Oh and I think the time travelling thing was meant to be like a closure for Scarlet. You know, like she never had any closure regarding her unresolved feelings for her mom and that episode sort of made her see things differently which in turn helped her to talk to her father sincerely and forgive him. However, I also thought her pretending to be her mother was cringy because what if her father had tried to kiss her or something. Eeuw.

Yeah that makes sense, it's just... why TIME TRAVEL, if Stephanie had to sneak in time travel I just wish she had paid attention to some rules of time travel or went with one of the theories. YES EXACTLY, IT WAS WEIRD

Spoiler!!!! .... The only thing that bothered me about Finale was that I didn't want Legend to lose his immortality. 😭😭 I just liked that darkness in him and I wish it hadn't been just cliche I will give up my immortality for your love. I mean, I'm happy they're together but I just wanted him to keep that essence of him because that's what made him Legend. 😔 However, I did love the book. I loved the entire series and I wishe there's a spin off.

I totally agree with this! This book was a five star read for me until the ending. I did she the time travel coming though, because there was mention of it early on, and me being the detective reader I am, knew it was coming. I also thought the ending was totally rushed! 😭 aside from the ending I loved it!

i kind of wanted legend to keep his immortality and for tella to be with jacks because i think more should have happened with them because she’s his one true love, like basically a magical being herself as she’s his only weekend and he’s like a super powerful fate. i wish jacks had been developed more and was made into more than just some boy that’s evil because he’s a fate. but also i think i like him so much because he’s a fate. and i really don’t like how legend is no longer immortal because that’s like his whole thing, and i wonder if he still has his magic or not because from what i can remember that’s never mentioned as to wether or not his immortality and magic are connected. but i really liked it although i think the ending was a little too wrapped up, in my opinion she could have stretched it out a little longer to atleast like 500 pages, it ends at around 470 i think. i really hope there’s like a spin off, maybe about tellas daughter because the sisters in the magic market place said her daughter would possess great magic or whatever, also scarlett being made empress is kinda crazy so i would like to know a little about that. but then idek if a spin off would be cool because without the game and legend and his magic i don’t know if i would even like it that much 🤷‍♀️. so in conclusion i absolutely loved the series but caraval and legendary and superior to finale.

hi from a year later! there is actually going to be a new book set in the caraval universe, it's title is once upon a broken heart, and it has Jacks in it! OUABH releases September 28, 2021.

my only problem with this book is the "immortals can't love, if they do they turn human" thing when Legend very clearly loves Tella from the second one. Like when she gets trapped in the card and we get a POV from the stars the STARS even say like "huh he loves that girl". For her to retcon it on three was a bit yiffy. But I like all the rest, including the time travel. Scarlett earned it.

I was hoping that mother would somehow still be alive and not be so bad in the end, but nope! Also, poor Jacks didn't actually hurt anyone did he? Why couldn't he have found his own love with someone else and stayed in?

The time travel really bothered me, too, and the entire plan was so ridiculously unrealistic. You can't just change a dress and cut a little hair off and magically appear to be someone else. It kind of ruined the book for me, but I loved the rest of the series.

Literally agreed with you on every point. Like this book was so fun to read until the last 50 pages then it went downhill!! I like caraval series but so many details weren’t really explored fully so it made it feel unnecessary. I’m still not over the storyline about the Scarlett and tella’s grandma falling in love with legend. Like there was honestly no point to it because it was never mentioned again. And don’t get me started on the time traveling and Paloma randomly being Elantines daughter bc where did that come from 😂. And for the time traveling - it felt like an easy way out. Anyways I actually enjoyed the book but those plot holes were driving me insane

Yes, I think the entire series was heading toward Julian or Legend being the ruler in the end. Scarlett being empress was kind of an awkward surprise and can't be healthy for her romance (but it is great if you're obsessed with the band wagon of female empowerment, which I'm all for, until it starts making societal problems that we can't solve).

this is wayyy late but i just finished the book lol. i totally agree with the time travel thing, scarlett didn’t have to literally tell her mother everything especially because it didn’t even matter since the whole pretending to be paradise thing didn’t even work. as for jacks, his character was kind of wishy washy for me cause we didn’t really get closure with him, and tbh i didn’t understand the whole “wanting tella” thing because to me he portrayed no interest in her in legendary and finale, so i was kind of confused with that plot line. there were a lot of open endings in this book and we didn’t get closure for a lot of things, like what exactly happened to marcello? what happened to jacks? what about scarlett’s “powers”? where did the rest of the fates go that weren’t talked about? idk but i did generally like the book, but i still liked caraval the best out of the three.
