The collector boxes are staying up, I wish they were lacking in success so I could get dumped ones but that's not the reality we are in. Also if they were failing, Wotc would of stopped doing them. Personally I think the problems with remastered sets is the same problem that plagues a lot of magic, too much shit. Remastered sets aren't as fun when we are getting product jammed down our throat at every turn. There is no anticipation or excitement for old things when there is so much new shit.

They should've reprinted all the "Universes Within" of the Walking Dead cards. They're skipping cards like Cavern of Souls and Mikaeus, but including cards from sets other than Innistrad. They're adding filler when there are cards that would fit better. This is getting goofy. I forgot that the "universes within" versions of the Stranger Things cards were also set on Innistrad. They've only been printed in "the list" slot, so this set would've been perfect for all of those TWD and ST remakes.

I don’t like remastered sets in general, but to now apparently have any cards in it just because (through the breach and hermit druid) for example, negates any flavor it had. “So, Innistrad Remastered is cards from innistrad sets?” “Sure, but also whatever we want to reprint at all.” Don’t get me wrong, I love these cards, but how is splice onto arcane in innistrad?

They did not print more werewolves and I speculate that is because paper werewolves is a nightmare to play against. Not because the cards are necessarily over powered. But because every card has to flip and every player has to track the night/day mini game. This leads to 20 minute turns where the werewolf player is taking a long time to just... flip the cards in sleeves. Its litterally more gamebreaking than infect.

@Saiku I won't outright refuse to play with MDFC cards, simply because flip/utility lands are an amazing option for decks. But I agree with you. They should have either triggered or activated abilities that work depending on day/night and don't work otherwise. However, the day/night game is quite annoying to play against. Admittedly, I delete with prejudice anyone at the table the runs werewolves. This is to ensure 45 minute games don't take 3 hours.

Gheist is such a well designed card too. It's powerful, but creates interesting decisions on both sides. He's had to remove, but can't attack for free, and if the 4 extra damage isn't a huge deal then he's kinda just 2/2 for 3, but he's such a house when he's working well. And that's amazing design. The fact that this card that is powerful but not broken is now bulk trash is horrible sign of where we are as a game.

Thing that MASSIVELY pisses me off about basic land sets, is you only get ONE of each. Considering the cost, they could easily afford to put 2 or even 4 of each land type in. On a side note, if they're including double sided cards in a drop, they should include a token card to go into your deck

Day/Night is a pain but it's still cleaner than og werewolves. You don't have cases where one werevolf is transformed and the other is not and opponents can't stop the fmtrabsformation with an instant on your end step.

@ It isnt clear when its been 20 turns since the last day night card was played and then a new one is cast relying on information that isn’t tracked during normal gameplay. I generally hated this mechanic and causes a phantom speedbump throughout the entire rest of the game for everyone to manage but sometimes for absolutely nothing.

I think what hurts Innistrad remastered is that it hasn't been that long since our last visit, Time spiral never had been back to that block and Ravnica remastered we had not been back since War of the Spark( 2019) . For Innistrad we just had three sets there in the last few years ( 2021) . I think they should have waited another year or two for an Innistrad remaster set and i do agree on more chase cards are needed. I don't know what else they could have used for a remaster set in it's place though. Tarkir is out given we are going back there this year already. We already hit Dominaria and Ravnica and I am not sure how well a Kamigawa remastered set would hit. WOTC seems to regard Lorwyn as it's kryptonite and i am not sure there is enough exciting stuff from that block to make a remastered set work. We were to Ixalan very recently and there was already an Amonkhet remastered set on Arena so i doubt they want to go there. We also fairly recently had our fill of Phyrexians so it feels too soon for a Mirodin/New Phyrexia remaster set. All i can think of thats left is either Zendikar or Theros that have enough stuff to mine for potential remaster sets as beyond that all the sets have mostly been one or two offs at best.

Dominaria remaster was a good set to celebrate the 30th anniversary and I think that a mirodin remaster would have worked very well before the release of all will be one to do a complete recap of the history of the plan. A core set remaster (excepted alpha/beta/unlimited/revise) would be more interesting from a financial point of view than a remaster of theros or zendikar

The first chaos vault lair is actually pretty nice. The steely resolve is a nice treat for green decks and had no reprints until now. Sure, the flip design may make them a bit more complicated to use, but damn: These cards look so good in real life. Not the typical "slap some foil under an artwork" stuff. The digital pictures really do not transport the true beauty of these pieces at all. Initially I only bought the lair cause it was cheap and I saw that the asking price for the singles was relatively high over here, but after seeing the cards in person, I am really tempted to just keep them all

At this point recent "collector" boxes all made a profit if you got them cheap early on and sit on them for a year or more. That said, almost any stock market product does better, but still, for Magic sealed product, Collector boxes are the way to go ; as they do not get "reprinted" , they are limited (the specific cards do get reprinted tho).

Collector boxes are borderline impossible for LGS's to restock. My local has resorted to buying Standard Collector boxes from Ebay, and flips them easily for profit in-store, pack by pack afterwards. People want collector packs. Ive bought 2 Innistrad Collector boxes purely with the intent of selling them back to an LGS. Did it with Duskmourn. Did it with Bloomburrow. Did it with Foundations. Did it with MH3. Say what you want about the power level, new players are buying up collector packs at a ravenous pace. Regardless of the set, power level or flavor. Doesnt seem sustainable long-term, but until that time I'm riding that wave to the shore 🍻

When I started playing magic all the way back in The first innistrad block and we got to go to ravnica I knew I fell in love with the right hobby I love the plan of ravnica. And I count every time the story involves ravnica or there's a set involving ravnica, I count it as a planeswalk to ravnica. 🏰🏟️🏥🏣🏨🏘️🏪⛪🛕🏢🏗️ Ravnicas' two colored guilds was a strong building idea for me starting out. And for commander I think two color decks are pretty strong.

Ravinca Remastered had next to zero effect on Shock Lands. I doubt, that many of the cards will be affected. Maybe some of the pricier cards, that don't see too much play anymore - like Pioneer banned Sorin, Snapcaster Mage, the Dominaria United version of Liliana of the Veil, Meathook and Mausoleum Wanderer. They all might loose a buck or two.

Meanwhile I want a Mirrodin remastered. Mox reprints, kaldra token, retro frame artifact lands or borderless. Its got more sets to pull from than Ravnica. I have no attachment to Innistrad but who is this for. They left out the 3 biggest reprints for constructed. I cant speak to the limited experience but its not priced for draft. Craterhoof, snapcaster, Liliana, and Delver retro reprints are cool especially for Legacy and thank god that Edgar Markov finally got a reprint. But i dont see people ripping packs for those few things. The slow lands were a nice surprise i forgot about but theres no new treatments. If theyre gonna focus on the secondary market, then they need to actually really focus on it and print the good stuff into these sets instead of all the stuff people can easily get for pennies. But then they price everyone out of it because of their stupid equity formulas. I dont mind non plane reprints with new art especially if its to smooth out limited, but then price it so I can actually afford to draft it.

Integrating cards from other worlds into a remaster of one specific world isn't my favourite move wotc could have made but I'll take one out of place magic world inside another worlds remaster anytime over universe beyond cards inside my magic in universe sets. At least they could give an explanation for it. Omenpaths, a Planeswalker from ixalan summoned the creature or something like that. But I sure have my hopes up for the Final Fantasy UB. FFX is one of my all time favourite videogames and Spira would be such a beautiful setting for a magic set

@@unknowntitan5884 I usually buy Japanese cards since they are much cheaper (higher quality for other games), and oh boy, the decline over the year has been really significant. It's like WOTC Japanese printing company are trying to compete with the WOTC USA printing company over who can do it worse.

They need to redo the werewolves design from scratch. They tried it once with the "no spells" / "two or more spells" thing, and it was horrible. Then, as usual, they insisted on it because they're stubborn and love to think they didn't fail... so they failed again with Night and Day. And then they failed with the "become werewolf" activated abilities. Just make something like "werewolf levelers" instead of those weird back and forth effects. Transforming cards sucks: it sucked with morph, with disguise, with manifest, with mutate, with those kamigawa flippers, with meld... Just make them nice to track, like Monstrous, but not ridiculously overcosted.
