Thats just a convection setting though. Most ovens have that, the real point of the air fryer is to not have to deal with preheating since it requires less time to heat up due to the smaller size.

The air fryer is a smaller, more efficient version of the convection setting that your oven already has. NL is correct that it is great if all you need is small batch, quick cooking. However, I'd argue that if you are poor, you are cooking big batches of cheap food and doing meal prep etc. Alternatively, if you have a large family (I came from a family of 14) then an air fryer is not big enough for anything. All that is to say, NL is relatively rich and has a small family. They never need the size the oven has to offer, so I get why he doesn't value it. He also argued for being able to buy 2 eggs at once in tiny cartons. The man simply doesn't cook big batches and that's ok.

Saw a video about some place in North Africa where ovens in your home was not common (due to cost and heat) and people would just bring their dishes to the local baker like in the olden days and he would cook up their dish for them and they picked it up later. So he had this big wood oven he was cooking all kinds of breads in and there were all these dishes made by local moms and stuff lined up for him to throw in there when he had room. They probably paid him or shopped there daily for the bread and the oven was fired up anyways. Seemed like an efficient and community driven process, to be honest.

It must be a cultural thing (I'm from Spain) because the idea of regularly cleaning your floors with a vacuum is ridiculous here. Like that chatter said, its broom + mop. I think one of the reasons may be the fact that you need electricity to use the vacuum and to use it often means raising your bills. I'm not saying we don't use vacuums, but they are to clean something in particular, like the inside of a car or a sofa's insides, besides that, they are cumbersome and if you want a lighter one, those are really expensive.
