Quite a touching tribute to your old man there Lee. A great vlog. As a sidenote, I'm a big lover of TV writers and have to express my admiration of Roy Clarke OBE who wrote that show amongst many others... Keeping Up Appearances, Open All Hours... to name but two more. 92 years of age and still writing to this day. Legend

I was introduced to LTSW through public TV here in the states and it quickly became my favorite show. Unfortunately, it became too old fashioned when children started running public television stations and we no longer can watch it. The theme song always brings a tear to my eye.

Lovely old clips from Holmfirth Lee, with those clips from your previous visits with your family. I must admit that it was one of my late mothers favourite places to visit. And it brought back some lovely memories for me too. We visited as many of the shows recognisable filming spots as we could, including those you highlighted while you were filming. We also visited the grave of Compo actor Bill Owen, that's situated in a little graveyard at St John’s Church in Upperthong, not far from Compo's Fish & Chip Shop. Since the death of Clegg actor Peter Sallis OBE, in 2017, the two were finally reunited in death. They were buried next to each other, in this beautiful little part of the world, that they both loved so much. After actor Bill Owen was buried after his death in 1999, Peter Sallis OBE, purchased the neighbouring burial plot to his friend, so that they could be close to each other, even in death. On the subject of the Fish & Chips from Compo's, as soon as i saw them i said to myself... if they taste as good as they look, i'm giving them a 10/10... and they obviously did. Thanks for the review Lee, and the happy (if tearful) memories it brought back to me too. All the best my friend. Cheers. 🍺

Oh what a great vlog Lee. Holmfirth, my old home town, been to Compos loads of times. The restaurant is nice too if the weather is too bad to sit outside. I've been trying visit Holmfirth & UK for the last 3 years but unable to do so due to Covid, hopefully next year. Glad you enjoyed the fish & chips & the area mate, it brought a tear to my eye.

I got quite emotional watching this. My nan and grandad always watched Last Of The Summer Wine , so this video brought back a lot of happy memories of being in their living room with the fire on full blast and feelings of nostalgia. Thank you for that. I like all your videos but I think I've found my favourite one now.

I went there on a Saturday many moons ago, while visiting Yorkshire and met Compo, Bill Owen. He was unvailing a plaque in a small garden. Nice man, very posh spoken. I remember my late Dad being disappointed because he was wearing a dinner suit and a pair of black specks , not his scruffs. I remember telling him Dad the show was not real... And getting a slap for winding me up.. Great Days.. Rip Dad, Mum and Sis.

Hi Lee! Oh boy what a great place to visit. I am a huge huge fan of the Carry on films and Sid Owen who played Compo was in a couple of the first black and white films Nurse and Cabby. He’s was a great character in LOTSW . So much nostalgia. Kathy Staff was in Open All Hours and LOTSW and both were written by Roy Clarke. Wow Clegg aka Peter Sallis another famous voice in Wallace - Gromit. Brian Wilde as Foggy too was in Porridge. And we lost dear Robert Fyfe not long ago who played Howard RIP to them all 🌈🙏🏻 As for the review that looked amazing. Great portion, peas and curry looked fab. Definitely off the charts as DJ would say at a 10. Great to see your filming memories of your dad too. Very nice Vlog 👍🏻👍🏻

Like one of your Blackpool videos did for me, this video has also brought back fond memories for me too because I've been to Holmfirth with my girlfriend about 2 years ago and we went to all the places you showed in your video. But unfortunately we never went to Compos fish n chip shop. And to add insult to injury we did drive past it, more than once! Those fish and chips looked very good. Its a 10 from me. Your video was also put together and presented so excellently (as with all your videos) and it became quite moving. So its 10+/10 for your video too. Cheers Mr MacMaster.

Bannys fish and chop restaurant at Boundary Mill, Colne Arnside chippy, Cumbria Bizzie Lizzies ,Skipton Knott End chippy, Preesall Ambleside Fish &Chips, by the Lake, Ambleside The Fish house, Fleetwood We ride out on our motorbikes and these are all good, never been let down at any of them.

Last of the Summer Wine, by ec' I loved that show, and Porridge, and Only Fools and Horses. Did you ever do an episode in Peckham? Why was everything better in the old days? Well food taste is obvious since you lose tastebuds as you age, but when I used to have a deep fat fryer I used beef dripping, because lard stank, and by god it makes a difference to the taste. I buy beef dripping from asda still today for my yorkshire pud, roast spuds and veg.

Pleased the F&C (fish and chips) gave you nostalgia. Havent had that for years with F&C. I can still remember the old taste. The chips used to be amazing. then it all suddenly changed around 87/88. 10/10 the whole thing (video. chips. your dad on video, nostalgia etc) All the best.

Ey up Lee, great review!!. Also reminded me of my late father (pipe smoker) the memory taste could be the beef dripping and homemade chips!! Not always easy to tell how big the portion size is as your hands are like shovels and with a couple of different camera angles it's a bit awkward to get a true definition. It's a solid 9/10 with .5 deducted for the blue plastic fork and .5 deducted for the traditional curry. all in all, looks well worth a visit. Looking forward to the next f/c review!!
