gain eternal life again.

The reason Adam was not allowed to eat from the Tree of Life (Eternal) in that account is because God did not want Adam to have eternal life in his fallen/flawed state after having sinned. It was not until Adam was redeemed by Jesus and his Resurrection (as a first fruits offering) that he was allowed back into Paradise to eventually eat from the tree of life.

Exactly. Someone even made the claim that God created time when he wanted to create humans so that he could redeem humans. Had he created humans in eternity like angels were created, once he had sinned, Adam would have remained eternally a sinner like satan. God who already knew everything made humans live outside of eternity so that their sinful nature and state could be temporary and not eternal. I kind of believe that claim which also would explain why we can't choose hell/heaven after death but only on earth. I used to think that it was because of God's justice. In the sense that it is unfair to have lived a wicked life and then getting the chance to enjoy heaven. But I now think that a person goes to hell because the person entered eternity with their sinner state and it can't be changed anymore.

We cause our own downfall, yet easily turn to curse God. Did God force Eve to eat the fruit? No. Did God force Adam to have Eve, No. If Adam was happy without Eve, Eve would never exist. He wasn't, therefore God does what makes the human happiest. You curse God, you only end up cursing yourself. God can and will let humans leave and do whatever they want until they see they messed up. But when we turn back to God he will not forsake you, for his mercy is greatest

Eve doesn’t seem to be surprised or frightened when the serpent speaks to her, which to me is a big indicator that all animals were able to communicate with us in the Garden. If the Eden Serpent has legs, arms, stood like humanity so the Serpent must've looked similar to the depictions of Reptilian people from ancient legends or if not sort of humanoid. I think he is adding his own bias to the story claiming that the bible was written in a time in which women were servants through his tone he implies the sub-text of that women serving men is a bad thing as if it's some kind of punishment and not order and balance, just like it's order and balance for men to protect their wives from danger. also if you were to believe the bible to be the 100% truth you would also have to believe the earth is flat with a firmament dome, so women serving men/being assistance to men is by design as the creators plan of order and balance, not out of some kind of spite men made up the story of the bible to oppress women like he is trying to imply.

If the serpent was cursed to crawl on its belly for tempting Adam and Eve, then it must have not crawled on its belly prior to that, so it couldn't have been a snake that tempted them. Sorry to disagree. Firstly the tree is originally known as the tree of knowledge of good and bad, and if Adam and Eve didn’t eat (so to speak) of the fruits, non of us would be here today. I believe they were ment to partake so creation would go forth, life would be boring without temptation.

In a vision to the apostle Peter, Jesus declared all foods to be clean, including animals (Acts 10:10-15). After the flood in Noah’s time, God gave humanity permission to eat meat (Genesis 9:2-3). God has never rescinded this permission. With that said, there is nothing wrong with a Christian being a vegetarian. The Bible does not command us to eat meat. There is nothing wrong with abstaining from eating meat. What the Bible does say is that we should not force our convictions about this issue on other people or judge them by what they eat or do not eat. Jesus declared all foods, including all kinds of meat, to be clean (Mark 7:19). As with anything, each Christian should pray for guidance as to what God would have him/her eat. Whatever we decide to eat is acceptable to God as long as we thank Him for providing it (1 Thessalonians 5:18). “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God” (1 Corinthians 10:31)

Satan lied to them when he told Eve they wouldn't die. In the First and Second Books of Adam and Eve, it's explained that they were immortal until they ate the fruit from the tree of good and evil. Satan made Eve think that God meant she was gonna drop dead at that very moment, when what God really meant was they would lose their immortality and die eventually when they weren't supposed to die at all.

The punishment of the serpent is the first prophecy that appears in the Bible. As some astute readers have noticed, women don't have seed, men do. The enmity between "her seed" and the serpent refers to the enmity between Lucifer and Jesus. Lucifer struck his heel when Judas Iscariot betrayed him and Caiaphus convicted him of blasphemy and heresy. He was subsequently turned over to the Romans and crucified. Jesus crushed the head of the serpent three days later when he rose from the dead and ascended into heaven, leaving behind a devout group of disciples to deliver the gospel to every nation. Or not. It depends on who you ask. Eve wasn't meant to be subservient as a punishment. Her desire was for her husband, but to rule over him. Being smaller and weaker than Adam, her effort would be futile. This is how that bit of the story was explained to me by a well respected Rabbi. Orthodox practicing Jews often equate Genesis with poetry. Alluding to the idea that it is symbolic. I prefer to enjoy it without a lot of analysis. The Fall is one of the top 5 most beautiful stories in the Bible for me, and also one of the most mysterious.

That seems like a strange leap to say all the animals had human traits. it clearly states the form you recognize as a snake is not what this being appeared as, but what it was reduced to. So a more logical conclusion would be that the being appeared as something akin to god. which is why it's thought to be an angel, another divine being like god was. adam and eve were created in god's image (upright), so this being had to have the same appearance (upright, speaking).

I've always kind of liked that Eve is the one who eats of the fruit. I think women have a deep natural curiosity and inclination to knowledge. They're not as naturally complacent as men are. If a man has his belly full and his woman by his side, he tends not to look for much more. She is the grist in his mill. I have never been able to read the Fall as anything other than inevitable. In order to understand our world, to gain knowledge, we must lose some of our innocence. A life in the garden would be heavenly, but it would also be stymied and unchanging. We would never grow, never learn, never utilize all of those capacities that God gave us. That it was a woman who chose to "cut the cord" seems quite appropriate to me. Her intentions were bold, not evil. And at the end, hopefully Paradise will be regained for us all.

Actually, Adam kinda neglected his authority over Eve, he was right beside her when she ate the fruit and he said NOTHING when she gave it to him to eat, he should've put his foot down and told her to leave it alone but without question, she gave it to him and he ate it. He was given dominion iver EVERY CREATURE in the garden, I'll assume that meant Eve as well.

Nice work, however, you got few mistakes there. Adam and Eve did died after eating the fruit from tree of knowledge. But it wasn't sudden death. Their original purpose was to live eternal life, but after they have sinned, corruption process has began. Now together with sin, the sickness, pain and death was introduced to human life, and we are desperately in need for Saviour, whom we have in Jesus Christ.

Also about not equal punishment for Adam and Eve. Eve is giving birth in great pain but Adam is the one who spends his life working hard all day to provide for his family. This is more like a different responsibility for each sex. Adam is man, so he needs to make sure his family has good condition for living, safety and enough food. Eve is the one who is more responsobile for raising the kids and keeping the household. Yet they both need to work together and support each other. But the "biggest" punishemnt is basically a death. In other words, seperation from God. They both are having this punishment. And it's a price that all humanity is paying to this day, unless you are saved by accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Messiah.

Adam and Eve had no problem talking to God either and seeing the Cherubim with flaming swords. Research shows that the serpent or snake means Seraphim in Hebrew. Seraphim are powerful angels that surround God's throne. Eve was talking to a rebel Seraph, which is also a Cherub. Revelation 20:2 and Isaiah 6:2, 6.

Questions: what if when eve handed Adam the forbidden fruit, she did not tell him where it came from. Thus Adam ate cuz he trusted his wife...I couldn't find a passage that clearly says Adam knew where the fruit came from. If thats the case, then that explains why Adam called out eve. Also the serpent didn't pick Adam to tempt, it pick eve, why? Could it be the serpent knew eve was the most tempted? Wasn't there a passage that implies when God was talking to Adam about what they had done, eve scoffed at God so God gave her a harsh punishment as well. I could be wrong about that, if so correct me. I also want to add, im a grandson of a farmer, I know the difference between farming and gardening. Tilling the land is much harder than gardening...so Adam punishment was pretty harsh. Great video btw...👍👍👍

1) No, he was not told where it came from (checked two versions). She handed it to him and he trusted her so he ate it. Adam struck me as the honest idiot so he simply told God the truth. He never "ratted out Eve", he told God where he got the fruit from. 2) On the question of Eve being selected over Adam. Given the fact that Adam's Job was to catalog the animals, it would make sense to avoid him. He would also be the one most able to discern if a serpent was supposed to be able to talk or not (remember, God introduced him to all manner of animals to search for his companion THEN he created Eve after that failed. Adam would be well aware of what should and shouldn't be able to speak. Also, if Adam was ever unsure, he would then do the one thing the serpent REALLY would not like: call God) 3) No such passage about her scoffing, she just said the serpent tricked her 4) Yeah, the punishment was pretty harsh, but understandable. Also, God never casted them out naked, he clothed them better first...then sent them out

For now speculation seems arbitrary. God is just and that being said he is complete in his instruction and punishment. Nevermind the blame. The command was not to eat of it. The command was broken at the end of the day.

Talking directly with God is not easy. It’s a learned process. It honestly is easier to have a direct conversation with Satan because you can say anything. But I warn you that you do not bring up Adam and Eve and other misfortunes when speaking directly with him. Only he can bring it up. He will cut you off or make you feel some type of way in my experience. Plus you need to get your facts right since he expects that you read your Bible and not just hear the stories. The only ones who can say anything is Satan and the others because they still obey his commands. But on the bright side that is the beauty of Jesus Christ. If we didn’t have him then we would be more terrified of him then love him like the Israelites were.

In this world we live in, where there is an increasing desire for knowledge and understanding about the things of God and all the other elements that surround God, it's good to see this kind of knowledge shared. I am NOT a pastor nor a priest or anything ordained. But just an ordinary person trying to understand God and His ways at an ordinary level. I recently chose to take up the part of narrating the bible with video imagery starting from the book Genesis so that it could reach those who, like me, would like to know God's ways in the simplest of ways. "the punishment is disproportionated"........... ADAM: forced to work for a meal for the rest of his life.....(also, btw, he has to feed Eve and his offspring, so in a way he is subdued also to his family, if he doesn't work, they also will die). EVE: forced to suffer pain once every 9 month, for around 30-40 years.......so, 2-3hs of pain, 40 times, 120hs of pain, 5 days of pain in a lifetime. It does seems a bit disproportioned if you ask me.

In Christianity the Serpent which is also referenced in the Book of Revelation with the Dragon being Satan is the enemy of God and man. The Devil deceived Eve and in turn convinced Adam to eat the fruit but ultimately Adam was responsible for Eve which is why the original sin is called the sin of Adam. The result of the original sin is sin and death not only physical death but spiritual death. The not being permitted to eat the fruit of the Tree of Life which is Christ and the fruit is the gift of Sanctifying Grace which is everlasting life. Also being exiled from the Garden of Eden is being expelled from the Kingdom of Heaven.

One time when I was at a library in Newington CT and I went to the religious book section and I founded this book known as original sin and it talked about how humanity has become victims of original sin and why we human beings make bad moral decisions in our daily life and why we suffer. And I have to say that if it wasn't for Adam and Eve giving into eating the forbidden fruit in the first place, then there would be no messy situations and no human being would give into sin and temptations. But because of what they did, all human beings are now vulnerable to sin in many ways and we human beings suffer. Take me for example, I have to suffer because I have sleep apnea and I have to put up with it for the rest of my life and take my friend Gabriel Carpentieri for example. He has crohn's disease and he has to put up with it as well and take daily medications and it's not easy for him. But he and I are not the only ones who suffer. His mom has cushing's disease and his dad has parkinson's disease. But there's more. My dad has also made some bad moral decisions as well because he violated one of the ten commandments. "Thou shall not commit adultery." And he even took my mom for granted financially and sometimes has blatantly lied several times. But regardless of what happens, God has a plan for us all.

very good video and very informative it was very well made but i think that you forgot another possibility in the punishment of adam and eve. i think that both adam and eve sinned against God not just from eating the fruit but because they now had a concept of right and wrong. adam and eve before eating the fruit had no concept of evil therefore if they had committed any sin against God before, God overlooked them over the fact that they had no concept but after eating from the fruit they gained knowledge of right and wrong therefore they were now subject to punishment as God is, in accordance with biblical script a "Just Judge", with that they were punished in accordance to their wrong doing. that was why they had to be punished. Adam was punished with working for food in the cursed land that was from his feet, in my theory, for he himself decided to go and eat the fruit. while eve on the other hand was punished because she decided to eat the fruit and pass the decision to eat to another therefore the punishment was bigger compared to adam. this is not to say that women caused the fall of humanity or that she was punished because she was a woman but that to say God could have punished them in this order of thought and the humans we are misunderstood the text and thought it was women's fault. i think that God punished eve not because she was less favored but because the weight of the passing of the same decision, that can destroy her life, and leaving that choice to another person as irresponsible added to the same same decision of eating fruit. edit note: love your content and the way that this channel tries to highlight all kinds of possible understanding is really pretty awesome please keep up the good work.

This seems far less a Adam and Eve did anything wrong story and more a the creator makes repeated mistakes in reasoning and tries to push blame onto others story. Lets acknowledge the fact that people are created in God's image (that's an intentional design choice right there), yet they get punished for trying to be like him even though once again, they are made in his image to be like him by design.

For a creature to be like God just means it has true intelligence, that it has an intellect and a will, unlike animals. God made us to communicate his own being through us, not for us to usurp his position, but he is longsuffering and redeemed us through Eve's childbearing as prophesied. Through Mary's childbearing, this is a great demonstration of his love for us sinners. I think you should look up the doctrine called theosis on Wikipedia, it will clarify some things.

According to psychological studies, and I am a college student in psychology by the way (not bragging), there is mental illness associated with so called "spirituality". Specifically New Age, Witchcraft and such, the brain patterns of the people adhering to those groups are similar to the brain patterns spotted in cases of delusion, not delusion in the epistemological sense but delusion in the psychological sense. Whereas people in religions, even those who claim to have mystical experiences and I am among them, do not have these issues in respect to group identification. Basically what I'm saying is that religion is not necessarily a bad thing, that God wants us to be religious, and that "spirituality" unfortunately is often about good feelings and drugs and bizarre infantile behaviors like those in unicult. I am not mocking anyone here, God forbid I have my own issues alright, but I'm trying to help. Personally as a Catholic I think the guy was being a bit edgy, I used the same bad arguments when I was an occultist, if you can explain it to him better then feel free to do so man. God bless.

I think that, in the logic of the narrative, Eve's punishment was bigger because she had commited two sin's. She ate the forbidden fruit and convinced Adam to eat. And Eve already had knowledge of good and evil when she gave the fruit to Adam. Just my guess.

There is no sin in being able to open your eyes and know good from evil. The sin lies with the one trying to prevent you obtaining that ability, since they would be exposed as one of evil. Was the Serpent afraid of Adam & Eve being able to tell good from evil? And who did not want Adam & Eve to gain that ability? The answer to those questions tells you who the one of evil was and is the real one who is committing sin against Adam & Eve. The Serpent gets a bad rap because the proponents of God use propaganda to twist our Fall because of our 'sin' of breaking a command onto the Serpent for enticing Eve to do that. It is neglected to point out that the real sin lies in the one preventing Adam & Eve from knowing good from evil. Nice bit of sleighted propaganda from the guilty party to turn all the fault of the Fall onto the one who was exposing the guilt of the evil one to Adam & Eve.

If I did eat the ice cream and could now tell good from evil, her next move would be to cast me out and call me a sinner so as to again prevent me knowing she is of evil. My belief is that the Satan from Genesis was a dragonlike creature. Probably man sized, and was able to fly. When God punishes the Satan, He decrees that it "crawl on its belly"... Not that bad of a punishment if it had legs. In fact, if you look at current lizards, with legs, most are almost crawling "on their bellies" or close to it. Now imagine it could fly... All of a sudden, that punishment is made MUCH worse....

The one critical physical trait that is described is that Fallen Lucifer often masquerades as an angel of light. Which is deceitful, an aspect of the serpent. That is the point.

Actually, God did not lie, misdirect, or in ANY way be UNTRUTHFUL. Adam and Eve were made to live eternally. By eating the fruit, they were aware of themselves and sin. By introducing sin, they brought with it the physical degradation that sinning causes. Death. So the "wages of sin is death". Our Saviour, Yeshua, paid those wages so we can return to those perfect bodies once we shed these sinful, or earthen bodies JUST BY BELIEVING THAT YESHUA PAID THOSE WAGES FOR US!

This is basically saying "God, I wouldn't have fallen if you didn't create the woman", blaming God at least partly.(which Adam actually did) We should just own our mistakes, repent and move on instead of finding excuses. Adam forgave his wife, he wouldn't have obeyed God's command to have kids if he didn't. God gave them a path to redemption, and gave the prophecy which says that a Woman would crush the Serpent through childbearing.

This story always reminds of why the bible says "for it is better for a man/woman to be single for all of their life"-----Jesus had no spouse💡 the influences of a romantic relationship/marriage are one of the biggest impacts on humans. Eve influence on Adam..he would have never eaten from the tree of life if she were not in the garden AND him desiring to have a companion when God was already his companion. Another thing, still happening today, eve told the truth when God questioned her. Excellent video. The poet John Milton achieved an incredible amount of extrapolation about The Fall in Paradise Lost and Paradise Regained. I wonder what you would think of those volumes known as 'The Forgotten Books of Eden.' And that title specifically because there apparently other pseudopigraphical works that feature the name 'Books of Adam and Eve,' which are not the same thing. I still side with the late Mother Angelica who began the EWTN television network. She simply said that "It wasn't the apple in the tree, it was the pair on the ground.' Notice how I spell pair instead of pear for a very good reason. The serpent in the ancient times of the earliest of Biblical authors was often used as a symbol to warn people from excessive immorality which was apparently more common among the descendants of Cain than of Seth.

Ok Eve recieved the worse of the punishments because she was the first to eat from the fruit. As well, she also pinned the blame onto the serpent instead of asking for forgiveness. Adam's punishment is the fact he must now work the land for all his days and as he is made from dust he will return to dust by dying. Eve may experiance child pains but his body will be ruined by centuries of labor. Eve as Adam's wife will serve under him, but the bible also states that the husbands should treat their wives with care and respect. All in all this review seems very one sided, but has some good information within it as well

Not gonna lie, God seems to not be omniscient and all knowing from that story in the Bible. How could look after them in heaven ? he should already know exactly where they are. Many do not realize that the story of Adam and Eve was the first test of Faith. If they listened to God, they would live. If not, then they would perish, as the angels who betrayed him.

What I got from this, men are fine and dandy with eating the same things over and over because we know what is fulfilling to us right? Every now and then we'll slide on over to another dish on the menu, What do women do when you go to a restaurant? they want you to TRY NEW FOOD WITH THEM. You already knew before you got there you were going to get that double decker bacon heart attack sandwich (and dying would have been worth every bite) and as a man what do we do (Sometimes)? We cave in and try the shit that they are begging us to eat with them (sometimes it be good, other times it's a good thing you stayed on your own plate. We're both to blame .... The reason Eve's punishment was worse is because she deliberately disobeyed The Most High she told the Serpent she wasn't allowed to eat from the tree and she ate it anyway. They both did but the Serpent made an effort to target Eve not Adam because maybe he knew if he did go to Adam first he wouldn't have eaten the fruit.
