We then boosted it and it's currently making 560whp. If we did the same to a J35 gains would have been in the 330whp NA, which is awesome for a 3.5l engine. Hey, I literally use my HFL all the time for phone calls. And I use SiriusXM radio. I just picked a dash out of a car in the junkyard that was flawless for 30$. I also picked apart a car that a local person is parting out and got the factory sub that looks like it was never used, the console side trim pieces in great shape. The carpet piece in the trunk under where the speakers are, oem shift knob, oem all weather mats, oem trunk tray, etc. Going back for the seats as they were in superb shape. I've only had my 3rd Gen TL for a couple months. Before this I had an 03 3.2CL Type-S that i loved but it was an auto and had the trans replaced by acura once, and was showing signs of going out, so I sold it and made money while I could.

I bought a beat up 06 Acura TL base. Ive restored the outside (fenders, shark grill, driver door, and front hood... Cost me 175$ at a junk yard) the entire front suspension system (Detroit axle parts) costs me a little over $200. Now my coilovers were 995$ plus tax. But between my 3.2l engine and 5AT trans the TL will drive all day. The engine and transmission are great. Car has 112k (I think once the owner let the interior go, meaning they took out the extra speakers and batteries) they blew the ignition fuse... Probably would of charged me more if I fixed it on the spot. Some parts arent cheap for the TL (replacement dashboard) but once its pieced together and all one color. Wow

For me I replaced the ball joint, sway bar link, control arm, suspension, brakes, brake hose, a couple fuel system flush to get rid of the check engine light and it is amazing. Power steering pump leaks often Coolant recovery tank plastic cap breaks easy, it’s not a big deal unless the elbow fitting breaks, then it’ll leak. Other than the Bluetooth draining the battery, don’t use the tape deck ever, not even for an auxiliary converter because if it gets stuck, it’ll drain the battery too. Theirs a few places where oil commonly leaks and two of them are expensive as hell to repair.

I didn't read all the comments but seems like you and commenters missed one thing: Common rear wheel arch rusting issue. When inspecting a car make sure to check the rear wheel arches from the INSIDE if nothing is visible on the outside. Could be that it started to rust from the inside and will pop out in a year or so. It is especially important to check if a car spent most of its life in "salt belt" region

I have a 2006, automatic, never had any trouble. I did have the code which indicates a misfire at 140k, but that's a false that is well known. (Just update the ECU at a dealer). A second solution is to change the spark plugs, which i did. And I had to change the battery a month ago (it was the original!). And now there's clinging sound at the back. I from experience that it is the shock upper plate. But again, its the original so... Usually, I agree that you should avoid the first generation of any model, from any manufacturer. But in this case, if you know your stuff, you should know that the first model of the TL has been overengineered to compete with Mercedes/BMW and Audi. So it doesn't apply at all.
@speedyyy5181 Жыл бұрын
looking at buying a 2006 with 95k miles. nervous about all the issues people say they have and what not. how was ur experience.
@saabsly1 Жыл бұрын
@@speedyyy5181 hi, Like I mentionned, i had only ONE minor issue, and it was really easy to fix. There is bug in the computer program which sometimes make the ckech engine light to come on and the code says it is a misfire in cylinder 6. But after digging in a little in different forums, this usually happens when you floor it, same that happened to me. You can eitehr just ignore it (which I don't recommand just in case something worse comes on), you can buy a 20$ code ODB2 code reader and flasj it (so the light shuts off) and its not really a problem and it won't come on either unless you floor it again. Or you can also change the sprakplugs like some forums said. I didn't want to take any chance so I did change the sparkplugs since it is after all not a recent car and it cannot hurt. I did NOT change the coil. Only the sparkplug. And the code never came back on. So o answer your question, this is a VERY great car. I cannot not recommand it to you. Definitly one of the best I had even though I had much more expensive cars (ok and slightly better too). It does everything well, its sporty, confortable, lots of room, VERY reliable (its a honda), looks good (but that's subjective). Its one of the best bang for the bucks that you can wish for. If I had to make a comparison, I would compare it with my saab 9-3 Aero, but a little touch more confy while a bit less nimble. Also like ANY other cars, some people are just plain stupid... They beat the crap out of ther car and then they complain about having problems... And since a lot of the people who buy these are young guys who wants performance and look for little cash, well you end up with many owners beating them up, while not spending the money to maintain them accordingly. So yeah you can end up with problems but honestly, unless you are very unlucky and stumble on a crappy individual car, you shouldn't have any problems. This engine is bullet proof, and the entire car is made of parts from the accord, so exceptionally reliable. I sold mine not because i was unhappy with it (on the contrary, I LOVES it), but because after some tough years, I finally got a good job again and I bought a lincoln MKZ 4 wheel drive. Now I just bought a Porche Cayenne (needed room for two big dogs) and I still think this was a remarkable car. And for the price, its just unbeatable. GO ahead. Just make sure you make a prebuy inspection and you'll be fine.

I have a 04 tl auto there 50/50 on the trans being bad . There still a very good upgrade from the 99 to 03models which trans went out at 60000 all the time. The main issues with these trans are failure to service trans oil on time or using any thing other Honda dw1 fluid. My tl has 250000 miles still going strong do your research on how to properly maintain these trans and never buy one with dirty fluid cause this means the damage has been done already. Change fluid every thirty thousand miles or even 20 and change serviceable filter everyone leaves out and 04 to 06can be great too

Love the car. My 04 tl would never pair properly to my phone. Ended up disconnecting my bluetooth too.

My dash is terrible. At least 40 cracks and it's crumbling. I put a cover on it 7 years ago when I bought it

The 07 or 08 TL’s still did not allow you to stream music from your phone? I thought that my 05 was the last model before that feature started
