I know exactly where I was when I heard that AMC has been canceled. I was driving my school bus on Sunset passing UCLA heading back to Harvard-Westlake School. My heart dropped when I heard it on the radio. I always thought that show would outlast me. I'm not ashamed to say that I sometimes pull up old episodes on KZbin. I'll never give up hope that AMC and OLTL will somehow be reborn.

Writeres today only kno how to write 20 second scenes...how can i invest in a scene when its shorter then a commercial.perfect xample a few years back there was what could have been an epic scene on general hispitol when lesley returned and monica caught her at hosp.comp.tryingbto get private info....this would have been a stellar scene with 2 power house veterans uniting..instead it lost all impact as it was busted up into 6 mini scenes....i edited the scenes together clocked a bit over 5 mins....which should have been 2 great scenes!!!!... all soaps do this now..big mistake ...a soap viewer by nature is fairly chill if there going to invest 60 mis a day 5 days a week!!.... and if a writer cant hold your interest in a 2 minute scene .....i miss whenvsoaps were good!! ...if a writer were smart they would use some elements of why we watched back in the day....nithing to lise no one watches now any way.i recentley discovered sunset beach all in order on you tube .i didnt watch first time around ...i looooooove it....meaty character driven scenes...affairs..murders..blackmail....i highly recommend it!! ....unlike todays storys of organised crime and corpirate take overs....ok rant done lol be well all!!

I don’t know why they canceled such important forms of entertainment/soap operas have been around since the beginning of television 📺 but I remember distinctly when the downfall began-during the O .J.Simpson trial. They interrupted the soaps 🧼 for long periods of time for every little update/more interested in sensationalism than in the actual tragedy. By then, viewers were more riveted by reality than scripted drama😔 And everyone loves AMC but OLTL was the real underdog! That is one show that is sorely missed by fans!! Bring it back!!🙏🙏👍😘📺📺📺🧼🧼

I feel you. I am forever a Ryan’s Hope fan, but I blame ABC instead of Agnes. ABC mismanaged Ryan’s Hope for years, and although Loving was given RH’s time period at Agnes’ request, it was ABC who decided to move it to noon, which they knew would kill it. ABC could have possibly saved RH by sandwiching it between One Life to Live and General Hospital, but they weren’t really interested in saving it.

Has anyone noticed how Dallas & Knots Landing mirror All My Children & One Life to Live? Agnes Nixon actually created All My Children first but One Life to Live was on TV first. While David Jacob's created Knots Landing first but CBS wanted something more saga like & that's why Dallas aired 1st.
@BLTKellys3 жыл бұрын
David Jacobs created Dallas but had little to do with the show (like Agnes and OLTL). But Knots was David Jacobs' baby, like AMC was Agnes'.
@marcusj46413 жыл бұрын
True...also, Like OLTL, when Dallas first began, it was more about the trials, relationships and personal interactions between the characters, and not just the machinations of the Rich, powerful and glamorous. But after Dynasty debuted, it became what was the typical 80s nighttime soap. Ironically, it was Dallas that was the catalyst for OLTL's change in dynamic with the introduction of the Buchanans.

Besides the shows she created Agnes also created the character of Rachel Davis on Another World. The role was originally played by Robin Strasser. Victoria Wyndham took the role over when Agnes created Dorian Lord on One Life to Live. Thank you for allowing me to relive all the soaps!
@jabjab44343 жыл бұрын
Actually Robin was not the original Dorian and replaced Clare Malis who replaced 4 others, one being Dixie Carter. Robin actually left Another World to play Christine , a doctor on AMC. That did not go well and then eventually hired to play Dorian .
@markfaulkner56263 жыл бұрын
Agnes didn’t create Dorian. Dorian was created by Gordon Russell and Sam Hall. Robin left Another World because she was married to actor Larry Luckinbill, and they wanted to work on other projects. Robin left Another World, was replaced by Margaret Impert, and was persuaded to return until Victoria Wyndham took over. This was all before Dorian ever appeared on One Life to Live.
@erikandrus43872 жыл бұрын
So, from what I understand is Dr. Dorian Cramer was a creation/collaboration of both Agnes Nixon and Gordon Russell. Robin Strasser didn't begin playing her until later. While actresses Nancy Pinkerton, Dixie Carter, and Claire Malis were each taking their turn at the role, Ms. Strasser was playing Dr. Christina Karras on "All My Children". Christina wasn't a juicy role, and Robin was more than willing to play Dorian once the part became available and her contract on "Children" ended.
