This Music Video has 2 theories: 1) it is based on the Sewol Ferry Tragedy and 2) it is based on the Bangtan Universe. The song itself is not about the Sewol Ferry Tragedy. RM and Suga said it is based off of their experiences and RM wrote it to comfort people. Also, the mountain of clothes was all donated to shelters, orphanages, etc.

Spring Day is a song to give hope to those who are struggling with the pain of having a beloved friend, lover, or family member who has gone away for whatever reason. To let them know that spring (hope) will one day come again, and melt away the cold of winter. The music video has many symbols relating to the very personal tragedy that happened in Korea, felt by all Koreans, and is BTS' way of coping with that pain, and to help fellow Koreans to recover from it. However, RM has stated the song is not about their tragedy, but to help those who are going through any tragedy, to help anyone who needs that comfort. BTS were never one to shy away from controversies or politically sensitive subjects. And the song 'Spring Day' and the music video are referencing the Sewol Ferry Incident. On the 16th of April 2014, a ferry by the name of Sewol capsized and sank. Most of the passengers on the Sewol Ferry that day were high school students from Danwon High School, who were on a field trip to Jeju island. The ferry carried a total of 476 people when it capsized, leaving only 172 alive. And that amount of clothes is reffering to the dead students . I hope you react to spring day MV Explained.

I had been learning Korean for months before I got Osaka and what J-Hope was doing for the first two syllables. 오 is 5 and pronounced “oh” so he held up five fingers. 사 is 4 and pronounced “sa” And of course he was driving a car for the “Ka” part though Jungkook rightfully pointed out you ride a bike like that and not a car. Anyway, forgive my Korean language lesson.

This song is queen, hasn’t left the Korean music charts since it was released, such a meaningful song 😭💜 the simple explanation is winter=grief the complex explanation goes into the probable writing of this song was for the survivors of the Sewol Ferry tragedy. The government in S.Korea tried to minimize exposure since it was an avoidable tragedy..anyone who covered it (journalists, celebrities) were blackballed- silenced. So when asked RM says this song can be interpreted many ways, it was his way of trying to toe the edge of why this song came to be. Because they can’t ever admit the true inspiration the symbolism in the MV point to that as the true intentions. And they are amazing by trying to comfort their grieving country... 😭🙌🏼

Spring day is my favorite song. This song and MV is about a tragedy that happened and when you find out the meaning its very deep and sad. There are so many clues in the MV like yellow ribbon, carousel, label on washing machine, "omelas" motel, mountain of clothes, lyrics that says “Like Snowpiercer, I was left alone”, etc. Even in their dance practice, It resembles the front of a sinking ship. Just a note: we’re all in the habit of saying “Explained”, but in this case we refer people to a “theory” vid. We use the Bulletproof Vibes video because, though it has some theories that are pure speculation, it does the best job laying out all the literary and artistic references paired with the social activism referring to a national disaster that was covered up by the government. On the surface, this is a song to comfort many people and it does in whatever way they connect to it.. Combined with the MV, it is also a brilliant piece of subversive art. Just so you know, everyone is going to ask for the explained video. That video is a THEORY it is NOT the definitive meaning behind the video. RM an Suga wrote the song about missing friends. People have attached the song to the event more than likely because of something philanthropic BTS did in relation to the song. There is another theory that is just as valid but isn't fraught in emotion so it is usually pushed aside.
