Are you too old for long hair? Mary didn't like her long hair. In fact, she wanted it short.
She came to Makeoverguy for her Power of Pretty Transformation Experience and got the makeover of a lifetime.

She could have kept it long but have it layered to frame her face too. She didn’t necessarily have to go that short to have a gorgeous feminine style that still suited her. I gave up on short hair when I was 25 because it's so much work every day. It's expensive too. Not just in products, but you have to get it cut every 1-2 months, depending on the style and your hair growth.

100% agree. And unlike the overly made up 20 somethings and/ or celebrities, few women in their 60s wear that much makeup every single day. It's expensive, time consuming and very bad for your skin. I would love to see a reversal as you say. Her long hair neatly brushed down her back with nice clothes and makeup, versus her new haircut ( which is a great cut not saying it isn't) but with frumpy clothes and no makeup. I'd be really interested to hear people's opinions then.

Her long hair COULD have been saved & looked way more beautiful with an initial 1.5-2 inch cut, then frequent deep conditioning, regular trims, a clear glaze, etc. She’s gonna be in for a shock with the short hair without a professional styling it every morning! 😢

It's quite possible that he, and/or his team, gave her tips on how to maintain and style it herself each day. It's also possible that she asked for something that wasn't too high maintenance, so she would be able to replicate the look on her own.

@@SophieMia806 Comparing before and after styles, her short hair is high maintenance. It's going to need styling products, blow dryer, possibly curling iron. Her long hair style, not to sound mean, but I don't think she did much other than wash and go, brush it, throw it in a ponytail/bun. And I don't blame her, I did the same. She should've kept it on the long side to still be able to throw it in a ponytail. I think should've cut a few inches, threw in some longer layers gave it some shape.

I’m so glad you made your comment. I’m assuming you’re a WW. A lot of BW hate their hair because they think euroasian hair is lower maintenance. I have bum length locs, and ALL hairstyles are high maintenance for a woman, if you want to look good. You can’t even let an Afro grow without maintaining the style and trimming off dead ends.

@@jaijai5250 I've learned the problem with women, they all want to be in style and trendy, rather than embrace, enhance, and go with what they got. My youngest and I have very curly hair, more of a curly wavy when it's longer. For me to straighten my hair, I have to use so much crap to keep it from frizzing, not to mention the damage all that heat does. My daughter insisted on doing all that though because straight hair has been the thing. I love having wavy/curly hair. I wash it, I drive with the windows down part way to dry it :) Even if I want to style it, the only thing I do different is scrunch in some coconut oil. The stuff I see gals at work doing that is so damaging to their hair, just makes me shake my head.

She would look just as beautiful without cutting her hair off...she just needed it trimmed. And short hair is a LOT of work...doubt she could get her hair styled that way on her own. Her hair being coloured by a pro makes a HUGE difference.

Yes, I totally agree with you and more! She looked fine before, but she wasn't smiling. With the make up and her smile she does look younger in the face. But that hair "style" is ridiculous to me. The front is so plain and the back looks like she slept on it for 2 days and got up without putting a comb through it. I wouldn't have wanted it as long and heavy as it was before, either, but at least give her hair a soft feminine curl with some body, not spikes!

“They” always part the hair in the back and pull it all forward just to hang down the cheeks with no shape for “these makeovers”. No cut is needed, in my opinion, to brush and style this away from her face and back…maybe use a pretty hair comb, and remove the hair from off the face. I am almost 56 yrs old…and I will never cut my waist length hair. My friend who is a hair dresser tells me all the time how beautiful and healthy my hair is. I dont use hot combs or hot brushes or blow dryers or hot anything other than hot water. I don’t color it, I only wash it when it gets oily, usually once a week unless I get sweaty, I don’t use conditioners but once every few washes, because my natural oils condition it, without it looking oily. I only use firm bristled but NEVER PLASTIC BRISTLES combs… I am starting to get gray hair at my temples..they are acting normal…like springs…😵‍💫I have not yet figured out the secret to naturally soft graying hair…for thick course haired women anyway.. 🤷🏻‍♀️ It’s just my opinion..but don’t listen to generalized advice…(other than this generalized advice this one last time)🙃about anything..from anyone. We will find we do not fit into the “Usually” category as often as “they” would like us to think.
