Yes, it’s funny how layouts magically expand to fit every spare square inch of a room! Ha. My new space will be an L-shaped 30 x 50. It a lot more space, but I’m already spinning my wheels trying to decide what I can include, and what I will have to skip for space sake. I definitely want to preserve that open running rural feel the line had. -Mike

All you need to add is a GHQ Bobcat skid steer. That's how we mixed loads out. Very nice model.

Back in the 70’s we would get potash in on Canadian Pacific script lettered hoppers. There was an old siding the L&N would spot the cars at and we would trans load onto trucks and drive a mile to our fertilizer plant. Great looking structure and job well done!

Thank you! It was a fun project. A trans load track sounds like a great idea for modeling. I’ll have to put that in my to-do list as I know there were some team track sidings along the line I’m modeling. -Mike

Those tichy parts are nice . I have bought probably 20 kits of them. Also on the siding , i cut mine in strips and bent them here and there to create the worn look. Also I learned if you preshade a color like black or dark gray under your primary color on different panels . It can give you the various color changes...Anyway looks good.

I might build a second one of these plants on the layout when I get to modeling the town of Clinton (shown with the Katy train passing in my video). Maybe I’ll have one with a sign, one without. W.R.Grace had a bigger version of one of those next to OKKT's (Rock Island) Cline yard in N.Wichita. When it burned it was pretty spectacular.

Hi, Bucky! I’ll have to look for pictures of that structure. I’ve heard of other fertilizer plants burning over the years. It sounds like the blazes can be pretty disastrous, considering the contents inside the buildings. -Mike

I sure appreciate that! I figured no HO scale Missouri town would be complete without one of these! From what I understand, the Blair Line kit was modeled after the Marshfield plant. It definitely fits the bill for a smaller sized one and is a perfect starting point. I’m sure I’ll make some additional changes in the future. -Mike
