Water is getting into the top of the engine around the spark plugs, it's a common fault on alot of fords, Fiesta, focus etc, water leaks threw the washer jets on the bonnet when it rains. It drip's down onto the rocker cover and goes down the into the channel where the plugs are located. This then fills up with water and causes what you are seeing rusty plugs, leads and misfires. You can get new washer jets with a rubber gasket on them to correct the issue from ford. My 06 plate fiesta had the same issue!. Fitted the new washer jets with the rubber gaskets, plugs and leads, problem fixed.

5:40 - finding the wiring problem is the hardest part. Repairing that loom is VERY easy and often baffles me that people can somehow get it wrong. Get some practice in soldering wires (use adhesive shrink) and you are off to a start. All you need to do sometimes is chop out the "faulty" part of the wire and solder in a new piece, making sure it is the same gauge (or bigger)

Are you talking about DIY job?
@themarvelousvlog8 ай бұрын
I did fix the loom…? 🤷🏽♂️ Anywa, what I wanted out of that job really is to use the new loom provided and to re-pin everything but that would take more time than what was given to us. Shame really that I didn’t get to do it because: 1. I don’t have the tool to de-pin that connector 2. I did not have a new connector (obsolete from JLR) as the old one was clearly broken 3. Not enough time to investigate which wire goes to what PIN number etc. Information from Haynes and AllData was limited as I’ve explained in the video 😭

This was like everytime I went to work on a car when I got started (not comparing you to beginner me there by the way, just that every job I used to try and do would have something like out of this video in!!) Now anything that gives me trouble or is too much of a job without a ramp or will be quicker and cheaper to have done I have connections for as you say some things you just can’t take on without a ramp because it’s not economically viable for the customer I guess and sometimes too difficult for even the best mechanics without the correct tools. For me I won’t do something that will take me 10 hours when I can pay £100 to have it done in 1/2 hours. Time is money. I rebuild category cars (before it was KZbin popular) and have a list as long as my arm of what I won’t buy and why, most of it being something in the region of similar things in this video. Great work again lads, wish you were near me I’d definitely give you a shout!

I would suggest the Merc owner gets the leaking oil coolers sorted first, then have everything else cleaned off. Big oil leaks at the front of the engine can cause oil to be blown back over everything else, making it hard to tell what is, and what is not leaking. That sump gasket may be ok. Lots of respect for the work you do - out in the elements, no nice car lift, yet you always get the jobs done. 👍👍

You are not the guy you admit, but hey, you are really good at diagnostic the right direction. The wiring problem with sensor trouble shooting in a faulty car which is the NO.1 hardest thing when do car works, 2nd is rusty bolt or even rounded / broken bolts and nuts. Electric wiring can be misleading you to a very wrong direction, it maybe just a very tiny hole corroded the wiring or a tiny snapped wiring then all system failure with no reasonable sense to me. Sometimes the OBD scanner can misleading you too. And you may never found where are the problem is. Repairs most than than the value of the car so go and spend thousands on another piece of junk that will only require more repairs. Its only worth scrapping a car if it has loads wrong with it. Its not as if you can easily go and buy a car for the cost of coils and and a core plug. I knew a guy who had a nice Metro that needed a new exhaust, he scrapped it instead and then complained he had no car...what an idiot...

I think he already valued his car at webuy. He compared it against our quote and didnt want to go ahead. Fair enough haha!
@wagmiorngmi9 ай бұрын
@@themarvelousvlog webuy wouldn't have given him anything more than pocket change for that. As andrew says, when you're into sub £1k cars it's better the devil you know. You can't run an old car without spending money on it, especially not with our roads which are plastered in salt for a third of the year and corrode everything exposed. People seem to forget that the main reason other people sell their cars is because there's a problem with it or one is brewing. They try to offload it onto someone else before they have to deal with it. All that happens in most cases is you are selling your 'known quantity' car to replace it with an unknown one from someone else, usually resulting in having to spend far more time and money fixing the problems on theirs than what it would have done to keep and fix your own. Sure, there are limits, like if it needs £2k of welding work on a £500 car to get it through MOT, but if the structure is sound and it's just changing worn or knackered mechanical bits, it's usually worth doing imo.
