The praise for Rob Pelinka🙌 What he has done as GM is something I don’t think any other GM would do. After the Westbrook trade, Rob has done everything he can to keep his future picks safe and not waste them on bigger moves. Especially with the CBA rules and tax apron, he has avoided the lakers being in any worse of a situation. He has stood up against the pressure, and this Luka trade is phenomenal for the future. BUT, this is now a team without an NBA starting caliber big man, and they’re without picks until 2031. What matters most is what does Pelinka and the lakers do NEXT? Do they trade LeBron? Do they roll with trying to make moves to build around Luka and LeBron (with less than a week left to do so)? This trade deadline has gone from one of the most quiet ones to the biggest ones since I started watching

Genuinely, I believe that this trade was done under wraps because no other NBA team was aware that a Luka trade was possible. It's the fact that they didn't even take the time to assess other options, just hit up the Lakers and offered Luka on a plate. Genuinely makes no sense. And their excuse for his conditioning and all that stuff, how many other stars have gone through this and still performed at a high level? They're clearly going for a "win it now" squad because this "future" they're talking about, I genuinely don't see it. Unless they wanna hand the keys to Max Christie for the future, then I wish them luck on that. For the Lakers, no matter how you see it, this is an absolute steal. They were able to keep a FRP and still have their 2RP, only downside is that their defence is more vulnerable. But a healthy Luka is a top player in the league. Even this season he's averaging 28 points and only played 22 games. When he's available, he is a problem for any team.

If the Mavs proposed Luka to the Lakers, Luka must have been doing some wild stuff behind the scenes as well as being 260lbs. The Mavs only getting 1 1st round pick is wild considering getting Mikal was needed 5 1st round picks. The Mavs has now a 3 year window to win now if Kyrie accepts his player option, is in my opinion a 2nd round playoff team at best, and the Lakers must know that LeBron is either retiring this year, or next year. This also means that Reeves may be on the trading block, but I hope that's not the case. Those are my initial thoughts on this trade.

I doubt AR is in the trading block, think about it, if Lebron retires this year or next year. Lakers won't need to wait for many years to rebuild, since they have the young core of Luka, Austin and Dalton considering that these guys are all in the same age range wise. I have a pretty detailed take on this. Los Angeles lost initially, however I don’t think Dallas necessarily won. Dallas will probably be better this year, but you just trade it away your future. I agree with the Kyrie part you mentioned. I do think those two will be a big duo, but I could see Klay struggling. For LA this only makes sense if you’re gonna blow the entire thing up. If you trade away Lebron right now, then it makes sense. Mixed bag as far as how I feel.
