It's absolutely stunning, of course. This is exactly the kind of small, exclusive, anonymous, luxury hideaway the rich and famous retreat to: hard to reach, and far from the maddening crowds. I'm never going to get to stay in a place like this, but it's enjoyable to at least see what I'll be missing. Paradise still somehow exists in this world. But it comes with a hefty price tag.

I love it! They even went with all soft yellow or green rather than the yellow and green combination of pillows on the furniture. Together it just took away from the chic spaces. Such a minor thing, but it jumped out at me everytime because the rest of the decor just flowed so well. These videos are so satisfying... thanx! 😌

@@theresarossouw1637 Birds get spooked by reflective surfaces. If you have pigeons in your garden or balcony hanging a piece of string with aluminum foil or some old CDs will scare them off. Especially when it flutters in the wind.

That's more of a village than a villa! Forget the gym--where's the kitchen? This mini-resort should come with a private chef! I know the restaurants on the island are fabulous, but I might not feel like going out every night. See what you've done, Dr. LTE--I'm spoiled rotten!

found the beach and garden to be the most impressive parts, as well as combination of pools; rooms are rather simple and rustic, nothing remarkable, having no touch of any exquisite design, are similar to what can be found in some 4* Tanzanian or other African resort not belonging to international hotel network

Thanks for this experience! Putting a sitting area in the middle of the pool is a major design flaw. Those will get wet when someone splashes in the pool or when it rains. It looked like a trampoline was located under a big wooden beam so if someone were to jump too high there would be injuries. Looks like most of the exterior is made from untreated wood which may not age well.

why would you be sitting there when it's raining??? And if anyone splashes you hard enough for you to get wet then there doing it on purpose, i don't think getting a bit wet when your in a paradise like this is that bad, i personally love the seating in the middle of the pool. Im sure they would have looked at treating or not treating the wood in a luxury place like this, i don't think they forgot, drift wood is untreated and it lasts for ages. Do have any positive comments???

That's not a trampoline - it's just netting. It's sometimes called a 'catamaran net' after the ones used on the boats of the same name. I'm sure the resort uses weather-resistant fabrics on their outdoor furniture, considering they've been running a luxury resort in an area with strong tropical sunlight and monsoons for quite a few years now. As for the wood, my guess is it's teak which naturally weathers to silver when left untreated. It's a wood that is naturally resistant to water damage which is why it's frequently used in pool furniture. Anything else you want to criticize, Mr SuperGenius? Or are you just a living example of "the mediocrity of a middle aged cis-het white man"?

But there's negatives about Soneva that most other luxury travel blogs consistently articulate - and that I realize now you purposely glossed over in your written reviews (like the poor A/C, butlers are assigned to too many villas, uncomfortable outdoor bathroom at night w/ the bugs). I hope you are more upfront about sponsorship and will visit a wider variety of resorts.
