BINGO! For most rides you want to be in the FRONT for the best experience (Xcelerator comes to mind ASAP - riding in the VERY front row makes it a completely different ride than sitting anywhere else). But Ghost is one of the few rides where being in the BACK makes for the best ride. You get whipped around like crazy.

@turbocass25345 жыл бұрын
greg charles I mean in 2018 it was ranked #13 but golden ticket rankings don’t mean much to me personally (isn’t it a bit odd that the big yearly ace event for 2019 was in SoCal and nearly all SoCal coasters ranked significantly higher in 2019 than in 2018?) I have ridden El Toro and still like GhostRider more, but that’s because to me it feels more like a true woodie. Toro feels more like a steel coaster, not just in the type of elements but in the smoothness too. I mean it’s amazing, but I find the overall package of GR to be what I really love: the true rough “out of control” feeling (without being uncomfortable), the airtime (the millennium flyers are so easy to get tons of space on), the lats, and the pacing. GR has the best pacing I’ve ever experienced on any coaster ever. That’s just my opinion!

i'm going to give y'all a history of knott's, cause I'm a nerd and know little useless things like this in my cluttered brain, and this is to justify having said information in my brain. so yes, this is knott's berry farm, an iconic southern california amusement park that's been open technically since the twenties. It's in orange county, the county just south of los angeles. it was a roadside carnival within a berry farm in the twenties, to attract families and patrons to walter knott's berry farm, which sold berries, jams, then later chicken pot pies. it became known to be a fun carnival, and became quite famous within southern california. then in the late 40s, walter knott decided to just focus on an amusement park. he had a knack and fascination with the old west (as well as a good business ethic), and first made the famous 'ghost town' region of the park, as well as exactly recreate an old west mining town that existed in the mojave desert in the 1880s, called calico. mr. knott purchased calico in the early 50s and exactly rebuilt all but 5 of the buildings that stood there in the 1880s, made a mini- mine train ride, and had one of the mine tunnels be safe for people to walk through. it's been a government owned park since 1955. it's open to the public, and is located just east of barstow off the i-15. it's really fun, and i highly recommend it if you wanna take a break from a road trip! anyways, he based the section of the park off the same design as calico. he also built an old fashioned locomotive ride, that had interior scenes of mining life and scenes of the wild west, continuously updating it with new animatronics and special effects. all of which had an educational side to it, so many schools took field trips here. in the 1960s, he built the log ride with the same idea as the locomotive, but as a log flume. it was the first big ride built there, and was an instant hit when it opened in 1969. it grabbed a lot of attention and excitement in the area, and made it quite famous. so the park continued to grow. when disneyland opened in 1955 just a couple miles southeast of knott's, there were concerns of knott's falling flat. but to no avail, it's business stayed strong, a few reasons being how unique it was, and it wasn't such a fancy place like disneyland was at the time (you had to wear suits and dresses and such in the early days of disneyland, it wasn't as cheap, etc.). it had been pretty successful for the rest of the century, noted as being one of the first amusement parks in america to have a halloween scary theme, knott's scary farm, at night. the park and company was continuously growing, adding new "sections" in the park and many more rides. then in the nineties, it's stock dipped drastically, and unfortunately business started waning. in 1997, the ohio amusement park company cedar fair bought the park, and worked closely with the knott company to complete certain things about the park; to reform it, and to keep it having the same old western charm while still providing huge, awesome modern day rides.

My favourite was Silver Bullet, but Jaguar is pretty good for the view! I wasn’t thinking about Motezuma and Jaguar, I was thinking about Jaguar and Silver Bullet! Their paths collide, and I was imagining the two riders from the different rides touching with hands, like the famous Michelangelo painting.

I've just realised that Montezooma's Revenge has the word Zoom in it.

Thank You Knotts Berry Farm. I would consider you guys a shelter for a baby womb called "timothy" who had nowhere to go. You guys did your job and kept my energy high about life and giving me high hopes. Maybe it's time for me to close this chapter.

Awesome looking list and very close to what I anticipate my list will be when I visit knotts this summer minus the fact that hangtime is above xcelerator which I just can’t see happening for my list

I haven't been on GhostRider since before the retracking, and at that point it was actually my least favourite wooden coaster. I was 12 when I went on it and my mom, in the back seat, and I came off with massive bruises. I didn't ride another coaster for the rest of the day because of how much I'd been banged around, it spooked me too much. I'd be interested to give it another try now, it's been a little over a decade and I've heard good things about the retrack

I like your list! Here’s mine: 1. Xcelerator 2. Hangtime 3. Ghostrider 4. Montezooma’s Revenge 5. Silver Bullet 6. Pony Express 7. Jaguar 8. Coast Rider 9. Timberline Twister I put Xcelerator as my number 1 because of the launch. I would’ve put Ghostrider higher if I got airtime in the back seat. Also when I rode Silver Bullet (last time I went was October 2018) it was incredibly rough and shaky for me.

Just be prepared for a looooong wait. The sign may say two hours, but that usually means it's a 3- 3 1/2 hour wait. Unless you get there before most people, I'd save that one for last or else you'll miss out on the others
@bellamonroe80805 жыл бұрын
The Goose of Moose really?? in that case ill consider buying a fast pass. waiting in lines is the absolute worst part about amusement parks. thanks for the heads up

It's good to see that they finally fixed the track on GR. I'm a local, and GR was the one ride you didn't want to go on because it was brutal.
