I believe that both Emma and Joseph are wearing their, "Reviewing the Troops" outfits or costumes for the matching profile paintings. Thus, the riding crop in Emma's hand and the sword in Joseph's hand. I mourn also for today's watered-down and morphed church anti-history and it causes me great concern for the younger individuals as well as the MANY faithful LDS families that I have seen be ripped apart by these 🤥inflammatory and reworked half truths, fashioned to destroy faith and harmony within so many homes from 1985-6 and forward!😪 BRAVA, and BRAVA again for a This terrific work to help bring more solid and firm context and insight into what only those that had to "live it" could really know and comment upon their situation. I do know that when Pres. Woodruff's letter was read in conference, to bring about a close to the practice of polygamy, that there were many broken-hearted second, third and forth spouses that had to then, somehow, figure out how to go-it-alone with little 👶🏼 children 👶🏼, and no home anymore to go to...... it was a sad time, full of many new mixed emotions and sorrows, and then those who breathed a sigh of relief. (I believe probably, mostly men, but, some women too!) I am aware that there was a time during those early years of (what I believe was a better focused reality), about feminism than that of today...and, a convention of Eastern women decided that it was their moral duty to travel to the Utah territory before Utah was made a state, and inform those poor repressed and suppressed Mormon plural wives that they needed to be liberated! That is, until they arrived in Utah and saw what those poor repressed women of plural marriage-polygamy! what was really happening in the Utah territory where women were concerned... That they, the Utah ill-informed polygamists women had the right to vote in all elections and own property in there own name and organize and run businesses, become educated in medicine, etc. ..... those "Easterners were outraged at their own blight-to-return-to-at-home-back-east!!!!😲😤😒 The air was quite taken from their sails of righteous indignation. And... they were left quite speechless when confronted with their own deeper reality of unfairness. Just a few thoughts about the times...both then and much later, mid-1980's, and now misinformation monsters biting at every way to destroy our faith and our families tranquility‼️

I believe that both Emma and Joseph are painted in their "matching" profiles as dressed in their, "reviewing the militia"
