That tiny portion being £18 is why I do not eat Fish N Chips any more. Even in 2006 when I used to get it every lunch as it was next to work, it was £1 for a large chips and £4.50 for a Cod three times the size of that.

Got to say from reading the reviews of the codfather on google it sounds like ppl really like it plus it didnt seem much more expensive than what you ended up paying so you shud definitely go back and give it a go

It's correct about the building. There's another one which is literally built on a wall because of a tax on 'land use', its kept up by wooden timbres from the wall. This was centurues ago, when the government were eager to make money (nothing new there....) - like when you were taxed on the anount of windows you had in your home. In order to avoid paying you can still see in some stately homes where some of the windows were literally bricked up. Great video 👍

Lee, still can’t get my head around eating Fish and Chips with curry sauce, in my day it was Tartar sauce still is but I’m 78 now and set in my ways. Good video of Ambleside I had a holiday there over 40 years ago, it brought back memories! I remember trying to photograph my son he was about 9 years old, we were on one of the jetties and he was squinting because he had the son in his eyes, he still remembers it.

Tartar sauce is ubiquitous here in the USA. I hate its flavor, texture, and smell, but almost everyone here insists on having it with fish. I’d rather have a hot sauce like Tabasco or maybe something slightly milder. I’m in Florida and it’s extremely hard to get fresh fish here without paying a great deal of money. I live next to a small town that used to have its own small fishing fleet, but that’s long gone. I rarely see fish and chips here. There might be the occasional British-themed restaurant that has it, but it’s unusual.

I do enjoy a garden centre and my garden with my apple and pear trees and solar powered bird bath fountain- very relaxing. Lots of fruit to make cider and tasty puddings too (if the wildlife leave me some!) If youre thinking about getting some fruit trees, Pomona fruits is great.

Do you know, I have absolutely no sense of direction whatsoever…and yet I use Apple Maps all the time when I’m away from home and I can find even a cafe in the middle of nowhere, every town parking I could want to choose from, and every campsite and hotel that I stay at. Even hunting for campsites or B&Bs in an area I want to go to. I love Apple Maps 😀

Apple Maps occasionally gets things wrong: give it my address and it shows a location several blocks away (the numbering of this street is very bizarre, though. A few years ago, Google Maps used to find usable but bizarre routes that were far from obvious. I haven’t had it do that of late.

18 seems so expensive ro me. But that fish seemed up my street. Thin and crispy, i prefer the batter to the fish tho, im not a massive fish and chips fan. I much prefer a sausage dinner. come from thr northwest, thr only thing i miss moving to wales is thry just dont do nice chips, live liverpool, widnes, Warrington, st helens and all that area. Whenever i return "home" me and my wife will alway treat oue selve to a proper chippy dinner. Its fummy no matter how long you move ago you still call it home, even though we have live ejere we live longer now thst we lived "at home" and somce we left we have raised 5 kids (2 born where we live out real home) and they all but one have flown the nest. So to rwfer to ehere we grew up as home, when given all my best memories (and some of the worst) thst come with raising a family out fond but now almost empty house is definaly our home.

Just looked up codfather, it's quite a large chain . All over the uk . Ambleside price was. £12.45 for fish and chips. Our nearest one is Abergavenny. Walked passed it many times and never noticed it. I see it clearly on street view.. And it's got all 5 stars reviews. Will try that one.. .

Lots of people love the English Lakes. My late mum&dad went their every year. Had their honeymoon many decades ago. Loved the clean air and beautiful scenery. It represents a more inocent time, people liked simple holidays. It is good to see, people still enjoying the simple pleasures.
