You’d be lying if you thought houston was going to make THIS big of a jump this year though, i thought they would be fighting for a 6th to 8th seed spot with how strong the west is, but i didn’t imagine they’d be 2nd in the west halfway through the season.
@WhereIsYourID13 сағат бұрын
@chimpchamp6167 Yeah I didnt think they'd be 2nd but I knew theyd be well over 500. So really its just seeds 2-8 being 6.5 games apart. They lose a few games they can fall to 4th or lower. Basically what im sayin is I knew they'd be in that pack of teams

How far they'll go is up to them. I wish them more success along the way.

Without the Rockets older players, they would have 9 less wins then they currently do. Alot of their success is due to Steven Adams, Brooks and VanVleet, a former champion.

Actually partially wrong, fvv had played like historically bad for most of this year, go look at his numbers lol still is under 40% fg percent as a guard. He has played better recently as he isn’t shot chucking and just being a initiator for the young guys. DB was crazy efficient the start of the season but has cooled down recently but still solid. Steve is interesting cus at the start of the year he was almost unplayable to where we would have to play jock landale, and since getting himself back in playing shape and knocking all the rust off, he’s genuinely been one of the best backup bigs in the nba

Basketball Gods, I suffered years of SF3+Cuttino...Harden+Howard....Harden+Westbrook+Melo....please please make Tari and Amen Rockets for life!!!
@is.that.Mazzi.18 сағат бұрын
Houston capitalized on their draft picks after Harden’s departure AND they didn’t listen to the doubters while their young guys developed THEN hired a championship level coach. Mind you, they’re still one of the youngest teams with good vets to mentor the young guys. One of the best rebuilds of the decade so far.

Early in this season there was a major discrepancy between the actual 3 point shooting and the expectations. First you have Fred who career 3 point shooting was much higher than what he was doing. Then you have guys like Jabari and Tari. Those guys were not shooting great, but the expectation is for both those guys to be well above average in that regard. Next I would address Cam. Now he is not expected to be a sniper, his expectation is to be at least average in 3 point shooting. So all those guys started off shooting way below the expectations. So from the beginning of the season, I have felt things had a ton of possibilities this year and in the future. Because if they can continue the defensive play, I expect all of those guys to eventually be decent to good from 3 point. That combination makes this team a contender. Then on top of that are the unanswered questions. These players is they actually fulfill expectations are what make this team a potential championship level team. The greatest question is Jalen. When he gets hot, he is a true top 10 player. But he has had more bad games than great games. This year he finally looked excellent on defense, but his offense has been inconsistent. Lately he looks like a star. If he continues that this team is for real. Then there is Sengun. He has been our Hub offensively, he’s defense has improved. Now he needs to convert a higher percentage in the paint and he needs to be a consistent 3 pt threat. If he does that along with Jalen, then this team can go deep. And we still have Tari and Cam who have far more potential than we have tapped. And Jabari has a mid post game that is darn near unguardable, but we rarely go to it. So while many people were clamoring for a trade for shooting, I feel we have many guys that can fulfill that role. And while Amen may never be a good shooter, I have seen him knock down wide open 3s that he would have missed last year. There is way too much potential for this team to not have a top 10 or top 5 offense eventually. And who knows what Reed will be. My long term concern is we will not be able to keep all these guys. So im afraid at some point there will be a consolidation trade. I just want them team to take its time so it can figure out what they have and who they should trade.

I’m not sure Jalen quieted trade talks because the Rockets still have weaknesses at PG with Fred. Fred’s shooting splits are atrocious, way worse than Green has been at any point in the season, and he has som defensive limitations because of his size. Plus it’s unlikely the Rockets will pick up his contract after this year so they still need a DeAaron Fox in the offseason. I also think they should trade Brooks for Cam Johnson before the trade deadline. Even if they don’t do that, they should at least start Amen over him when Jabari gets back.
