Some may get a kick out of this. When you watch some of the older shows such as Gilligan's Island, you will see "Johnny" Williams in the credits under Music. It is John Williams as a very young composer just getting his start. It seems funny to me to see him credited as Johnny-Johnny just doesn't seem to have the ring for the great composer that John Williams is. But we were all young once.
@Martyprod24 жыл бұрын
"Johnny" Williams did some outstanding works too, remember the Main Title for the Time Tunnel ! I Have his early Jazz recording too, and it's pretty "phenomenal". It's a Different time, it was different work for different purpose. Most of his TV works were mainly done for feeding his family as it was the reason for him to move from NYC to L.A, not to become the successful composer we know today.
@Martyprod24 жыл бұрын
I still have Two Big interviews with Wiliams and Andre Previn, they talk about all this "old" time and his "johnny Williams" career. one of the interview was with Miklos Roska as a second interviewed. It's very funny. just need to find some time to put this online, as i must edit it to not have the video blocked because they show a lot of movies excerpt during the interviews.
@0000bridge4 жыл бұрын
@@Martyprod2 Thanks for your comments-and yes I actually watched the Time Tunnel the other night. :-) Another interesting line of inquiry that someone should pursue if interested in the composer side of Movies and TV is the Newman family. Alfred Newman received 9 Academy Awards and was nominated 45 times. His big name movies included How the West Was Won, How Green Was My Valley, etc.. His brother, Emil, was known for the music in Sun Valley Serenade with a starring role by Glenn Miller, himself. And his other brother, Lionel Newman, who scored Hello Dolly! although my favorite from Lionel has always been the theme for Daniel Boone with Fess Parker. Lastly, we can not leave out nephew, Randy Newman, if We 'Love LA'. What a Family of composers! Thank you so much.
@Martyprod24 жыл бұрын
@@0000bridge Yes, there are some amazing Family :) don't forget that John Williams has a son, Joseph Singer and film composer too. Other family close to the Williams one are the Porcaro one, Joe (Percussionist and drummer, played on some williams Score) and his sons, Steve, Jeff, Mike (Rock band Toto but not only), What about the Paich Family , David (Dune) and Marty (orchestrator and Arranger (including Frank Sinatra etc). Love Alfred Newman too :) !

Marty, why don't you interview film composers? Are you a musician? I am dying to know how film music is thought up, to reflect the mood of the movie. Loved the SABRINA theme music, as well as the song by Sting (which I assume was written for the movie?). Maybe we can do a joint project, somehow, and find financing to cover it. I probably speak naively, not knowing all the difficulties. But it could be done by Google Hangouts, couldn't it? What do you say, Marty?

@Martyprod29 жыл бұрын
That's why i put all the videos i have except the ones that KZbin erased here. Because nobody want to publish them in some way. i know the issues... Need authorisation from several major cinema company, several producer, several director, etc ... a headache ... that's certainly why as today, there is still not a single concert in DVD/bluray from john williams and the number available from other composer is very very small :( a friend of wine does documentaries on film composer, and it's just a "nightmare" in term of copyright.
