This theme from from "Another World" was composed by the late Charles Paul and this version was played by first Clarke Morgan then Chet Kingsbury from 1964 to 1973.

Did you know Bill Wolff was the announcer on "Another World" from 1964-1987 and that when the show first debuted on NBC with the tagline "We Do Not Live in This World Alone But in A Thousand Other Worlds"?

Awesome Excellent I simply love it. Takes me back to age 6 sitting with my grandmother in her living room watching another world together.

Yes, David. Because Charles Paul worked with Irna Phillips (who created Another World an was originally to be a spinoff of ATWT) at As the World Turns, she commissioned him to write the theme music and wanted him to be the show's organist. But as soaps were still mostly live, Charlie wouldn't have made it back from the NBC studios (where AW aired at 3:00) to the CBS studios to play for The Secret Storm (Which aired at 4:00) in time LOL!

Oh my gosh! Beautiful, Lance! Thank you so much, my brother! The original theme was always gorgeous. It was one of my favorites, even as a child. Thanks again!

This is wonderful and so beautiful! Thanks orgnplyr. I always supposed this theme was composed by Clarke Morgan, since he was the first organist on Another World. He was organist on three previous soaps: "Golden Windows" (1954-55), "From These Roots" (1958-61), and "Our Five Daughters (1962). Charlie Paul was organist on "As The World Turns" and "The Secret Storm."

Lance, I've really, really enjoyed viewing many of your videos, today. This one of _Another World_ is beyond perfection. Since you played this by ear, it makes it even more special. Thanks so much for posting it--my favorite soap of all time. I wish we could live in those wonderful times, again, when soaps were extremely popular and the organ music was included with every single episode. 🙂 (Chase)

Hello: This is magnificent!! I am perhaps this shows biggest fan ever from 1964-75. Loved organist Clarke Morgan: I taped the show for his incredible organ music, leit motifs for each character and incredible fade out chords. Love the way you play it. can't believe it's all by ear. Your talent is astounding. Please contact me. have so many questions for you. The other soap themes are great as well.

That celeste solo in the middle is exquisite...and just the way I remember hearing it on the TV in my grandmother's house. Hope you will someday also post a version of the 60's "The Edge of Night" theme as well.

Thanks for the kind compliments! In fact I'm working on perfecting my rendition of The Edge of Night theme. Stay tuned!

Lance, I think I remember you from WOST...absolutely wonderful rendition...that will always be THE AW theme for me...although I did compose lyrics to the one that they adopted after going to an hour in 1975, I have posted those on another AW site on You Tube & had posted them on a WOST message board...but in any case, kudos to you for such wonderful talent!

I'm Clarke Morgan's daughter. This brought back a lot of memories. It sounded very good. Just like Daddy used to play it! Daddy had a setup of organ and piano just like that in his apartment and he used to reach over with one hand to the piano just like that.

Oh my goodness Margaret I AM SO EXCITED to hear from you!!! As you can tell, I'm completely fascinated with soap music and the great organists from those shows. I have a vid of "The First Hundred Years" from 1950 and remember his playing on "Another World".. I've always wondered about how your dad and others did what they did. If you care to share any recollections of your daddy and the work he did, I'd most humbly grateful!

Daddy discovered the Hammond Organ while still in college. It was new technology then. He haunted the store and learned all he could about the stops. I've never heard anyone get the sounds that he did. He was a trained classical pianist, too, and gave several concerts in Erie, PA before moving to NYC in 1947 after being discharged from his service in WWII. In NYC he worked in radio and night clubs in addition to playing for Soaps.

Margaret Kleinfeld PS I have a couple CDs of Clarke playing, made from reel to reel tapes found in his apt. and from an old pre-vinyl record of his 1947 radio show. I could make copies and snail mail them to you if you are interested, or perhaps I could upload them somewhere and you could download. They are mp3 format. The quality of sound is not great on some, but the playing is great. None of it is from the Soaps.

I was able to put the music on dropbox. If you email me at pkleinf@yahoo.com I will have your email address and can send you an invitation so you can access it. If this doesn't work out, I will send a couple CDs. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hello kjchicago: Just wondering if you know who Clarke Morgan was, watched the show when he played the organ so brilliantly or if you are familiar with his work. He was the greatest soap organist of all time. He didn't just play the music, he actually scored each episode. No other organist did that. DAN
@tomtv113 жыл бұрын
@snowgirl1052 You are so right. This organ music was played every day live on all the soaps back in the day.

Lance, have you tried the 1974-1981 Another World theme? Oh, and the 1970s era theme for The Doctors as well? BTW, you were great on this AW theme, and you truly worked that Edge of Night theme you did also!

John D I’ve actually scored that particular theme but will get around to playing it.

kjchicago1, thanks for the wonderful compliment and yes, I do know The Guiding Light theme "La Lumiere" and will get around to posting it sometime in the near future. However it will sound somewhat different because I'll be trying very hard to duplicate the registrations on my Hammond organ and Charles Paul played a Conn Artist organ while at Love of Life, The Secret Storm and The Guiding Light.
