While each Laser Cats is individually funny, it works even better as a 7 part saga. So Laser Cats collectively deserve a spot in Criterion.

Mr Mops. What a great memory! I lived in Berkeley from 67-70 while my dad was in graduate school and I remember the lion in the window of Mr Mops. It’s a corner store in the 30’s era art deco style, on what use to be called Grove Blvd, but was changed to Martin Luther King Jr Blvd sometime after 68. I was allowed to walk the 10 blocks from my house on Bonita Street (now Ave) to go to King Pool at the age of 7! I passed the store and was always looking at the window set ups. Great memories. Thanks guys

@WqDnbY52l026 күн бұрын
It's a lonely island production but not really (they didn't write/direct it but they are producers)
@BloomLewis26 күн бұрын
@@WqDnbY52l0 What constitutes a Lonely Island production is a little gray even amongst the members themselves. I've heard them say that if there is the Lonely Island short title card at the beginning of a short then it counts. Which I would argue the Lonely Island production title card at the beginning of Palm Springs counts as the equivalent of that. I would say between Andy acting in it and the Lonely Island producing. I think it earns a podcast episode.

Guelph, Ontario, which is probably a lot likely Berkeley, had a video store for decades that sounds like the place you're talking about. It was called Thomas Home Entertainment. They had a huge selection of movies with very knowledgeable, very hip staff. They kept vhs copies of lots of things years after DVDs came around. They even had a selection of laser discs, but I never had a player.

2 quick questions: 1) Who the hell farts on a plane? (And why do I sense that Andy's character in "Here I Go" would be filled with delight to be that guy?) 2) Was Jorm really naked in the "Dances to Lady Gaga" video, or was he wearing something to make it look like he was under the pixelation?

You guys need to do a video for “Sax-man” with JB and Bill Clinton - Funny story - Saxman was the first Lonely Island thing I ever heard - I was on a gig in Canada as a U2 Tribute Band - and our drummer showed it to me. Then I went down the rabbit hole of Lonely Island and never came back. But a saxman video is sadly lacking…lol
