So there’s a Kelpie which is Celtic and a malignant character, but then there’s also a Selkie which is another Celtic mythological creature that can shift forms from hymns on land to seal form in water.

Being a Scott and living near the Kelpie metal statues,they were made just from the neck up.This video would explain why.If they had the bottom half of fish and backward feet. Thanks for covering this.
@lauragraves434210 ай бұрын
The backwards feet reminds me of what I've heared said about mimics in general. Sometimes they have at least one feature they can't quite mimic correctly, or even more than one. We have that here in the U.S. with the "Not Deer." Sometimes it has front facing eyes and leg knee joints that bend the wrong way. They're also known to walk on 2 legs at times and hide within groups of actual deer.

Unicorns where not horses to start. Just look at the small details. Cloven hooves, beards.....Not horses. Caprine fit the actual details better then Equus and have horns. Modern depictions are horses not ancient ones. A lot of ancient cultures where very detailed about the hooves, as it determined it's place amongst the beasts.... Also the whole solo horn was described like a goat or Ibex horn. There is a reason the goat is their symbolic counterpart. However that being said I get why they are called horses due to the modern misconception. Much like the Satyr being a goat guy. When they are Equestrian. While the Panes and Fauns where Caprine in nature. I still love this channel and this video but please for the love of History, not call Unicorns Horses.....I also am not referring to Unicorn like creatures as they are not Unicorns but their own creatures, with their own myths and legends. I guess they qualify as Bovidae. Oh and if we go off child logic... Rhinos are male, hippos are their female counterpart; Goats are male and sheep are their female. lol Because when I was a wee lad I actually played with my animal toys as such. lol Oie the logic of a child.

These legends was created on the isle of Lewis and Harris. By kelpers. These people would hunt whale and make soap from kelp and whale. While raising sheep. They was also formidable warriors and all was expected to do there part. An old story from the isle is an oath was made between the people of the isle that was both Norse and Scottish but primary Norse. The oath was to not take rob or harm. The oath was violated during a night time raid 16 Hebridean died. Upon sunrise painted for war a group of Hebridean men slaughtered 80 plus raiders in an encampment. While others was captured and used to train children in the art of war. Those children learned that day how to kill.

I definitely believe that spirits and creatures such as kelpies of Scotland, the vodyanoi of Russia, and the kappa of Japan were in fact just superstitions that sprouted from people's collective fear of drowning. And of course aquatic animals tend to be seen as the most alien out of all other animals, more so than insects. Why it's no wonder Jules Verne and H.P. Lovecraft wrote epic tales surrounding the dangers of deep sea marine life.

It’s nice to meet people who say, “I believe,” rather than “I know”. All we can do is believe, because we cannot determine reality and falsehood. Perhaps we are permanently blinded, never to see these creatures again, perhaps they do not exist. All we can know is that we have no certainty, no indisputable truth in life. Only the murky mire and blinding fog of possibility and potentiality. What may or may not exist.

@whitestar764111 ай бұрын
I believe that we can never know what is or is not real, to believe with certainty that we know something only shows the foolish hubris and stupidity of human kind. Are kelpies real, possibly, are they fake, possibly. We may be blinded, drifting so far from the mystical nature that our ancestors believed so adamantly in, perhaps we are permanently blinded and can no longer see these creatures. We are not able to know truth, we are adrift in a mire of possibility and potentiality for our whole lives. Humans are simply fearful creatures that do not like to admit we live in perpetual uncertainty. Only the truly courageous can stare life in the eyes and tell it, “I don’t actually know you, I don’t know what is real and what isn’t.” Many people would go mad at understanding this, it took me many years to be able to admit that I am but a leaf flitting about in the wind with no true direction or sense of truth. Now I have discerned that and tell existence boldly that I am a creature of uncertainty, of murky existence, of no true ability to determine reality and falsehood. I am something that can never know and never shall, only to believe and ponder upon the fog of life.

Almost treating it as some sort of virtue. To hate anything and everything that doesn't conform the the same believe system! Yes, the comments section is a "free for all". However, you can be damn sure that there will be people like me pushing back on BS comments like these. 🤷🏻♀️ When watching a video on a Kelpie (or anything creature for that matter) My skin just crawles when I scroll down and see these idiotic comments left by Christian zeolites. Cause you know, IF you don't conform, eternal damnation is your forecast. There IS a time AND a place for EVERYTHING! Not everyone believes as you do.
