Short People could probably still be released today. It was an anti-prejudice song that sarcastically mocked short people to point out how ridiculous prejudice is. And before someone answers "but people don't understand sarcasm nowadays", they didn't back then either, there was backlash to that song and Newman received threats, back when it was much more effort to threaten someone than a lazy twitter post from your phone. There were also attempts to get it banned. I'm guessing NL was jokingly pretending to think it's genuine, because some of the lyrics make it clear it isn't.
