Your book, your teaching style, your attitudes, and your LSAT philosophy are groundbreaking. I recommended it to people in my Power Score course who were having trouble with concepts that are only ever explained in one hit-or-miss way across other LSAT programs.

Got the Trainer. Got the tests in the mail today. 14 week plan here I come. Mike Kim's work, opposed to other major LSAT prep companies, proposes simplicity and understanding of basic tasks coupled with repetition in pairs. As someone who has in previous years taken the LSAT and used other companies, I find what I have so far used from Mike to be exactly what I'm looking for in self-study. Many thanks Mike and I hope my positive views persist as I continue through the program .

Very helpful. I usually feel inadequate because the questions bring up outside issues that I thought I was supposed to know answers to. I am so relieved to understand that is part of the test itself, knowing when the question is not in the lane of the discussion, so knowing I can narrow the scope to the text is comforting. I have an imagination so knowing I don't need to use it is great.

Hey Mike, fantastic work. Just wanted to offer an additional note about why 17 B is incorrect. 17 B says that "such documents can not be protected from unauthorized distribution...." but the passage makes it clear that creating a link to a document should not be considered the same as distribution. From the passage: "Hence creating a link to a document is not the same as making or distributing a copy of that document." Just another detail that makes this answer extra wrong!

I have a question. When you recommend that when practicing for the LSAT we practice the same passage again until we master it, I would like to know why is this helpful if the LSAT has different passages and test questions? Why couldn't we just apply the same technique you taught us to different passages? Thanks!

Write all of your answers on a separate sheet of paper. Doing so allows you to come back to the same question in the future--once you've forgotten the answer--and try again. I do this with logic games. There is one game I've done multiple times and made the exact same diagramming mistake three times! Fourth time is the charm, I hope.

I have a question. When you say, "Try it untimed and review as carefully as you can," could this suggestion apply to the second time you take a practice test in general, when the questions are different from the first practice exam you did, or is this only when you're going through the same passage as before? Thank you. This video was helpful!

I have a question: In question 21., why the option B is an incorrect answer? As to using the analogy, it does represents two sides of the copyright debate and it does seem like an attractive answer. Can you give more context to why this is a wrong answer? Thanks so much Mike. Have a great Wednesday! :)
@iheartsinging123
@iheartsinging123 6 жыл бұрын
Hi, so my understanding is that B is incorrect NOT because the telephone conversation is NOT used as an analogy, but because it is NOT used to illustrate the two sides of the passage (which answer B states), it is more so used to provide support for the author's side of the copyright issue. Hope this helps!

Hey Ben -- glad you find the videos helpful and excited to see how the book turns out for you -- The most common LSAT-related advice is to read a lot of dense material, such as The Economist -- I'm not so sure I agree with that -- I do think it's very important to read a lot -- and to be in "great reading shape" -- One book I suggest to everyone is "A Short History of Nearly Everything" by Bill Bryson -- it offers multiple benefits in that a) it is science written for non-science readers -- same as LSAT science passages b) it discusses a huge % of the major scientific events of the modern era, and thus will very likely cover something that is, at least tangentially, related to what your LSAT science passage will be about c) it is, at least in my opinion, incredibly inspiring, and it can also really get you hooked on reading. Other than that, I suggest that you just try to work on reading as many high-quality books/materials as you can in any subjects that you find interesting -- HTH - Good luck with your studies and get in touch if you need me - MK

Is it because it gives the complete issue on copyright and the author actually gives his opinion on the issue?

Hi, so my understanding is that B is incorrect NOT because the telephone conversation is NOT used as an analogy, but because it is NOT used to illustrate the two sides of the passage (which answer B states), it is more so used to provide support for the author's side of the copyright issue. However, if the author used the telephone conversation analogy to explain BOTH SIDES of the copyright law debate, then it could be correct. It is not the "analogy" part of answer B that makes it wrong, its the part that says that it is used to "illustrate the positions taken by each of the two sides in the copyright debate." Hope this helps!

Hey Joseph, Pretty much all flaws can be described using either of those terms -- you don't have to worry about choosing between them -- they are both phrases that can help you see what is wrong with arguments, and ideally you want to work to get better and better at describing flaws both ways -- there will be lots more discussion about that in the Trainer as you move forward -- HTH and let me know if you need anything else -- MK

**ANSWER SPOILER ALERT*** **ANSWER SPOILER ALERT*** For #15, choosing between A and E, I understand why E is incorrect in using "radical" and using the word "growth" to describe access. But I really don't see how A can be remotely considered the main point. I mean, we see the author's main point right in the last sentence like a big "and this is why I wrote this." A doesn't even mention the author's concern about changing copyright laws. I immediately ruled it out as FAR too narrow.
