Those metal tipped lugs are just perfect for days like today where it just dumped 6 inches by surprise.

@@TheLongRanger We've had it easy today in Colorado Springs. Ya'll got hit hard up north!

Interesting. I've been searching for a wider climbing shoe that "works" (does not cause extreme foot pain in ~30minutes). I'll have to give them a shot.

Try them out (in person). I actually max out how tight I can pull the velcro straps in the morning, before a run (feet naturally swell during the afternoon). There's a brand called Butora that offers wide-lasted, performant shoes. They're not distributed as widely, but could be another option.

I really wanted to get a pair of those blizzards this winter. My size seemed impossible to find in Canada for some reason. I'll have to try again for next season!
@TheLongRanger9 ай бұрын
Looks like they go up to size 13.5/47.5 on the NA website, which should ship to CA (hopefully without a huge shipping markup!) as well as distribute to your local shops. They're built around the, "Tempo 2 Ergo" last just like the Mutant and the Cyklon, so if you can't find the Blizzard to try on, try on one of those to get a good idea of the fit of the Blizzard.

Probably unrelated; the Bushido now comes in WIDE!!! Now if you don't mind telling your friends a Sportiva, some of us wear a 14 and would like accommodation in other shoes... LOL
@TheLongRanger8 ай бұрын
LOL - I saw that! Have you tried them? I've never used the Bushido because they've historically been too narrow for me. I'm a little worried as the LS site does say it's built on the same last, making the wider fit I guess just being a differently sized upper? The site may also just be wrong.
@bayoubear_brown8 ай бұрын
@@TheLongRanger I've never tried them, I have wide flat feet. Their Trango series and TX Hike series are what fit me best, I do have a pair of Raptor II's in wide and a size up. I also have a pair of Jackals.

@@TheLongRanger what's your feelings on the the standard Cyklon runners?
@TheLongRanger8 ай бұрын
@@bayoubear_brown Yeah I love them. Feel super secure and sensitive under foot. Wouldn't be my first choice for ultra long distance, but the daily run, they're really nice. Width-wise, close to the Mutant but maybe a little tighter in the toe box, I actually size down a 1/2 EU. I also checked with the Bushido III sizing: the wide uses the same last, but the upper uses more material for more room.

You not considered the Speed GTX instead of the Trango? Cheers

Im not gonna lie, I got the Jackal IIs after watching your video, and they lasted about 3 months from the end of April til now…. I can get a solid year out of Altras, they just don’t fit my feet as well. It’s been a wet spring but still I’d expect more.

Late to the conversation here: winter in town running and compact winter trail running. What would be the recommendation in your opinion between the blizzard and cyklon?
@TheLongRanger4 ай бұрын
Depends on the snow/ice coverage. If that’s going to be critical to deal with go with the blizzard with the built in carbide tips
