YOUR TEACHING SKILLS !!!! >>>> Oh my word, I have never seen a college math professor explain ANYTHING on this level. It's beautiful. The way you wrote down y^6 = (u^(-1/5))^6 to help your student. The fact that you question yourself as you're doing it rather than answer condescendingly to questions. YOU. You, my friend, are a true sorcerer.

Yeah, most math dept professors are stuck up, especially foreign ones. I think since they immigrated, they've taken everything much more seriously to be competitive, but it makes classes dry and more difficult to understand. Anyway, yes. It's nice when a professor can explain things in human terms rather than rigorous mathematical proofs.

I am currently in my first year of university in the UK (about to go into 2nd year) I wanted to ask about masters and PhDs as that is my big goal, I know it's a long way off but do you think that if you put the work in that anyone can do a masters or PhD? I always keep thinking to myself that when I struggle on simple things or I see a proof method which I would never have thought of which seems very obvious then it brings me down as most of my class understand it well. I have quite a short term memory, I understand things very quickly but also easily forget important details. I just want to think realistically about if the average person can get one. I did pass year 1 with a first class but trying not to get ahead of myself as that was the 'easy year'
