I just realized this after watching this music video for the 6th time lol. They didnt just shoot the opening that way because it's a classic hip hop camera angle etc, its also because we are supposed to be hip hop laying on the operating table while the IV surgeons stand over us trying to revive us as he goes 1, 2, 3, 4 hip hop dont die giving us CPR then 5, 6, 7 more pumps to our chest, we have a pulse! The photographer in me adores this video for how it is shot. Rio and the team did an incredible job with the production and scouting, but the timing was perfect! The pan through the group to get to Rio like he was talking directly to us, and the the pan with the train coming in the opposite direction to place a wall in between our intimate conversation and everything else going on around. The subtle lighting changes, just everything! It is how I design and how I shoot, I want multiple stories and visuals weaved throughout my work so that you never get bored viewing it, there is always something, a meaning, an outline, anything.
