We had someone abandon their cat at our house. We called a few times and the final call was disconnected. My mom went by the address on the collar (yeah they left the collar on) and it was vacant. So we kept him and loved him. He was about 5 when we adopted him and was 16 when he went over the rainbow bridge. He had a very good life.

Aww, how sweet! I adopted a cat when he was 4. The owners had to move far away and couldn't keep him at their new place. They were heartbroken to leave him. He was an angel. I had 7 years with him until he developed bone cancer. That was 20 years ago and I still miss him so much.

TheWatanna she is definitely trying out for the job. You are wise to keep her separated from your cat and kids. See if she is microchipped. If not, the owners have no legal right to decide her care choices.

Not at all feral. Could be a lost pet or abandoned. Take her to the vet for a med check and check for a chip. If there's not a chip, advertise a found cat to see if anyone is looking for her. If someone says she's their's ask them to identify her by photo or an identifying mark. If you keep her, by all means get her spayed. If you do please keep her indoors, slowly introduce her to your current cat and teach her some manners. It shouldn't be too difficult. She's a lovely, sweet and intelligent kitty and should be a good pet. If you must take her to a shelter, please find a no-kill facility or better yet, find a new owner yourself. Kittens are fairly easy to find a home for, unlike full grown adult cats. Good luck.

She's clever, but given the behaviors, she may never have had a home. Her bite behavior shows she gets over-excited and lacks bite inhibition, signs she may have been separated from mom early and didn't get to play with other cats. That will get better with interactions and a little kind training. Get her checked at a vet, keep her quarantined until she's cleared by a vet to interact with Sparta and your family (and any flea/parasite treatments are all set). She seems to really like people, and that may be more that people = reliable food/comfort in her short life's experience rather than having had a home. A vet can check for a microchip, too. Thank you for helping her!

Get her fixed. She could go into heat and get pregnant at any time now, and she's too young for kittens. If she has owners, they're not doing the responsible thing for her especially if they're leaving her out in the cold and not even feeding her well. They clearly don't care enough about her to look after her well being, and do you really want 5-6 more kittens running around this spring?
@elizaash358
@elizaash358 5 жыл бұрын
Yeah even if it's a sacrifice maybe get her fixed because it'll just make cats that won't most likely get a fair chance at a good life. It's the humane thing to do if youre really a cat lover.😃😽

@@elizaash358 ° We got our dog fixed, and to be honest I don't think it's the best, She (my dog) would have been an amazing mother, and we took that from her....in my eyes I see it in that way, although I understand if you don't want so many kittens around.

Honestly, I would say it's too early to claim that if she has owners they are bad. Not enough is known. My roomie has two cats and go in and out. The older prefers to stay inside or close to the house, the older is always wandering around the neighborhood warm or cold, dry or rain. They're crazy like that and we can't keep them inside. The younger also is constantly hungry. To the point where several neighbors came to us asking why we never feed him... Even though they always have a bowl of dry and get wet food every day. That cat is not lacking for food, but constantly acts like he's on the verge of starvation, even with 4-5 houses feeding him...

Not only will it help out the neighborhood but it will help with her health and behavior like that rough bite she gave you! Spaying will help mellow her out some. She also won't pee everywhere (not sure if she does currently). ♥ Please please please I urge you to make sure she is spayed and soon its already late in her life for it! It is good for her! I have a male and a female cat, both are fixed, and they get along just fine. Good luck with everything. Please take care of that bite wound. lmao, 1:55 Sparta randomly pops up behind the little cat door hole on the left trying to see what's going on. I'd say when you take her to the vet have her scanned for a chip, and put up some found cat posters nearby to see if anyone lost her. Give it a month or two and if no one comes forward then consider her your cat and let her in with Sparta so they can play and have fun, you can always let her be both an indoor/outdoor car and let her out when she wants to as cats that have been outdoors a lot will generally let you know if they want in/out by scratching at the door, or you can even get a cat door that is made specifically to allow cats in/out and some that are electronic and will "lock" and unlock via a collar you can place on her that has a chip inside so the door knows to unlock and let the cat in (so no raccoons or other animals can use it to get inside).

Awww she’s pawdorable😻 She chose you for a reason, you already named her, and Sparta likes her, so I think she’s yours now😜 We adopted a feral cat in a similar way. There were never any stray/feral cats around where I grew up, so it was a huge surprise when a 1-2 year old ear-tipped feral cat showed up in my mom’s backyard (she had a pit bull but never had any cats, so it’s weird she picked her house). We started feeding him and getting him used to humans, then when it got cold we opened up the garage to him but still felt bad so that led to opening a window in our landing just enough for him to fit through (where our washer & dryer were, that had steps & a door leading into the house). He became so friendly and slept inside every night, so that led to opening the landing door and letting him into the house! The dog wasn’t mean just overbearing at times and we didn’t want to scare the cat or make him feel trapped in the house with no escape from the dog, so we just let him be indoor/outdoor until my mom passed away. I then had to catch him (took me a month!) and bring him to my house. I was very surprised that it didn’t take him long to get used to being a full time indoor cat (a few nights of caterwauling at 4am and trying to get out every door and window that he could find at that time of night). And even though he was 2-3 times bigger than my other 3 cats he was terrified of them! But he is now a very happy member of the fameowly😻

Please don't be nervous about spaying her or feel weird about it if it's somebody else's cat. The owners are obviously really not taking good care of her. I know it sounds bad to say but it is true when push comes to shove. And obviously they let her spend a lot of time out side so if that's the case, then she needs to be spayed. Do you want a bunch of unwanted kittens running out being feral because you did not want to overstep your bounds?

Sounds like an epic love bite from her. Keeping them seperated is just prudent. She is a beautiful dilute tortie. You, Sparta and family had best be prepared to have her run your life. They can be bossy * is owned by two non dilute torties * Mine are also very chatty so be prepared to converse. As for getting her spayed, it is the healthy choice in my opinion. It saves from unwanted litters, over population and needless deaths. If it turns out she is someone elses then they'd best be prepared to ante up for the vet bill and personally shame on them for being such lax pet parents. Sorry, that was judgemental but it is how i feel. Hope you keep her, she's 100% healthy and that one day Sparta will accept her.

I'm not sure if anyone else has already said this, but I think that cat was separated from it's mom at a very young age. Cats learn how to play by playing with their littermates (or other cats), but if they're separated from mom and other cats at a very young age they grow up not knowing how to play nice. These cats will bite very hard and play very rough. Just because a cat is young doesn't mean it's normal to bite hard enough to leave marks. If you get to the point where you want to introduce Karma to Sparta you should make sure to supervise them. Sparta can probably take care of himself but he won't be a fan of Karma for long if Karma bites him like he bit you.

Um no! If she turns out to be someone else's cat you should NOT get her spayed. That's a violation and very disrespectful. That's the owners choice not yours.

@@xkindredxsoulsxxx4195 People who keep outdoors cats can easily get pregnant and start a litter outside, without you knowing. Those newborn kittens will grow up to be animal killers and start to kill off all the birds and mice and other small rodents in your local area. It has devastating effects on the ecosystem to not fix outdoors or stray cats, even if they do belong to someone else. I know it sucks to be the owner who just found out their cat got fixed especially if they wanted kittens, but cat owners who want kittens should NOT let their cat be an outdoors cat. It's just really bad for the local wildlife.

She looks pretty healthy - just very hungry and lonely. Still, it is a good idea to get her vetted first before introducing her to Penny and Sparta. And you say you may not be ready for a friend, but please don't shut off the idea of it completely. Sparta is clearly interested in this new cat, and it looks like she may already be worming her way into your heart.

The only treatment for rabies in humans is getting the vaccine before symptoms start. The Milwaukee protocol only worked once; every other time it has been tried, the patient died. Having said that, Karma would be showing symptoms if she had rabies, and she isn't. Cory should wash the wound, slap some antibiotic ointment on it, and see his doctor if it gets inflamed.

Anna Gump foxes get extremely affectionate with and unafraid of humans in the last stage of rabies infection (might be a way for the disease to spread more easily - scary!) Not implying this cute kitty is ill, just meant it as an interesting factoid :)

My family has been in the same situation! Just after Christmas we started feeding a little stray girl cat (affectionately called Porch Cat) and then as it got colder, we built her an insulated hideaway in the shed she hangs out in. We have an appointment to get her spayed because she's been in heat once or twice now and we've spotted other strays hanging around on our porch. She eats canned food multiple times a day and we change out her water when it freezes, she's pretty much ours because we've only seen her around our house since we first spotted her. Same as you, though, we didn't start feeding her with the intention of taking her in, we already have four indoor cats that would definitely not get along with a stray. She also has roundworms that we're giving her meds for so I don't want her in contact with my cats at all until the vet gives her a look over. Good to know we aren't the only ones out there awkwardly caring for cute cats that turn up^^

Cats get killed by animal shelters on a daily basis. Prevent this from happening by being responsible and getting her spayed. People who tell you otherwise don't care about the consequences of unwanted, homeless cats. The deaths in animal shelters makes me sick and makes me cry.

If she is this hungry they may not be taken care of her. Get her checked out and spay her so she dose not bring you kittens she looks about 6-9 months tho could be older they will stay tiny if they don't get the food they need to grow... As for her not seeming feral they learn fast and when they leave there momma they can pickup on being vary house oriented I have taken in many young feral cats and it dose not take long at all to learn doors and cat doors too

@@scottweiss9618 6 cats wow I work with ferals at a cat rescue but at home I normally have 3 at most with the exception of a mamma tortishell (black and orange calie) who thought my porch was a good place to have 6 kittens lol all girls and super cute. But as for why Cory is not as experienced is Sparta is the only kitten he has had as far as I know and lokie was full grown when he got him.

@@Calthrow Oh, his name is 'Cory'. Oh, I used to work with Ferals. I had two feral cat feeding stations and for the the longest time I would do Catch Neuter and Release by catching them by hand. Oh, and when I was young I was a juggler, and a dancer. So I guess I can be faster as a friggin snake. It is an odd thing about Cat Bites. A socialized Cat might still want to be able to give little Love Nibbles or to draw your hand with his or her teeth. One of my Favorite all time Cats, Big Bear, would show affection by jumping up on me while I would still be laying in bed and walk up on my chest and bite my nose ever so gently. But, for that to happen right, you need to show limits in two way: 1) scream bloody murder whenever they inflict pain, and 2)inflict pain -- smack their little butts. That young male siamese, Tommy, he will want to play Fight and Bite with my hand, which I discourage, but sometimes I will play with him and then just let my hand go still, and he will pounce and bite... and I monitor him for his gentleness. If he goes over the line I yell "ouch" and then he knows what will be coming next, and he gets away so quick it like he dematerializes. But, yes, he is developing the Gentle Touch. Maybe when he gets Old and Really big he will be able to bite me sweetly on the nose.

Get her fixed!! That's the most important thing so she doesn't get pregnant and have unwanted kittens where there's already so many born and so many that have to suffer in the world. It doesn't matter if she has an owner, one of the most important things anyone can do for a cat or dog is to get them fixed ASAP. She's such a pretty girl, of course it would be awesome if you kept her if she proves to not have an owner and is healthy. :)
