Okay, having played this game through three times, I'll point out tips. Hope you see this. 1. USE LIGHTS, especially lantern/flares. If you equip a lantern on the quickbar you can use other weapons and it gives you 360 degree light. Flares you can drop on the ground and it acts as an independent light source. ESP. USEFUL WHEN LAMPS GO OUT. 2. BARRICADE DOORS NEXT TO YOU. Traps are unreliable as you've seen. Limit access of enemies to your safe area to just one door. Create a killbox/funnel. You can enhance this with traps, pouring gas (enemy steps on trap, you light gas on fire with matches for example), glass shards, etc. 3: LEAVE ROOM FOR MANUVERING / HAVE PLAN B. When you're in a small boxed in room you'll just get smashed like you often did here. You had zero visibility for oncoming enemies (no time to prepare). Same happens if there's no light (SEE POINT 1). Have enough room to dodge around. You don't have a pistol yet, which would be the default plan B (if things get tough just start blasting). Instead of a gun you can use molotovs. They also create a damage zone which lasts a while. 4: (MISC): USE QUICKBAR EFFECTIVELY; ALWAYS HAVE THINGS THERE YOU NEED INSTEAD OF RUNNING THROUGH INVENTORY IN PANIC. HAVE FULL HEALTH WHEN STARTING NIGHT / ENTERING DANGEROUS AREA. STAMINA PILLS + QUICK ATTACK = LOTS OF SWINGS. 5:(extra/optional): GIVE YOUR 0 VALUE JUNK TO PIOTREK (TIRE, BATTERY, ETC). There's more but maybe that suffices.

the road to the village is an actual path to a (mostly) peaceful level where the chicken lady is that banshee attack on the first night of this episode was so unlucky, it wasn't even you who triggered the banshee but you got punished for it anyways lol, and i don't think putting items in front of doors is doing anything for you oddly, but it did in my playthrough, so double unlucky also tip of the day, remember to use your quick attack, i think it's binded to middle mouse by default, it takes 2 and a half bars of stamina with most weapons

I can’t wait to see the upcoming parts, but don’t burn yourself out on the game, give yourself a break if the Woods are being extra bullying You keep boxing yourself in the smallest rooms despite having more visitors than the Dry Meadow. The Protective Substance is dispersed throughout the whole hideout, just stay within the fencing of your home near a light source, and you can camp in any room or outside, and the sooner you dispose of threats, the less likely they can gang up on you. The bugs that burst through your floor that give Shells are the ones that make that weird squeaky noise; that’s them putting the dark toxic floor stuff on the floor. They made a mess in your generator room And something I learned about the knocking on the door on my recent playthrough; I opened my door to look outside because I heard dogs, left it open as I walked away, heard the knocking and turned around, and there was the item right on the porch where I was standing a moment ago, so it’s not a person giving you stuff…….Just some unseen force

Congrats on surviving your first night! And boy oh boy, do our hearts go out to you on how unlucky that first one was. Ouch! Oh, but you did get a lot done! The camp, the spaceboy's house, and seeing all sorts of sights! I'm sure the others told you, but going into the village is going to be your best bet going forwards. Unless you want to brave the dangers of the pig farm like the wolfman suggested. Giant sow that ate a person, eh? Oh, the silo! That's....just a silo. They can be that big. For tips, I'd suggest sticking to the roads? Well, "roads", the paths on the map. They tend to not pass through deep forest and avoid the worst of the wandering enemies. Speaking of dark forests, use your light sources! If not for your own sake, then for us! We can't see a thing if it's pitch black! Oh, and I gotta remind you to use your abilities again! You can find your place on a map when you're lost, if you're so panicked about time that you feel the need to wait to the last possible moment to switch on your generator, then saving time wandering until you hit a landmark would help, no? And you can heal near electric light sources! Surely that's useful when you're in your hideout with two lamps and injured after a savage got through?

Don't be worried about dying a lot in darkwood. This game is basically top down darksouls so be patient, focus. the village is a safe place where time doesn't pass if I remember correctly also the chicken lady is located there.
@N1ck002 жыл бұрын
quick attack (mmb) would have saved you from a few deaths, gotta take the time to learn combat. You also tend to back yourself into corners. Always have an out. Also PLEASE learn to use light sources. Lantern on the hotbar lights all around you. No fighting in pitch black at night. EDIT: At the end of the video, there is mold on the ground in the generator room that's hurting you. It can grow randomly at night and you didn't see it.
@thenose72542 жыл бұрын
You should burn away that stuff in your generator room, those bugs can sometimes spread deadly worms all over your floors, just like in the silent forest entrance. Also if you ever hear that loud shriek like in the first night of the video, stay away from corners so you can maneuver around or escape.

If you're just straight up asking for combat/survival advice, here. Fair warning-Game gets harder. Top down Dark Souls is a good analogy. Stary Las cię pochłonie. Starting with the most important: 1) DODGE BUTTON (CTRL). Use it. Matador-ing was a good strategy too, so pick one. Either sidestep dodge OR sprint away after baiting an attack, then counter--and like you said, attack early. You got this 2) ABUSE QUICK ATTACK (MMB). You don't use it at all, but it's really helpful. Whether for general combat or for 25:25 3) BARRICADE DOORS. Seriously man. 4) ABILITIES (Q) 5) Traps are only a secondary way of dealing with enemies--With practice, you should be able to kill one enemy in a straight-up fight without much or any damage (only playing one hour a week isn't helping with combat experience, I bet). Try practicing dodging enemies in the forest, esp. those stick savages since they always stick it to you. Learn the attack patterns. Traps are optional 6) Not necessary, but bandage yourself preemptively if you think you're in for a hard fight, even if full HP. They last a long time. Minor stuff: - The only thing you have to worry about swinging at are barricades, large movable furniture (not lamps or chairs), and doors--Destructibles have a white healthbar. Feel free to swing at everything else. - Put lamps wherever you want. You don't have to hole up the lights away from windows in that tiny room. It only matters if enemies can see YOU through the cracks, i.e. don't stand near the cracks. - If it looks organic, try cooking it.

The npcs are really what give this game flavor. They really paint this world as a grim dark fairy tale land. Ps. There is a short horror game called Iron Lung that just got released. You should check it out.

also, how you appeared to die was that the banshee (big screamy thing) entered the room you were hiding at and died due to the abyss thing and spawned the banshee babies which killed you
@Nisteth2 жыл бұрын
A massive, huge tip that will help a lot: The enemies are smarter than you think. They are attracted to barricades. Think, if you were a monster and saw a boarded up house, you'd think someone was in there, right? Or even just as a scavenger, that screams, "loot!" A tactic that took me far was finding the most isolated room, not moving much at all to make as little noise as possible, and just... hoping for daylight to come. Obviously some luck is involved, since you're placing yourself at the mercy of the ethereal spirits at night, and this doesn't mean you can't barricade a door in the interior that windows don't have a good look at - but generally, barricading windows can actually be a bad idea sometimes.

In order to survive the harder nights you have to have one foot over the Ash Threshold. Turn Corner Cowering Simulator into a Home Alone simulator, so to speak. Spill some gas, lure them into traps, retreat, circle around, do what you can. In time you will know your enemy and how to exploit its weaknesses.
@sledgeslamfist17462 жыл бұрын
Hey man, congrats on surviving the night! You were hard on yourself about a lack of progress, but you were doing great. You made mistakes and you learned from them until you finally made it through the night. Each hideout is a little bit different in terms of tactics, but generally you'll always want to barricade every window and place a trap outside the window. Same thing with the doors. Don't worry about the resource costs, if you survive the night you can make back the resources via the reputation you'll make. You'll also want to give yourself room to move around in inside the hideout. Boxing yourself into a small room is what got you killed half of the time, either by getting swarmed with no room to run, not having enough space to charge up an attack, or by a night event forcing you into a corner. And at the pig shed there's an easy to miss but very interesting NPC you can interact with. Also at the village you'll find a guy digging some holes, try jumping into one.

C'mon, just close all doors and windows. Maneuver in the large area inside the house. I've spent dozens of days in that house in hardcore without any issue. Keep a molotov in case of many enemies at once, and adapt to changes - you need space to maneuver. There are TONS of planks and nails all around, like in wood chopping spots on the map, like around you previous base

I don't mean this as an insult, but getting better at combat would help you a lot. Maybe seek out some easy enemies to practice on. I barely relied on traps when playing because I hated wasting resources on them. It forced me to really understand the rhythm/timing of combat and I breezed thru most of it as a result.

25:40 is a good example of why cornering yourself is a bad strategy. It feels like most people play this game by trying to fortify a single room, which doesn't really work when horrors can bypass your doors or spawn on top of you, and you have no real recourse to bashed-down doors. Barricades really only buy you a little time. And to be fair, that does sort of seem like what the game is telling you to do, early on. But the reality is especially as time goes on you're going to want to be able to move around your base, lead and escape threats, and mostly, just kill everything that comes inside. They'll find you one way or another, so treat the hideout as an arena, not a safe space.

Im not sure if you'll get around to seeing this, and I'm not sure if it's your type of game, but there's a game I came across recently called Omori At first glance it looks like your generic 2D JRPG, cute and friendly But it's tagged as a psychological horror game, not that it's necessarily trying to hide it in its advertising, but it might be worth looking into if you haven't already, its incredibly well executed and probably one of the best games I've experienced It's incredibly in depth, I don't want to say anything spoilery if you do end up checking it out, it's got multiple endings, and averages around 20-30 hours of gametime depending on which route you take, and theres a lot in the game that would fall under creepy and comfy I would recommend going in as fresh as possible if you do end up checking it out though
