Tekken is among the very few 'games' that I know of where you can truly choose the closest character to who you really are at the deepest level. I'm a character loyalist and appreciate all others because consistency enables scenes like 16:50 to become a possiblity. It's the only reason Book had any chance... Akuma was crushed A.F. If he (Book) concentrated on Jin... He can enter Arslan/Knee/Mmickeyss territory.

But at mid level (where most ppl live) tiers list matter even less since low tier characters can get away with more due to lack of knowledge

Jin is only super strong if you're extremely proficient at fundamentals. Why he's difficult is because: 1) the accessibility of his combos are limited to high execution of fundamentals i.e. micro dashes, wavu wavus, electrics, very specific parry timing 2) He has no plus frame mid lock down move. His only one that was relatively usable in neutral was ff4 which was nerfed to only cause the opponent to be forced into crouch at neutral frames. 3) His 12 frame punish is not "a little bad" it's unusable. Get-up kicks cause too much push back for jin to get any punish. He's forced to use 2,4 which also whiffs more so than it hits. Which brings me to the next point. 4) Range issues on his pokes. Jin is forced to go into his opponents striking range in order to create some amount of an offense. His jabs are very low range. F3 12frames has less range than his df1 which also lacks range. 2,1,4 has so little forward momentum that it can be back dashed. His only pokes that travel forward are F4 and B2,1. Where Jin excels is when he can time you for a counter hit, whiff punish electric, or 50/50 through wave dash.

1) most of his combos are generic tekken combos where you just use combo strings aside from certain pickups or max range f4 on CH without going into Zen. 2) A lot of characters don't have this. 3) Punishment is more than just knowing the numbers, spacing is also important. Jin also has moves that are unpunishable dependant on spacing like d/f1,4~4 even by excellent punishes like kaz or dj b1,2. 4) You want a character with excellent punishment, great 50/50s, a great keep out/CH game, evasive moves, and the best parry in the game to also have mega range pokes? You just want an even better version of fahk dressed up as a generic Shounen protaganist, don't you?

@@xLimitlesso You sound salty. I never asked for anything. In any context talking about a character in the competitive scene, you assume optimal play i.e. optimal damage and wall travel. In order to do well with Jin you need to do all of the above. Not every character is designed this way. Jin used to be a character that was very simply designed. Back in season 1 and 2 you could use generic strings to execute a combo. After season 2 that was no longer the case. F4 with zen needs a double wavu or a wavu cancel for optimal wall travel. Without zen you to micro dash... twice. Once immediately after the CH and another before b2,1. In order to play Jin at the highest level you need to master fundamentals of movement and timing.

Some characters can walk you down, some can attack you from mid screen, some crush mids and highs, some can lock you down with plus frames, some all of the above. Jin is limited to what he's good at. There's a reason why he's rarely seen in the majority of Top 8's in Tekken tournaments. His gameplay is meticulous and execution heavy. In a high stress environment you want to think as little as possible and receive the highest reward. Jin is high stress, high reward.

As a jack main there is no excuse why a jack could possibly hang with a jin who is top 10 in this game.. jin has everything for every situation "OP" is what I'm saying.. Anakin is just a beast and yes jack still needs buffs.. his basic T6 move list is basically climbing a uphill battle especially against DLCs. His frames are shit, no parries, weak sidestep, way too honest, and only a couple of moves to utilize...just a overall dated character compared to others. But JACK is still my main and fOR whoever plays with him I feel ya pain.. #JACK #ONE🦾🦾

​@@waserdert6259 this isn't why he is weaker than say, Jin. Wall travel is his main bottleneck in season 4, as TMM said repeatedly. His frames are fine. ff1 and FC db1 are ones of the best moves in the game. Full screen whiff punish with df2 and f1+2. Huge reach on his jab - it's i11 for a reason, it would be completely broken otherwise And one of the main strengths, that's it's a very simple, risk free and consistent character. You can't choke with your execution, your setups and flowcharts can't get downloaded, because you have no setups. You just use three moves - 2/db1/ff1 from the distance, until the opponent gets chipped and dies.

TMM when fighting hworang: THAT BACKLASH IS SO STUPID HOW IS THAT BALANCED?! TMM when arguing about Jin's bad powercrush: You don't need powercrush anyway! This is what I hate about TMM. He overstates a lot of the strengths of the characters he don't like and then minimizes their weaknesses. He also minimizes the strengths of the characters he likes. Jin's range weakness is a big deal because you're going to experience it mostly while block punishing. Jin's 24 block punish for example can sometimes whiff after blocking Kazuya df2 which means if Kazuya knows the match up, this is a free duck into ws2. His df14 has similar problems, and so does 1+2. This is not "cherry picking", these are essential moves. F4 is not bad, but it's not a perfect move. If we remove the fact that it's one of the hardest staples in the game (unless you're some peasant who goes into zen every time), TMM still exaggerates its strength. It's very weak to sidesteps and its range can be deceptive. If we're talking about range there are other moves in the game that reacher farther, like noctis ff1+2 which also launches on CH, but also tracks to both sides. FF2 is not bad, but it's a legacy move that everyone already knows how to deal with, like death fist. It's also very linear, so most of the time, when you're hit by this, it's your fault. Also we Jin mains don't ask for buffs. If Jin gets buffs, he's only going to get attacked by haters more which will cause Jin specialists like CBM to turn to other characters more because of peer pressure. We only try to stave off nerfs because the developers don't know how to nerf characters without breaking them!

Man I don’t play tekken I just watch it, but I can clearly see how much better of a character Jin is than Jack. Literally every combo threw Jack in the wall and it was over for him, no mistakes were allowed for jack. The amount of patience, pokes and fundamentals from Anakin impressed me so much. Seemed like Anakin had to put way more effort to win. I’m glad he won! Jin might be very difficult to play but even in the eyes of a noob like me you can tell he’s overpowered compared to jack. Beautiful match!

I don't understand character loyalists, it's fine and admirable if you're a casual, but for pros characters are tools to achieve victory. I don't really respect moba players with limited hero pools, fighting game characters are a lot more complex and difficult to master, but if a person can really play many characters well it's a lot cooler than playing one cahracter insanely well, in my opinon.

Yeah but these character loyalists will just pick whatever they need to win, then everyone would just play akuma and Fahk like always... i dont want Leory spam again lol lets just enjoy the people that pour there all into their favorite character. Its why I love sephiblack, you never see Miguel in tournaments ever and he can do so well consistently against lots of tough opponents and as a miguel main it brings me joy.

Anakin has actually said somewhere that he can't play other characters at this level. The way Jack forces you to play has changed his style so he can't utilize other characters as well
