Honestly, the story from Max’s tape hit me the hardest. Something about how despite all of his issues he never directed it towards his daughter while still trying his best to fix his wrongs. He’s even technically the only one of Desmond’s patients who he actually manages to help as at the end of his boss fight, Max let’s go of his anger to help Desmond.

I loved his level in the game. It's the only time I have ever legit said "Why do I hear boss music?" and then nearly had a heart attack when that big metal loving motherfucker came charging out of nowhere. Max's theme and this song were two of the best parts of the soundtrack for me.

If I'm wrong on that, someone can correct me. It's also been a bit since I've played the game. + _"take care of_ the driver" meaning _"tie up the loose end_ that is Max"

Isnt it funny, no one judges you for feeling sad, happy, depressed, miserable, excited, joyful or any of the other emotions but if you struggle with your anger, all of a sudden you need to "calm down" or "get a grip"!? My therapist told me all emotions have uses -- even rage. It's okay to have it, and it's okay to feel it - but we must manage it. She told me the same thing you did, and that no one should feel any shame for feeling any emotion ever. It's normal, and it's healthy to have anger. Without it, you wouldn't fight for anything ever and just be life's punching bag. That's why I feel so bad for Max. He just wanted to stop being used as a punching bag. He got fired for something that wasn't even his fault, and he knew it....and then that company had him taken care of. If the quarry was so easily drained, then it was easily filled. Just saying....rampage or not, Max wouldn't have died if the company cared at all.

There's something about Max's tape and his story that just hits me so much harder than the rest of the tapes. Like, he's not a great guy but I can't help but feel bad for him. Like, his wife is divorcing him and he lost custody of his daughter due to his anger issues but there's something so sad about his inability to realize that it was his doing and his tendency to blame it on everyone else. That said, this tape was a super interesting one to play through. Nowhere near the fear factor of Virginia's tape but still interesting in it's own right.

You know, I understand your point, but I still think this tape was the best. At first, I thought Max was mad, violent and overall a bad person. But after the bossfight and after we freed him, I felt really bad. If you remember, you drained out all the toxic waste from the mine, and at the bottom, you find his truck (or what remains of it), and in the glove box is a letter. He wrote it to his daughter and basically says that he wants to fix it all ; you know, his marriage, his issues. I never got that sad over a video game. This one was not focused on fear, but more on the story of this man.

Probably because it's a much more common situation than any of the other patients in the game. Anger management is a much more common problem than PTSD, watching a ship crash or having a scarred face. Mix that with any father's worst fear (losing their children), and you get a story that really pulls at your heartstrings.
